Chapter 3446

Qi Shengyu’s followers trailing behind them were puzzled as well.

“They should have reached the territory of fourth-level Taixu ferocious beasts by now, right? How are they still moving so quickly?”

“It must be Chen Yueying using them for practice! Otherwise, with those guards’ cultivation levels, how could they possibly deal with such powerful ferocious beasts? Chen Yueying probably brought them here just to help clean up the ferocious beasts’ corpses.”

“When do we make our move?”

“Don’t rush. Wait until they reach their destination. The Shadowless Grass is at the boundary between the territories of fourth- and fifth-level ferocious beasts. Once they spread out to search, we’ll take the opportunity to attack those guards.”

After discussing it among themselves, the group still did not take Ye Liuyun and the other guards seriously. They continued following far behind.

Before long, Ye Liuyun and the others reached the area designated for the mission and began searching.

The Shadowless Grass they were looking for was rather unusual. Whenever it sensed someone approaching or detected any movement, it would retreat beneath the ground. Thus, they could not simply search for it directly. They had to extend their divine sense to search for it, then go over and dig it out of the ground once they found it.

Ye Liuyun did not need anyone else to act. He extended his divine sense across a radius of five li and searched the area meticulously. He soon found one, hurried over, and dug it out.

“This mission... is far too easy for you!” Chen Yueying, Liao Yaotian, and the others were speechless. Ye Liuyun was simply too fast.

Ye Liuyun glanced into the distance and asked them, “Why don’t we make it a little more difficult, then?”

Chen Yueying smiled. “I knew you wouldn’t be satisfied with such a simple mission. If you want to keep going, go ahead. We’ll follow behind you!”

“That’s right, that’s right. We’ll follow behind you!”

Liao Yaotian immediately chimed in. The territory of fifth-level Taixu ferocious beasts lay ahead. The few of them would be of no help if they went in, so they could only rely on Ye Liuyun.

“Then let’s give it a try and see how it goes!” Ye Liuyun immediately decided to continue forward and see what happened.

He felt that the ferocious beasts here were not very densely packed, making it ideal for him to practice against them one at a time and see exactly how far he could go. Even if he encountered an opponent he could not defeat, the power of his soul would ensure that everyone could retreat safely.

“After you, then!” Liao Yaotian made an inviting gesture, letting Ye Liuyun lead the way.

“First, let’s deal with the tails following us, so they don’t cause trouble for us later!”

Ye Liuyun had also noticed that the six men had begun speeding up as they approached.

“Tails? Who?” Chen Yueying only became wary then. She had not noticed those people following them at all.

“Wait here and prepare for battle. Be careful of ferocious beasts launching a sneak attack. Tianlin and Chen Mo will stay with you. I’ll take Brother Tian in another direction for a while. If you’re with us, they won’t make a move!”

Ye Liuyun did not say who he meant. He merely took Liao Yaotian and put some distance between themselves and Chen Yueying, creating an opportunity for those people to attack.

When the disciples approached, they found that the group had split up. Ye Liuyun and Liao Yaotian, the two they most wanted to kill, happened to be together. Delighted, they immediately sped up and surrounded them.

Only then did Chen Yueying realize that they were the people from around Qi Shengyu.

“Qi Shengyu?” She found it somewhat unbelievable.

“Does the princess remember how the commander warned you to beware of a petty villain like Qi Shengyu? He probably noticed those people back then. And it seems that villain really has been driven to desperation and is planning to attack you. You should be more careful from now on.

“From what I’ve observed of the commander, he would never casually warn someone like that! He was a major figure even in the lower realm, and he must have experienced a great deal. He wouldn’t say such things recklessly.”

Qi Tianlin was meticulous in observing matters and also understood Ye Liuyun fairly well. He felt that Chen Yueying was not taking Ye Liuyun’s words seriously enough and was worried she would suffer for it.

After all, he was a guard as well. If anything happened to Chen Yueying, he would not escape blame.

“Mm!” Only then did Chen Yueying nod solemnly.

Suddenly, her divine sense detected a fourth-level Taixu cheetah speeding toward them.

Could this fellow actually be capable of divining the workings of heaven? How could he calculate everything so accurately? He had even warned me in advance about a ferocious beast’s sneak attack? Chen Yueying wondered to herself, then immediately told Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo to prepare for battle as well.

In truth, Ye Liuyun had not guessed this. He had already noticed that the cheetah from the neighboring ferocious beast territory was approaching. It had probably sensed that the ferocious beast originally occupying this area had been killed and wanted to seize the territory, which was why he had warned them.

He had simply dealt extensively with all kinds of people and ferocious beasts and understood their characteristics fairly well, so he had been able to take precautions in advance.

The six disciples had not intended to ambush Ye Liuyun and the others. After surrounding them, they revealed themselves directly. What they had not expected was that Ye Liuyun would not even need to act personally; with a soul attack, he directly planted slave seals in all of them.

Ye Liuyun made them hand over all the resources they were carrying. He then burned the remaining storage rings and identity tokens together before putting them all into his Spatial World for future practice.

“Uh... you’re far too strong. You handled everything by yourself, which makes the few of us look rather useless!” Liao Yaotian could only shake his head.

Ye Liuyun was only at the second level of Taixu, yet he had already begun using fourth-level Taixu martial cultivators for practice. The gap was simply too great.

“Everyone’s situation is different, and everyone has their own strengths. I’m only stronger in certain areas. I’m not this strong in everything.” Ye Liuyun even offered him a word of consolation.

“What aspect of your strength is weak?” Liao Yaotian asked defiantly.

Ye Liuyun thought about it. His weakest area really was the power of heaven and earth. However, he could not say that, because even his power of heaven and earth was far stronger than theirs. If he said so, it would be too discouraging for them.

“My cultivation realm is low!” In the end, he could only say it with a smile.

“You’re shameless! You’re already this strong with a low cultivation realm. If your realm were any higher, would you even let us live?” Liao Yaotian shot him a sidelong glance.

The two of them chatted and laughed as they walked back.

By then, Chen Yueying had already begun fighting the cheetah with Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo. Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo merely used their treasures and weapons to block the cheetah and prevent it from escaping.

Chen Yueying had also begun using Spatial Force. Clearly inspired by Ye Liuyun, she wanted to practice applying it more. However, she was still unfamiliar with it and could only barely hold her own against the cheetah.

Ye Liuyun could tell that she was using the fight for practice, so he did not hurry over. Instead, he took the opportunity to let her stretch her muscles, lest she grow bored from always following behind them.

After fighting for a while, the cheetah realized that it was expending a great deal of true essence yet still could not do anything to Chen Yueying, so it tried to retreat as quickly as possible.

Only then did Chen Yueying unleash her full strength. She pursued the cheetah with Spatial Force, drew her longsword to enhance the might of her attacks, and ultimately killed it.
