Chapter 470 - 218: These Are Low-Level Races?
Chapter 470: Chapter 218: These Are Low-Level Races?
Watching the Bear Race Warriors change their formation, Chief Kandar was filled with confusion.
’So fast? Are these still the Bear Race brutes I know?’
As a seasoned veteran of the battlefield, Chief Kandar had a keen eye for sizing up his opponents.
In his eyes, the ones holding the front line for that group of Bear Race brutes had clearly changed.
A group of Bear Race Warriors in iron armor, armed to the teeth, had been moved to the front line.
Clearly, the opposing Gray Rock Bear Race had done this intentionally.
’Those damn bears are starting to use their heads...’
But this wasn’t what surprised Chief Kandar the most. What truly astonished him was that not only had the bears started using their brains, but their speed in changing formation was also far too quick.
When the enemy began changing their formation, the two sides were barely a hundred meters apart. And yet, within that short distance, the Bear Race Warriors had already completely rotated their front line.
’Even though they’re the Gray Rock Bear Race, a far cry from the Bear Races within the Beastman Empire, shouldn’t such massive creatures be naturally slow?’
’It only took a few seconds...’
For a moment, a sense of foreboding welled up in Chief Kandar’s heart.
But the feeling didn’t last long.
’The enemy may be elite, but I, Kandar, am no slouch either.’
"For the Empire!"
"Kandar’s Blood Warriors! Follow me!"
Chief Kandar roared, raising his arm.
"As you command."
A moment later, a group of about a hundred burly Tiger Race Warriors appeared behind Chief Kandar.
An unmistakable Extraordinary aura radiated from these Warriors!
These men were one of Chief Kandar’s greatest assets. They were Extraordinary Warriors gathered from the various tribes, thanks to a system unique to the Tiger Race’s Royal Family. This system was one of the reasons the Tiger Race had become the Royal Family and maintained its considerable strength.
"For the Empire! For His Majesty, the Beast God!"
The Warriors followed closely behind Chief Kandar. Soon, the hundred or so men had formed a wedge, charging straight for the Gray Rock Bear Race Warriors.
"Form up! Shield Array!"
Seeing that the enemy had over a hundred Extraordinary Warriors, Chief Mole’s expression shifted slightly.
The Gray Rock Bear Race had long ago broken away from the Beastman Empire. Leaving the major power meant they were destined to have fewer Extraordinary resources. For their Warriors, awakening as Extraordinary depended entirely on natural talent. This was also why they had come to the Centaur Clan for help when facing the beast tide.
Although he had experience from the battle at the Centaur King City, Chief Mole had not actually faced a large-scale Centaur Extraordinary Team in that fight.
The bloodthirsty storm whipped up by over ten thousand Gnolls had been simply terrifying.
Therefore, facing the Tiger Race’s large-scale Extraordinary Corps, Chief Mole chose the safest method.
Forming a Shield Array!
Chief Kandar snorted coldly at the sight.
’What good is a bunch of bears that only know how to fight head-on against Tiger Race Blood Warriors?’
His gaze locked onto Chief Mole, and both commanders instantly recognized each other’s status.
The battle erupted in a flash.
As Chief Kandar engaged the enemy, the Tiger Race Warriors across the battlefield immediately clashed with the Gnolls and earth goblins.
At that moment, the hearts of the Tiger Race Warriors were filled with nothing but contempt. Their thoughts were not so different from Chief Kandar’s.
’Why send us to deal with this trash? Who are they looking down on?’
You really couldn’t blame the Tiger Race Warriors for underestimating their enemy.
The news of the Centaur King City’s destruction had not yet spread, so the Tiger Race Warriors had no idea how terrifying these Gnolls were once their bloodlust was unleashed.
However, while they had never seen the terrifying side of the Gnolls, they had seen more than enough of their weakness.
On the Beastman Grassland, the strong reigned supreme, and the lower-class races were, without a doubt, the weak.
Kobolds, for example, were what the Tiger Race used for moving target practice. Gnolls were treated slightly better—they would be thrown into a cage to watch two Jackal Wolfman Warriors fight to the death.
In the beginning, some had resisted, but it always came to nothing in the end.
Over time, the lower-class races grew accustomed to this life. Even the sharpest of stones eventually get worn down.
The Tiger Race Warriors were convinced this battle would be no different from the countless ones before. They believed that after a few roars and lopping off a couple of Gnoll heads, the rest would turn tail and flee.
But soon, some Tiger Race Warriors realized that something seemed different this time.
These Gnolls and earth goblins were missing something in their eyes. That something was fear.
The Tiger Race Warriors discovered that these Gnolls and earth goblins no longer tried to flee for miles at the very sight of them. Instead, with eyes blazing with fury, they were charging forward... as if looking at prey?
That’s right! Prey!
Thanks to Robson’s earlier preparations, the Alien Race army now had a system similar to the one in Lord Robson’s own forces: the more you kill, the more you earn. The only catch was that this system was limited to those who had been blessed by Lord Robson—the Alien Race Warriors who appeared on his Mount & Blade panel.
In the eyes of the Alien Race Warriors, the heads of these Tiger Race People were worth their weight in cattle and sheep...
As for the innate fear that lower-class races felt toward higher-class ones? For both the earth goblins and the Gnolls, their primary oppressors had always been the Centaurs.
The Centaurs had once inspired terror in them, but that terror had been extinguished, scattered on the winds of the grassland just like the ashes from the great fire at the Centaur King City.
The battle at the Centaur King City had taught the warriors of the lower-class races one definitive lesson: the so-called Royal Family could bleed.
"You damned creature! How dare you look at me like that!"
"Kneel! Let me show you who your master is!"
The Tiger Race Warriors flew into a rage upon realizing they were being treated as prey by a pack of goblins and Gnolls.
Even among the Tiger Race, they were individuals of status and standing.
"For the Lord Emissary!"
After fighting for only a few moments, the Tiger Race Warriors immediately noticed something else was wrong.
’How are these lower-class races... so strong?’
Among the current twenty thousand Gnolls and earth goblins, over a quarter of them were Tier Five Warriors!
A Tier Five Warrior, it should be noted, was equivalent to a human Tier Four. And while the army dispatched by Prince Trilman was called elite, it was actually composed primarily of Tier Three Tiger Race Warriors.
In an ordinary army, Tier Three already qualified as a proper elite.
The longer the two sides clashed, the more strongly the Tiger Race Warriors felt it.
Although the Gnoll and earth goblin Warriors were short and couldn’t compare to them in stature,
But the Jackal Wolfman Warriors made full use of the advantages of their smaller size.
’And what’s more, these lower-class races might be small, but their strength is anything but!’
