Chapter 81: Chapter 80: Passerby on the Immortal Path

Chen Jianghe chuckled speechlessly, leaning back in his chair and watching Yu Daniu’s arrangements. Soon, a maid came to clear the table.

About half an incense stick’s time later.

Yu Daniu’s wife, Yun Huizhen, walked in with the children.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Brother Jianghe."

"Not at all. Please, have a seat," Chen Jianghe said, standing up and inviting Yun Huizhen and her younger sister, Yun Huixiang, to sit down.

"Brother Chen."

Yun Huixiang murmured softly, following behind her older sister, Yun Huizhen.

Chen Jianghe nodded with a smile, acknowledging her greeting.

"Hello, Uncle."

"Hello, children. Go on, have a seat," Chen Jianghe said with a chuckle.

Just then, Yun Huizhen pulled Yun Wuniu in front of her. "Wuniu, come and greet your uncle properly."

"Greetings, Uncle." Fifth Brother, his eyes red, gave Chen Jianghe a respectful bow before hiding behind his younger aunt, Yun Huixiang.

Apparently, Xiaoniu had told Yun Huizhen what happened in the main hall, and Fifth Brother had gotten a scolding at home.

"What’s going on?" Yu Daniu’s expression darkened when he saw this. He looked at Yun Xiaoniu. "Eldest, what happened?"

"When Uncle arrived, Dad wasn’t here. Fifth Brother and I were in the main hall. He was fooling around, and I forgot to remind him to greet Uncle." Yun Xiaoniu, though taller than Yu Daniu, glanced fearfully at his father before lowering his head and speaking in a small voice.

Looking at Yun Xiaoniu, Yu Daniu knew the story was only half-true. How could he not know his own eldest son’s personality?

He had almost certainly reminded Fifth Brother, but the boy hadn’t taken it seriously.

"You little brat! Starting today, you’re moving back home! You don’t even have the most basic manners. Are you going to rebel against heaven next? Just wait until I get my hands on you."

Yu Daniu glared at Fifth Brother, who was so frightened he clung tightly to Yun Huixiang’s back. "I want to live at Grandpa’s house!"

"You little rascal, you dare talk back..."

Chen Jianghe quickly pushed Yu Daniu back down into his seat, saying with a chuckle, "What’s all this? He’s just a child. Why are you getting so serious?"

"Hurry up and bring out the food. I gave you a great idea, so you’d better not try to skimp on the meal."

"Haha... Don’t worry, it’ll be the best food and wine," Yu Daniu said. His expression changed in an instant, and he let out a loud laugh.

Yun Huizhen chimed in, "I heard about it from Daniu. Brother Jianghe, your idea is truly wonderful. This time, Daniu’s bid to become a Steward should go much more smoothly."

"Daniu is going to be a Steward for the Yun Family?"

Chen Jianghe looked surprised, then offered his repeated congratulations. "That’s great! Becoming a Yun Family Steward is like joining the family’s upper echelons. Congratulations, Daniu!"

"Hehe..."

Yu Daniu gave a simple, honest laugh. "It’s all Huizhen’s father’s arrangement. I don’t really mind either way."

"What do you mean you don’t mind? If you become a Steward, our five children will get more Cultivation Resources," Yun Huizhen said, glaring at Yu Daniu.

"That’s right, Daniu. Your wife is right. You should listen to her on matters like this. If not for yourself, you have to think of the children."

Chen Jianghe nodded in deep agreement.

He was suddenly struck by what a good wife Yu Daniu had found. Not only did she respect and defend him at every turn, but she also always had his best interests at heart, constantly fighting for him to achieve a higher status within the family.

The other women who had married into the Yun Family all treated their husbands like beasts of burden, cursing them at the slightest disagreement and even resorting to violence.

Soon, the delicious Medicinal Cuisine and Three Yang Spirit Wine were served.

Watching Yu Daniu chug his drink, he didn’t dare do the same. After all, he didn’t have a wife at home.

Besides, his Primordial Yang was still intact, and he certainly couldn’t afford to lose it in a brothel, even if the women there were also Cultivators.

He would have to wait until after reaching Foundation Establishment, at the very least, before thinking about such trivial matters.

