Chapter 128 - 106: Divine Descent 2

Chapter 128: Chapter 106: Divine Descent 2

Even within the heavily protected Star Association, everyone felt a suffocating despair envelop their souls. It was as if an apocalyptic tsunami was sweeping toward them. Their minds went blank, unable to form a single thought. They could only stand frozen in place, trembling uncontrollably as fear flooded every inch of their souls.

All they wanted was to submit before this magnificent divine will.

BANG BANG BANG… Countless observation instruments exploded, and various devices blared manically. On the screens, a single scarlet warning flashed at a high frequency.

—King of Chaos Divine Descent fluctuation detected.

At the Stars Association Headquarters, alarms blared ceaselessly, displaying only a single, heart-stopping warning.

—Divine Descent of the King of Chaos!

He had chosen this moment to perform His Divine Descent.

Using the Gate of Hell in the Mirror World as a bridge and the Grand Steward as a beacon, He unleashed His infinite, terrifying power—a power comparable to that of the Gods—upon the mortal world. Though its might was limited, it was more than enough!

He brought down the promised finger.

The mere lift of a single finger unleashed infinite darkness, bringing a cataclysmic disaster down upon the Golden Bamboo Star Association.

The world grew dim. Amidst a sound so immense it defied comprehension, the world plunged into a deathly silence.

“Ah, I feel the power of my Lord! The Star Association in the real world has been wiped from existence!” The Purgatory Fire Demon trembled with excitement, its body erupting in black flames as it communed with the Gate of Hell behind it.

Countless Abyssal Creatures scrambled over each other to cross the Gate of Hell, pouring into this world like a flood of locusts.

With the Gate of Hell behind them, they had an endless supply of troops. They had no fear, even if the Tier Fives from the Star Association and Fallen Paradise were to join forces—and besides, there was no way those two would ever cooperate!

They were determined to obtain their prize!

As tens of thousands of Abyssal Creatures surged out from the Gate of Hell—BOOM!

Alchemy Missiles came whistling through the air. In an instant, a sky full of blazing artillery fire rained down. Caught in the terrifying barrage, countless Abyssal Creatures were blasted into pulp.

Amidst the storm of cannon fire, a dazzling silver streak shot across the sky. A closer look revealed a figure clad in High-Tech Battle Armor, with six Vector Jet Steel Wings on its back. A sudden roar erupted, and a white sonic boom rippled outward as the figure charged headfirst toward a Tier Four Abyssal Creature.

The air tore around the steel body. Its hypersonic speed was accompanied by the brilliant flash of a blade, like a flowing river of stars weaving a net to envelop the Abyssal Creature.

An instant later, blood burst from innumerable wounds. The massive Wolf Beast’s body disintegrated, collapsing like a row of dominoes until it was nothing but a pile of shredded meat on the ground.

In a top-secret laboratory, countless people were reporting data.

“Godslaying Weapon status is nominal. Time to kill one Tier Four Abyssal Creature: one point three four seconds. Engine propulsion is normal.”

“And the contamination level?”

“Zero point one six. Lower than a Tier Four Ascender’s. Absolutely no signs of mutation.”

“Continue testing by killing Tier Four Abyssal Creatures. This is its first live combat test, so this data is crucial. I need everyone at a hundred and twenty percent. Don’t let a single thing go wrong!”

“Yes, sir!”

On the battlefield, the Godslaying Weapon weaved through the chaos like a silver meteor. The vector jet wings on its back granted it terrifyingly high speeds, and the unknown Long Saber in its hand easily sliced through the bodies of Tier Four Abyssal Creatures. In just ten seconds, it had already hunted and killed six Tier Four Abyssal Creatures, proving itself a horrifying killing machine.

“Oh? They had more prepared?” The Inciter, currently fending off an attack from the Dusk Knight, sounded somewhat surprised. He could see the endless Alchemy Cannon Fire and the densely packed legions of troops.

’Looks like they dug a huge pit for Chaos Purgatory.’

’If sacrificing a single Star Association branch is all it takes to deal a heavy blow to Chaos Purgatory, then no matter how you look at it, it’s a huge win…’

When Zhou Chen opened his eyes again, he thought he had arrived in Hell. The atmosphere was desolate and filled with a sinister cold. Once his vision cleared, he saw he was in a shopping mall—a remote one he had visited once or twice before.

