Lord of Perverted Ladies
Chapter 171: Reflections
Adrian stared into his own eyes.
The reflection stared back.
It had his face.
His eyes.
His voice.
But something about it was wrong.
It wasn’t evil.
It wasn’t angry.
It wasn’t even threatening.
It was simply unfamiliar.
Like looking at someone who had existed before Adrian knew what a person was.
The reflection tilted its head.
"You’re afraid."
Adrian didn’t answer.
His father stood behind him.
His mother was nowhere to be seen.
Neither were the others.
There was only Adrian, his reflection, and the endless white space.
The reflection smiled.
"You were always afraid."
Adrian clenched his fists.
"Of what?"
"Of becoming me."
Adrian frowned.
"I don’t know you."
"Yes, you do."
The reflection placed its hand against the surface beneath them.
The white floor rippled like water.
"You simply gave me different names."
Aeris appeared in the reflection.
Then the Creator.
Then the Nameless.
Then the seven versions.
Power.
Knowledge.
Revenge.
Understanding.
Escape.
Transcendence.
Humanity.
They appeared one after another.
The reflection looked at Adrian.
"Every time you discovered something you didn’t like about yourself, you gave it a name."
Adrian looked away.
"That isn’t true."
"Isn’t it?"
The reflection raised its hand.
Aeris appeared.
"You called this one your past."
The Creator appeared.
"You called this one your mistake."
The Nameless appeared.
"You called this one your failure."
The seven versions appeared.
"You called these your possibilities."
Then the reflection itself remained.
"And me?"
Adrian swallowed.
"What did I call you?"
The reflection smiled.
"Nothing."
The answer hurt.
Adrian remembered the Nameless.
The child who had been erased.
The failed Adrian who couldn’t choose.
The part of himself he had carried without knowing.
But this was different.
The Nameless had been someone.
This thing existed before someone.
Before a name.
Before identity.
Before even the question of who he was.
Adrian stepped closer.
"Were you there when I was born?"
"No."
"When I became Aeris?"
"No."
"When I became Adrian?"
"No."
"Then when?"
The reflection pointed toward the infinite white space.
"Before all of that."
Adrian’s father finally spoke.
"This is the part of you that existed before you knew you could be someone."
Adrian turned toward him.
"You knew?"
His father nodded.
"I saw it once."
"When?"
"Before your mother found you."
Adrian’s expression changed.
"You saw me before she found me?"
"Yes."
"Then why didn’t you tell her?"
His father looked toward the reflection.
"Because I didn’t understand what I was looking at."
The reflection laughed softly.
"You still don’t."
His father didn’t respond.
Adrian turned back.
"What was I?"
The reflection’s smile disappeared.
"You were a question without a question."
Adrian frowned.
"That makes no sense."
"It will."
The white space suddenly vanished.
Adrian found himself standing in darkness.
But this darkness was different from the one before.
There were no stars.
No worlds.
No possibilities.
No laws.
Nothing.
Then Adrian heard something.
A heartbeat.
One beat.
Then another.
The sound grew louder.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Adrian looked down.
There was no body.
Yet the heartbeat was coming from him.
His reflection stood opposite him.
"Before existence," it said, "there was silence."
Another heartbeat.
"Before possibility, there was silence."
Another.
"Before choice..."
The reflection looked directly at him.
"Silence."
Adrian understood.
"This is the place before the First Choice."
"Yes."
"Then how was I here?"
"You weren’t."
The answer was immediate.
Adrian’s eyes narrowed.
"Then what am I seeing?"
"Your first memory."
"My first memory?"
"No."
The reflection smiled.
"Your first possibility of having a memory."
Adrian stared.
The distinction felt absurd.
Yet somehow it made sense.
The world around him began filling with faint lights.
Not stars.
Thoughts.
Millions of incomplete thoughts.
Some became people.
Others became worlds.
Some vanished before becoming anything.
Adrian watched one possibility become a tree.
Another became an ocean.
Another became a creature.
Another became a world with no sky.
Another became a child.
And another became him.
Except this version of him never chose.
It remained suspended.
Waiting.
