Lord: I Grind EXP with Warband Panel
Chapter 468 - 216: Breakout
Chapter 468: Chapter 216: Breakout
Robson looked up. He had, of course, noticed Huang Na’s movements as well.
It was something Robson and the chieftains of the other races had arranged long ago.
The plan was for Huang Na to fly out and circle a few times once they began moving into their designated positions.
It couldn’t be helped; in this era, it was the simplest method of communication available.
Seeing Huang Na flying in the sky, Robson felt a bit more at ease.
At least, for now, everything was proceeding according to his plan. Barring any surprises, this Beastman army would not be leaving this place today.
...
Meanwhile, inside the Beastman Camp.
The phoenix in the sky drew everyone’s attention.
There are no forests on the plains, so there aren’t actually many magical beasts.
A beautiful creature like the phoenix was also a symbol for many tribes.
Prince Trilman and General Wilson naturally noticed it as well.
Unlike the other Beastmen, the sight of the phoenix in the sky made Prince Trilman’s face drain of color.
The others might not know, but he certainly did.
This phoenix was the magical beast of none other than the enemy’s human general, Robson!
’How did this phoenix get above our camp so silently?’
’Don’t tell me the humans have another trick up their sleeve?!’
Prince Trilman looked toward the battlefield.
In the distance, General Oles was leading several thousand soldiers of the Tiger Race, locked in a stalemate with the humans.
But this sight brought Prince Trilman no joy whatsoever.
General Oles, caught in the heat of battle, might not be able to see the disparity, but from the camp, Prince Trilman could see it with perfect clarity.
His Tiger Race People in the distance outnumbered the human Warriors by a full two to one!
’Twice the numbers! What did that even imply?!’
And what’s more, those Tiger Race Warriors were the most elite Soldiers under his command.
And even so, the two sides were only fighting to a stalemate!
Prince Trilman might have considered that there would be a difference in their Warriors’ strength, but he had never imagined the disparity would be this enormous.
It was no exaggeration to say the enemy completely outclassed his own forces.
’If another group of human Soldiers were to appear on our path of retreat right now...’
Prince Trilman didn’t dare imagine the scene.
And it wasn’t an impossibility. They had to remember, their earlier reconnaissance had spotted a full eight thousand humans, yet it was estimated that not even half that number had appeared on the battlefield so far.
Prince Trilman waited anxiously.
Fortunately, they were the Tiger Race’s Elite Army, and the Thunderhawks were pulling their weight.
Before long, two Thunder Eagle Knights arrived before Prince Trilman simultaneously.
"Your Highness! We’ve discovered a large force of lower-class races ten li ahead.
They number around twenty thousand."
This news was within Prince Trilman’s expectations.
In fact, he had long since detected this army of lower-class races attempting to circle around behind them.
But what kind of trouble could a group of lower-class races possibly cause?
It wasn’t that Prince Trilman was being arrogant and looking down on them, even after the Gnolls had destroyed the Centaur King City.
The main reason was that Prince Trilman believed he was leading the elites of the Tiger Race.
Although the Centaur King City had been destroyed, the Centaurs’ elite forces hadn’t been in the Royal Capital!
Furthermore, according to Prince Trilman’s analysis, the main reason those Gnolls had been able to destroy the Centaur King City was thanks to a bloodlust enhancement.
And Prince Trilman understood this "bloodlust" all too well.
The enemy had applied bloodlust to so many Gnolls last time; it was impossible for them to recover so quickly.
Of course, the most important reason was that Prince Trilman didn’t want to waste his troops intercepting them.
If the humans managed to pick those forces off, it would be a disaster. He was already on uncertain footing...
Having learned it was an army of lower-class races, Prince Trilman turned to the other Thunder Eagle Warrior.
"Your Highness, more than a thousand human cavalry are ten li to the east! Several hundred of them are heavily armored, and they are heading straight for us," the Thunder Eagle Warrior reported.
More than a thousand human cavalry, several hundred in heavy armor...
Upon receiving this news, Prince Trilman’s heart sank.
’Just as I thought...’
His worst fears had been realized. The enemy general had used a small force to pin down their elite rearguard, and still had enough power left over to launch another attack.
The renowned Fengman Knight Order and the recently famous Robson Knight Order had yet to even make an appearance.
The Robson Knight Order was, in truth, just a cavalry team. However, the team was starkly divided; its elite troops were almost entirely composed of sixth-rank warriors. Their strength was so overwhelming that the Beastmen mistook them for a proper Knight Order.
As for why they called it the Robson Knight Order, it was because the Beastmen didn’t know the name Affleck, nor did they know about Robson’s domain or his family.
Muttering to himself, Prince Trilman glanced at General Wilson beside him.
The entire army currently had over a thousand Extraordinary individuals. Excluding the various Officers, that left about eight hundred.
Of these eight hundred, half were the Royal Family Guard Prince Trilman had brought, while the other half belonged to General Wilson’s Madar Palace Defense Army.
In Prince Trilman’s view, he had already dispatched his own troops to face the humans’ frontal assault.
Now, it was General Wilson’s turn to make a move, no matter what. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Although Prince Trilman knew that the Madar Palace Defense Army under General Wilson’s command served more of a symbolic than a practical purpose.
’But you can’t just be a symbol, can you? What was the point of you even coming?’
Sensing Prince Trilman’s gaze, General Wilson remained perfectly composed.
"His Highness Prince, feel free to give the order. However, you must bear the consequences alone," General Wilson said.
Hearing this, Prince Trilman clenched his fists.
’That line again. "Bear the consequences alone" just means he isn’t going to help.’
"General, things have come to this. Are you still going to keep your blade sheathed?" Prince Trilman asked.
"You are the commander-in-chief of this army. We will obey your orders," said General Wilson.
’Damned bureaucrat!’
Prince Trilman swore he had never despised the bureaucracy of the Beastman Empire more than he did at this moment.
This talent for shirking responsibility made him feel as if he were punching cotton—completely futile.
If he could actually command the Madar Palace Defense Army, he wouldn’t just be a Prince of the Tiger Race...
"General Wilson, then when do you plan to make your move?" Prince Trilman asked through clenched teeth.
’I can be patient, but there’s a limit.’
’If this keeps up, even if we manage to escape with our lives, all of my Tiger Race elites will be lost here.’
General Wilson also knew he couldn’t dodge the issue forever.
"If more human Soldiers appear, I will set out at once."
Prince Trilman took out the Crystal Ball he carried.
Such an item was a rarity in the Beastman Empire, and he had paid a great price for it.
"General, do not betray the trust His Majesty has placed in you," said Prince Trilman.
Tsk... General Wilson’s heart sank. He was beginning to seriously suspect that Prince Trilman had taken some advanced courses at the Imperial Government.
But Prince Trilman was in no mood to address his unspoken question.
"Hear my order! The Trao Division, the Scar Division, and the Frost Wolf Division will follow me to the east! The Weimada Division..." Prince Trilman rapidly issued his commands.
The general idea was to use his elite troops to defend the east and the miscellaneous soldiers to hold the west.
It was a high-risk strategy, but with such a powerful enemy, he had no other choice.