He patted himself down in disbelief, even pulling down his pants to check. After confirming he hadn’t grown any new organs or lost any old ones, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

’Was that… the Divine Descent of the King of Chaos? I blacked out after that and lost my memory, but it looks like I’m not dead… Where am I?’ Zhou Chen scanned his surroundings but saw no trace of anyone else. He opened his backpack, and the sight of the Bloodthirsty Chainsaw inside gave him a sliver of confidence.

Gripping the chainsaw, he cautiously began to explore the floor. The loud boom of cannon fire echoed from outside, but he had no idea who was fighting whom.

A moment later, Zhou Chen pulled out his phone, surprised to see it actually had a signal. He had even received an emergency message.

[Attention all Star Association Operators. Due to the attack via Divine Descent by the King of Chaos, the Jinzhu City Star Association has enacted emergency evacuation measures, teleporting all personnel to safe locations. All Operators are to ensure their own safety while proceeding to the temporary command post to regroup.]

A location marker was attached to the emergency notice.

When Zhou Chen opened it, his expression froze.

The rendezvous point was a full ten kilometers away!

’I can hear fighting and explosions outside. I’m probably back where those Tier Fives are battling it out. A stray shockwave from them could obliterate me, and they expect me to run ten kilometers to regroup… This is…’ Zhou Chen sucked in a sharp breath, the whole situation giving him a headache. ’Why the hell did they have to teleport me so far away?!’

’Or was it a random teleport, and my luck is just that bad?’

After a deep sigh, Zhou Chen accepted his reality. Not heading to the rendezvous point was probably even more dangerous. If the Crowned Kings got too into their fight, this entire area would be destroyed, and a little ant like him would be crushed along with it. The temporary command post was likely the only place with any real defenses.

’Jiang Che definitely has the highest level of protection, so she’s probably fine. But Erin…’

Zhou Chen couldn’t help but worry for Erin’s safety. The curse would inevitably drag her into all sorts of life-threatening situations. With Jinzhu City currently so perilous, if Erin truly encountered danger, her prospects would be grim…

For now, all he could do was pray the worst wouldn’t happen.

He sent messages to Jiang Che and Erin asking how they were, then leaped from the mall’s third floor down to the first. He slipped cautiously out the main entrance and surveyed his surroundings.

’Hmm… I’m far from the temporary command post, but that also means I’m far from the Crowned Kings’ battlefield… Holy shit, is that the Abyssal Army?’ Zhou Chen stared blankly into the distance. A ceaseless tide of Abyssal Creatures poured from the Gate of Hell, more impatient than students scrambling for food in the cafeteria after the last bell.

The barrage of cannon fire never ceased, but the Abyssal Creatures were like an infestation of rats that could never be fully exterminated. They were overrunning Jinzhu City at an incredible speed, and it wouldn’t be long before they spread to his location.

Zhou Chen decisively pulled the Holy Fire Ring from his pocket and put it on. ’Those Abyssal Creatures look like they work for the King of Chaos, and I work for the King of Chaos, so we should all be one big, happy family… Like hell we are!’

Who the hell knew if those Abyssal Monsters would even recognize the Holy Fire Ring.

’I have to get out of here, and fast.’

Thankfully, he had previously acquired the Helandy Flying Boots and the Single Soldier Combat Armor. Both Alchemy Tools could boost his movement speed. Combined with the physique of an Ascender, he could cover the ten-kilometer distance in under ten minutes.

Assuming he didn’t run into any trouble along the way.

Activating his Battle Armor and Flying Boots, Zhou Chen took off, sprinting down the street.

Suddenly, a danger alert flashed on the control panel of his Single Soldier Combat Armor. He dove to the side, dodging a Walking Stick that lashed out from the shadow of a street sign. He rolled across the pavement and came up firing a shot back the way he came.

The large-caliber Alchemy Bullet was easily deflected by the Gentleman’s swinging Magic Wand, carving a divot into the asphalt road.

“We meet again.” The Gentleman leaned on his Walking Stick, offering a polite smile. His eyes, however, were full of menace and malice, glittering with hatred.

’How the hell are you here…’ Zhou Chen’s breath caught in his throat, but he quickly calmed himself. “How did you find me?”

“A coincidence. Should I say that my luck is excellent, or that yours is just terrible? I happened to be in the area, and I came over as soon as I sensed your presence.”

The Gentleman’s eyes were cold as ice, his smile a false veneer. “Do you remember what I said last time we met?”