’It would be best if I could get my hands on some kind of Locking Essence Secret Technique.’

After several rounds of drinks and courses of food.

Yun Huizhen and her sister Yun Huixiang left first with the children, but Yu Daniu had Yun Xiaoniu stay behind.

"Ahem."

Yu Daniu cleared his throat, glanced at Yun Xiaoniu, and gave him a look.

"Uncle."

"What is it, Xiaoniu?"

"Um, I... I was wondering, what do you think of my younger aunt, Uncle?" Yun Xiaoniu stammered, his face turning beet-red.

"Daniu?" Chen Jianghe looked at Yu Daniu. He knew perfectly well that Yun Xiaoniu must have been coerced by Yu Daniu and his wife.

"Haha... Well, it’s just that we see you’re all alone, Brother Jianghe. And it just so happens my sister-in-law is also single," Yu Daniu said awkwardly.

"Daniu, I enjoy my peace and freedom. I’m destined to be accompanied only by a solitary lamp," Chen Jianghe said seriously.

’I knew it. Why else would Yu Daniu bring out the Three Yang Spirit Wine for no reason? That stuff isn’t meant for single men to drink!’

"Since you’re not interested, Brother Jianghe, let’s just forget it. I wasn’t for it in the first place, but I couldn’t argue with Huizhen’s persistence."

Yu Daniu had been a hundred percent against it when his sister-in-law came asking him to be a matchmaker again.

Back then, he had wanted to set his sister-in-law up with Chen Jianghe, but he never expected that she would look down on him.

Now she knew he was a Lower-Grade Talisman Master.

She knew he was already a Sixth-Layer Qi Refining cultivator and would definitely become a Late-Stage Qi Refining Cultivator in the future.

So she came scurrying back to ask him to play matchmaker.

’As if things could be that easy.’

But Yun Huizhen had told Yu Daniu that if things worked out between Yun Huixiang and Chen Jianghe, then Chen Jianghe might stay in Jingyue Lake forever.

Then, the two families would be on good terms, and their descendants could look after one another.

Only then did Yu Daniu agree to give it a try, but he didn’t bring it up himself, making Yun Xiaoniu do it instead.

He was too embarrassed to say it himself.

Chen Jianghe just smiled. He didn’t want to know the reasons for Yu Daniu’s dislike of his sister-in-law. He was just a passerby and wouldn’t get involved.

"Daniu, Fellow Daoist Zhou wants to lease ten acres of Spirit Fields in Lotus Town, near the Qinghe Marketplace. What do you think?"

A while ago, Zhou Miaoyun had sent a letter saying the Zhou Family was preparing to establish their clan in Lotus Town, outside the Qinghe Marketplace.

It seemed the Zhou Family had grown too large, and their income could no longer support renting a larger courtyard in the Qinghe Marketplace.

So, they were thinking of returning to their old trade—contracting Spirit Fields and becoming a Spirit Farmer Clan to slowly accumulate wealth.

"Xiaoniu, you read the letter from your Aunt Zhou. Tell your uncle and me what you think," Yu Daniu said lightly, glancing at Yun Xiaoniu.

"Yes."

Yun Xiaoniu stood up and gave a detailed analysis to the two elders. "Fellow Daoist Zhou is a Middle-Grade Talisman Master. Her father’s generation are Late-Stage Qi Refining Demon Hunters, and her brothers are only Mid-Stage Qi Refining Cultivators. The rest of the family raises silkworms and reels silk."

"Basically, sixty percent of the Zhou Family’s income comes from Fellow Daoist Zhou. The Spirit Stones she earns from creating Spirit Talismans have to subsidize the family. As the family grows, they naturally can’t afford to stay in the Qinghe Marketplace for long. Their only option is to leave."

"Lotus Town is a Cultivation Town within the territory of Qinghe Marketplace. It has several Tier One High-Grade Spiritual Veins, and its Spirit Field agriculture is abundant. This has led to very high rent for the Spirit Fields. Leasing one acre of Spirit Field for ten years costs fifty Spirit Stones."

"To speak disrespectfully, this nephew does not believe Fellow Daoist Zhou’s family has five hundred Spirit Stones."
