Chapter 478: Chapter 302: Gotta Take It Down This Time
Just how strong was Andre?
Seven years ago on a battlefield in Africa, shortly after reaching Tier Three, he single-handedly slaughtered an elite armed force of three hundred men. By dawn, the entire camp was a river of blood, littered with mutilated corpses that had been violently torn apart. He earned the nickname "Violent Bear," which was short for "Violent White Bear." In the wars that followed, he went on to kill over a dozen Ascenders, including a veteran Tier Three Ascender, solidifying his infamous reputation.
Three years ago, after accumulating over a dozen major and minor criminal charges—including homicide, murder, smuggling Abyssal Cursed Objects, and endangering public safety—he was listed as a B-Level fugitive by the Star Association. While on the run, he killed five Cultists from the Russian Orthodox Church. Upon hearing the news, the Russian Orthodox Church immediately dispatched three Knights to hunt him down. The result was one Knight killed, two wounded, and Andre still managed to escape. During that time, Andre became a legendary figure on the dark web. After all, not many people could get the better of the Russian Orthodox Church.
After escaping from Russia, Andre came to North Carolina and completely dominated the southern part of the state’s underworld in just one month. He killed the previous Grand Commander in less than five minutes and took his place. Afterward, he "sparred" with several Special Agents from the Counter-Terrorism Department, winning each encounter with crushing force. He was briefly listed as an Advanced-level threat by the Counter-Terrorism Department, which worked overnight to draw up a series of countermeasures against him.
But after accepting the olive branch extended by the North Carolina Government and starting to work for them, he caught the attention of the "White House."
Facing ten members of the "Second Generation of Ascendants" from prominent families, even two Andres would have stood no chance. Just when everyone thought his death was certain, he broke through the hopeless situation and escaped, though he was grievously wounded. His incredible strength left countless people in awe, and the North Carolina Government intervened on his behalf, sending the "White House" members away and ensuring Andre’s safety.
Defeating the Knights of the Russian Orthodox Church and escaping their pursuit, breaking out of the "White House" team’s encirclement... These feats alone were enough to prove Andre’s monstrous strength. He was definitively in the top echelon of Tier Three Ascenders worldwide.
How could the Special Agents from the Counter-Terrorism Department possibly be a match for such a powerhouse?
With a human-wave tactic, they might have had a chance to kill Andre. But right now, there were only three Special Agents here, and two of them were only Tier Two. Their chances were nonexistent.
It was safe to say they were dead men the moment they ran into Andre.
The shattered stone wall collapsed with a RUMBLE, sending up a cloud of dust. The face of the Tier Three Special Agent, whose neck was caught in Andre’s grip, turned crimson from the lack of air. He could clearly feel his bones groaning in protest and could already foresee the gruesome future where Andre would snap his neck in the very next second.
"Is this all the elite Special Agents of the North Carolina Counter-Terrorism Department have to offer?"
Andre held the Tier Three Special Agent high in the air by his throat, his eyes dripping with contempt. "And to think I once considered you my most threatening enemies. What a disappointment. I can kill as many pieces of trash like you as you can send."
With that, Andre tightened his grip, preparing to crush the agent’s throat.
But in the next second, without any warning, dark characters materialized on his entire arm, glowing with a flowing light. With a CLATTER, five hard, cold, black chains appeared out of thin air. Each chain was connected to one of his fingers. An immense force pulled from the other end, snapping all five chains taut. They yanked on Andre’s fingers, forcing him to release the Tier Three Special Agent.
The agent immediately seized the opportunity to escape. The ground beneath him rippled like a wave, carrying him swiftly into the distance, away from the violent beast that was Andre. He didn’t forget to counterattack. The ground trembled, and with a BOOM, a thick rock spike erupted from below, launching Andre into the sky.
However, Andre’s Defense Power was astonishing. The rock spike failed to pierce or shatter him.
In mid-air, Andre tried to clench his fist, but the power of the five black chains was staggering. Not only did he fail to break free, but his fingers began to bend backward, his bones emitting a cringe-inducing grinding sound.
His brow furrowed slightly as he looked down toward the other end of the chains.
On the street below, a man in a raven mask held the chains, pulling with all his might.
—Axiomatic Law: Chain of Sin!
—Forged from the sins committed by the guilty. The graver the sin, the stronger the Chain of Sin.
’How did the Plague Doctor get here...?’ Zhou Chen, who was hiding in the shadows, was stunned. ’Why is he taking him on all by himself? Andre is a veteran powerhouse, and you just had your Advancement!’
Andre adjusted his center of gravity and landed steadily. He charged toward the Plague Doctor like a heavily armored rhinoceros. Cars and trees in his path were mercilessly crushed, setting off a continuous series of explosions.
The Plague Doctor remained calm and composed. He yanked hard on the chains, sending the force traveling up their length to Andre’s five fingers.
SNAP!
A ripple of white energy flared out.
All five of Andre’s fingers burst apart in a surge of searing pain, but he didn’t even frown. He left a straight, indented line in the road as he closed the distance with extreme speed, clenching his other hand into a fist and launching it at the Plague Doctor’s head like a cannonball, kicking up a hurricane of wind and a deafening boom. His speed and power were even more terrifying than the collected data had described!
The Plague Doctor swung the chains, and countless links scraped violently against each other in mid-air, showering sparks as they wove themselves into an iron net to block the incoming fist.
CLANG!
The metallic ringing was deafening, its echo lingering in the air. Fine cracks appeared on the black chains, but they healed almost instantly.
