Liao Yaotian cast an apologetic look at Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo, then said to Zhao Yuanpei, “Your Highness, you see? I was afraid you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. Even we wouldn’t dare believe it if our positions were reversed!”

“But the commander said he possessed the power of flame. You’ve witnessed that power yourself—it would have no trouble burning an entire planet to ashes. That’s why he dared to go!”

Zhao Yuanpei thought it over and felt that it made sense.

Ye Liuyun’s flames were indeed terrifying, and even he dared not approach them. If he wanted to deal with Ye Liuyun, he would have to strike first and kill him in a single blow with a soul attack.

At this thought, Zhao Yuanpei pondered for a moment before threatening Liao Yaotian again. “If you dare deceive me, you’re dead!”

“I wouldn’t dare. Absolutely not!” Liao Yaotian hastily assured him.

Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo were both filled with disdain at his obsequious appearance. Chen Mo even spat on the ground and cursed, “I must have been blind!”

“I’m only doing this for the sake of you two!” Liao Yaotian explained.

But the two of them looked away, too disgusted to even spare him a glance.

Zhao Yuanpei saw all of this and felt that Liao Yaotian did not seem to be lying.

“I’ll believe you this once. But if you dare deceive me, I’ll butcher you!”

After saying this, Zhao Yuanpei flicked his sleeve and left the military camp.

Only after he had left did Liao Yaotian explain to Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo that this was all what Ye Liuyun had instructed him to do. Ye Liuyun was luring Zhao Yuanpei to an uninhabited planet.

“What? The commander is going to...” Qi Tianlin cried out in shock and nearly shouted the rest, but Liao Yaotian rushed over in a single stride and clamped a hand over his mouth.

He then transmitted to the two of them, “Do you have a death wish? How dare you say this out loud? Be careful—walls have ears. Bury this in your stomachs. Liuyun is going to avenge our brothers. We mustn’t hold him back. Even if we’re beaten to death, we can’t let this get out!”

Qi Tianlin and Chen Mo nodded repeatedly. It took them quite some time to calm down before they resumed their own tasks. From that day onward, however, the three of them were restless every day as they waited for Ye Liuyun to return, terrified that something might happen to him.

No matter what, Zhao Yuanpei was a martial cultivator at the fourth level of the Grand Void Realm. Moreover, he was the eldest son of the True Martial Marquis, so he was certain to possess life-saving trump cards.

They were worried that Ye Liuyun might fail to kill Zhao Yuanpei and instead be killed by him, or that Zhao Yuanpei might escape and hunt Ye Liuyun down in the future.

Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun was watching Zhao Yuanpei’s movements from the starry sky.

As soon as Zhao Yuanpei received word that Ye Liuyun had left, he immediately went to find Haitai and told him that he was leaving the military camp to return to the marquis’s estate.

Haitai already knew that Zhao Yuanpei was going to deal with Ye Liuyun. He sighed inwardly, feeling that this heir really was hopeless. He had everything he could possibly want, yet instead of cultivating diligently, he insisted on seizing the soldiers’ possessions.

However, he said nothing outwardly. He merely agreed, reported the matter to Zhao Yu’an, and then stopped concerning himself with it. Now that Zhao Yuanpei had left, whatever happened outside the military camp had nothing to do with him, and he had no interest in meddling in other people’s affairs.

Even Haitai could never have imagined that Ye Liuyun would be bold enough to scheme against and kill the heir. He would not even have dared to imagine such a thing.

He had expected Ye Liuyun to cross paths with the heir, but he should not have dared to attack him. Besides, Zhao Yuanpei ought to have life-saving trump cards of his own.

As for Ye Liuyun, Haitai did not contact him with a transmission talisman to warn him. Every powerhouse had to endure some trials and setbacks. If Ye Liuyun could not get through this ordeal, it could only mean that his luck was terrible.

Ye Liuyun watched Zhao Yuanpei from the starry sky until he saw him leave the military camp and then the city. Only after Zhao Yuanpei released a third-grade Void-Rank flying vessel and sent it racing in his direction did Ye Liuyun release his own flying vessel.