Adrian recognized it.
The first failed Adrian.
The Nameless.
But there were others.
Hundreds.
Thousands.
Every possible version of himself that could have existed.
One became a tyrant.
One became a Creator.
One became a monster.
One became a hero.
One disappeared.
One never developed consciousness.
One lived an ordinary human life.
One died before adulthood.
One never met his mother.
One never met his father.
One never asked why.
Adrian watched them disappear.
"You were all possible."
The reflection nodded.
"But only one continued."
"Me."
"Yes."
"Why?"
The reflection pointed toward one tiny possibility.
Adrian.
A child without a name.
He was standing alone.
He looked around.
There was nothing.
Then he asked:
"Is anyone there?"
The words echoed.
Adrian’s heart tightened.
He knew what came next.
Nobody answered.
The child waited.
Then asked again.
"Is anyone there?"
Still nothing.
The child lowered his head.
And then, slowly, he did something no possibility had done before.
He chose to continue waiting.
Adrian’s eyes widened.
"That was the First Choice."
"No."
The reflection shook its head.
"That was before Choice."
"Then what was it?"
"Desire."
Adrian went still.
Desire.
The evolution he had already passed.
The thing that had emerged from emotion.
The thing that wanted to exist.
But now he understood.
Desire hadn’t begun with the ocean.
It had begun with him.
The first desire wasn’t wanting power.
It wasn’t wanting love.
It wasn’t wanting freedom.
It was simply:
I want someone to answer.
The reflection continued.
"That desire created the first possibility."
"Choice."
"No."
"Then what?"
"Connection."
Adrian looked at the child.
The child raised his head.
And for the first time, another voice answered.
"I’m here."
Adrian froze.
It was his father’s voice.
The memory changed.
His father appeared beside the child.
He knelt.
The child looked at him.
"Who are you?"
His father smiled.
"I don’t know."
"Are you real?"
"I think so."
"Why are you here?"
His father looked toward the endless darkness.
"Because you asked."
Adrian’s chest tightened.
His father had not created him.
He had not given him existence.
He had answered.
That was different.
The first connection.
The first relationship.
The first time Adrian’s existence changed because another being acknowledged it.
Adrian looked at his father.
"You heard me."
"Yes."
"You answered."
"Yes."
"And that’s why you chose me."
His father nodded.
"You weren’t chosen because you were powerful."
"Or special."
"No."
"Or destined."
"No."
"Then why?"
His father looked at him.
"Because you were alone."
Adrian’s eyes burned.
His father continued.
"I knew what it meant to be alone."
The memory shifted.
His father stood alone in the darkness.
He had existed for what seemed like an eternity.
No family.
No children.
No one to speak to.
Then he heard the smallest voice imaginable.
"Is anyone there?"
And for the first time...
he wasn’t alone.
Adrian looked down.
The reflection was crying.
"You were my first family."
Adrian stared.
The reflection wiped its tears.
"Before you called him father, you called him nothing."
Adrian looked toward his father.
"And before I called myself Adrian?"
The reflection answered.
"You called yourself..."
It stopped.
Adrian waited.
"What?"
The reflection shook its head.
"I can’t say it."
"Why?"
"Because you never gave that name to yourself."
The darkness trembled.
Something enormous moved beyond it.
The same shadow from before appeared.
But this time, it didn’t approach.
It watched.
Adrian looked toward it.
"You know my first name."
The shadow remained silent.
His father stepped forward.
"Don’t ask it."
Adrian turned.
"Why?"
"Because some names are not names."
"What does that mean?"
His father looked at the reflection.
"A name tells the world what something is."
He looked at Adrian.
"But your first name told the world what you could become."
Adrian stared.
Aeris had been his first identity.
But now even Aeris seemed like something that came later.
A role.
A shape.
A chosen direction.
Not the beginning.
The reflection slowly stepped closer.
"You’ve spent all this time trying to find the person you were before Adrian."
Adrian nodded.
"But that’s the wrong question."
"What is the right one?"
The reflection smiled.
"Who were you before you needed to be a person?"
Adrian couldn’t answer.
The darkness began collapsing.