Fortunately, his flying vessel was also third-grade Void Rank. Otherwise, Zhao Yuanpei would have caught up with him almost immediately.

Once Zhao Yuanpei’s flying vessel entered the starry sky, it quickly detected Ye Liuyun’s trail. He did not recognize the vessel and could not see who was inside, but judging from the distance and timing, as well as the fact that it was heading west toward an uninhabited planet, it was probably Ye Liuyun.

He immediately drove the flying vessel at full speed in pursuit. Unexpectedly, he still could not catch up.

“Damn brat! Just wait until I catch you. I’ll tear you limb from limb!”

He inwardly felt that Ye Liuyun was wasting his time. Haitai had been reporting his departure from the military camp to Zhao Yu’an, and Zhao Yuanpei had been there at the time. Since he had spent so long outside, he was worried that Zhao Yu’an would question him.

But Ye Liuyun’s flying vessel was the same rank as his. Unless Ye Liuyun stopped, Zhao Yuanpei could not catch him even if he gave it his all. He could not bear to give up this opportunity, so he could only continue doggedly pursuing him.

“Heh heh. Since you insist on seeking death, then follow me!”

Up ahead, Ye Liuyun was also accelerating his flying vessel with all his might, eager to reach that uninhabited planet as soon as possible.

If he attacked here, others would suspect that he had killed Zhao Yuanpei. If he waited until they reached the uninhabited planet, it would still arouse suspicion, but he could claim that Zhao Yuanpei had been killed by the vicious beasts there. With the victim dead, there would be no proof.

He was also worried that the marquis’s estate might possess some special method of discovering that he had made the attack, so he deliberately altered his appearance and clothing to ensure that no one could recognize him.

The uninhabited planet to the west was not particularly far away. A third-grade Void-Rank flying vessel could reach it in three days at full speed. However, Ye Liuyun’s Golden Eyes detected quite a few vicious beasts on the planet, and their realms were not low. They were all at the third or fourth level of the Grand Void Realm, and they were fairly densely distributed.

There was a deep canyon whose interior was obscured by mist, making it difficult to see clearly. However, he spotted quite a few Cang Apes moving about on both sides of the canyon.

There was also a group of martial cultivators heading into the canyon, apparently exploring it.

Before Ye Liuyun had even landed, he heard the roar of a vicious beast from aboard the flying vessel. It sounded like the cry of a Cang Ape, and its realm seemed to be around the fourth or fifth level of the Grand Void Realm.

Ye Liuyun paid no attention to what the cry meant. After sweeping the area with his Golden Eyes, he descended toward a safe location.

There were fewer vicious beasts there, and it was not too far from the canyon, making it the perfect place to eliminate Zhao Yuanpei.

After landing, Ye Liuyun immediately put away the flying vessel and used Spatial Force to conceal himself, waiting for Zhao Yuanpei to arrive. Zhao Yuanpei soon landed at the same location and began searching for Ye Liuyun’s whereabouts with his divine sense.

Ye Liuyun’s Spatial Force was child’s play to him as well, and he soon discovered Ye Liuyun.

“What are you skulking around for?” He struck directly with one palm, blasting Ye Liuyun out of the void.

To his surprise, however, the person who emerged was not Ye Liuyun, but a middle-aged martial cultivator at the second level of the Grand Void Realm.

“Who are you, and why have you been following me?” Ye Liuyun also pretended to be confused as he questioned Zhao Yuanpei. He even took out a fifth-grade Void-Rank square seal and assumed a stance that suggested he was prepared to fight to the death.

“What?” Only then did Zhao Yuanpei realize that the person he had been following all along was not Ye Liuyun.

But seeing that the martial cultivator was only at the second level of the Grand Void Realm, he paid it no mind.

“It’s a misunderstanding. You’re not the person I’m looking for. You may leave!” he said casually to Ye Liuyun.