The reflection reached out.
Adrian hesitated.
Then took its hand.
The moment their fingers touched, everything entered him.
Not memories.
Not knowledge.
Feelings.
The loneliness before existence.
The first desire.
The fear of disappearing.
The need to be acknowledged.
The moment his father answered.
The first connection.
The first choice.
The first identity.
The first mistake.
The first love.
The first loss.
The first time Adrian’s existence affected someone else.
Everything.
Adrian screamed.
His father grabbed his shoulder.
"Stay with me!"
Adrian’s eyes opened.
The white world returned.
His mother was there.
His brother.
The Nameless.
Eve.
The Guardian.
Elia.
Noah.
Ryan.
Aeron.
The forgotten children.
Everyone was watching him.
His mother ran toward him.
"Adrian!"
She embraced him.
He stood completely still.
Then slowly hugged her back.
His brother approached.
"Are you okay?"
Adrian looked at him.
"No."
His brother smiled.
"Good."
Adrian laughed.
A real laugh.
For the first time in what felt like forever.
Then the System appeared.
Not in the sky.
Not in his mind.
It appeared as a small line of text floating between everyone.
ORIGIN: REMEMBERED
Another line appeared.
FIRST DESIRE: REMEMBERED
Then:
FIRST CONNECTION: REMEMBERED
Then:
FIRST IDENTITY: UNKNOWN
Adrian stared at the final message.
"Unknown?"
His father stepped forward.
"Yes."
Adrian looked at him.
"You still don’t know?"
His father smiled.
"No."
Adrian looked toward the shadow.
"Do you?"
The shadow finally answered.
"No."
Adrian’s eyes narrowed.
"Then nobody knows who I was before all this."
The shadow moved.
For the first time, it seemed almost amused.
"You still don’t understand."
"What?"
"You were never someone before you became someone."
Adrian remained silent.
The shadow continued.
"You are searching for a person who existed before identity."
Adrian looked at his reflection.
The reflection smiled.
"You won’t find them."
"Why?"
"Because they don’t exist anymore."
Adrian’s expression softened.
"Then maybe that’s okay."
The reflection nodded.
Adrian looked at his mother.
Then his father.
His brother.
The Nameless.
His family.
His friends.
Everyone who had become part of his identity.
"I don’t need to know who I was."
The shadow became still.
Adrian smiled.
"I only need to know who I choose to be."
The System flickered.
IDENTITY: SELF-DETERMINED
Then:
ORIGIN EVOLUTION: COMPLETE
Everyone waited.
Adrian expected another evolution.
Another enemy.
Another question.
Another door.
But nothing happened.
The System remained silent.
Adrian looked around.
"That’s it?"
Eve smiled.
"For once."
The Guardian laughed.
"Perhaps."
Then the wooden car appeared.
It floated in front of Adrian.
Its blank circle slowly filled.
Not with a symbol.
With a name.
ADRIAN
Adrian reached out.
The wooden car landed in his palm.
The moment he touched it, every previous symbol disappeared.
Only one word remained.
HOME
Adrian stared at it.
His mother smiled through her tears.
His father stepped beside her.
His brother stood on the other side.
For the first time, Adrian understood something simple.
Home wasn’t where he had come from.
It wasn’t the Beginning.
It wasn’t the Origin.
It wasn’t the place where he had first existed.
Home was where his choices had led him.
He looked at his family.
Then at the endless world beyond them.
And smiled.
"I think I’m ready."
The shadow tilted its head.
"For what?"
Adrian looked toward the horizon.
"To stop looking backward."
The shadow disappeared.
For a moment, everything was peaceful.
Then the ocean began shaking.
A new sound echoed from beneath it.
Not laughter.
Not crying.
Not a voice.
A heartbeat.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Adrian’s smile faded.
The Guardian looked toward the sea.
"That isn’t part of the evolution."
Eve’s expression became serious.
"No."
Adrian stepped forward.
"What is it?"
His father looked at the ocean.
And for the first time since Adrian had met him...
he looked afraid.
"Something that existed before you."
The ocean split open.
And from beneath the world...
something began to rise.
