Chapter 140: Chapter 112: Zhou Miaoyun Visits
"Brother Chen?"
In Qingping Lane, Ruan Tieniu was walking out when he ran into Chen Jianghe head-on. He hurriedly walked over with a smile to greet him.
To him, Chen Jianghe was now a noble benefactor. If it weren’t for Chen Jianghe, he wouldn’t have been able to connect with Alchemist Zhuang at all, nor would it have been possible for his team to return from the Youxian Mountain Range with a full harvest after being out for just over two months.
The Healing Spirit Pills were a bit expensive, but they were worth it! Ruan Tieniu had done a rough calculation. Purchasing Healing Spirit Pills at a five percent discount from Alchemist Zhuang gave them the courage to venture eighty miles deep into the Youxian Mountain Range to hunt Demon Beasts. They could now afford to return just once every two months. By resting fewer days in between, they could make five round trips a year and earn an extra eight Spirit Stones. This was no small sum. It was enough to cover his rent in the Qinghe Marketplace for an entire year. As for his brothers in the team, they would earn enough for two extra years of rent.
Of course, this was mainly built upon the benefit of the five percent discount Alchemist Zhuang gave them. And Alchemist Zhuang had only done so out of respect for Chen Jianghe.
"Brother Ruan, are you heading out?" Chen Jianghe greeted him with a smile.
"Yes. Now that we have discounted Spirit Pills from Alchemist Zhuang, my brothers and I dare to venture deeper into the Youxian Mountain Range," Ruan Tieniu thanked him sincerely. "Thanks to Brother Chen’s help."
"I also have to thank Brother Ruan for your help," Chen Jianghe said, thinking of something. He asked, "I wonder, what is the value of a Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beast Flesh Body?"
"Does Brother Chen want to buy a Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beast Flesh Body? It’s not expensive. A Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beast with a Tier Two Lower-Grade Bloodline is only eight Spirit Stones."
"Can Brother Ruan get your hands on one?"
"Haha, of course I can. It’s an easy matter. It’s just that the profit margin is too low for us, so we generally don’t target Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beasts, but I can buy one from other Demon Hunting Teams."
"I see!" Chen Jianghe thought for a brief moment, then added, "Then, at the beginning of the year, when Brother Ruan helps me bring a Late-Stage Tier One Demon Beast, could you bring two more Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beasts?"
"Sure, no problem." Ruan Tieniu patted his chest confidently. "Does Brother Chen have any other matters? If not, I’ll take my leave first. My brothers are still waiting for me."
"Take care, Brother Ruan. May everything go smoothly," Chen Jianghe said, cupping his fists.
"I’m off." Ruan Tieniu nodded and walked out of Qingping Alley.
Watching the burly man leave, Chen Jianghe knew that this line of work was putting one’s life on the line. To be honest, he admired people like him. But he would never emulate them. No matter the circumstances, he would never put himself in danger.
"Brother Ruan? Hehe, he’s probably not even as old as me," Chen Jianghe smiled as he returned to his small courtyard.
Ruan Tieniu looked to be in his thirties, and his actual age was definitely no more than fifty-five, because once one reached that age, they would start to show slight signs of aging. In contrast, although Chen Jianghe looked like a young man in his twenties, he was actually a sexagenarian. Yet he was able to unabashedly call him "Brother Ruan." Chen Jianghe attributed it to his good mindset, feeling that he was still quite young at heart.
He let Little Black and Fur Ball out.
Little Black seemed very busy. Skipping their usual witty banter, he grabbed Fur Ball, pressed it into the pool, and dove to the bottom. Immediately after, Chen Jianghe saw water splashing everywhere. The thudding sounds of punches and kicks echoed, accompanied by the muffled GURGLE GURGLE of bubbles being blown underwater.
Chen Jianghe swept his Divine Sense over the pool. He saw Little Black riding on Fur Ball’s back, giving it a severe beating. He tore at Fur Ball’s snow-white fur, leaving bald patches here and there. However, Little Black didn’t strike too ruthlessly; they were all superficial wounds. Watching Little Black’s ferocious energy, Chen Jianghe didn’t call for a stop. Instead, he stood by and watched quietly. As long as Little Black didn’t deal any heavy blows, it didn’t matter.
After a severe beating that lasted a quarter of an hour, Little Black jumped out of the pool.
"Think you can rebel against me?" Little Black cast a glance at Chen Jianghe, then pointed at Fur Ball, who had followed him out and was now looking like a balding monkey.
"Hehe, it was you who let the flattery get to your head. You can’t blame Fur Ball for this," Chen Jianghe said with a chuckle.
Hearing this, Little Black whipped his head around and glared at Fur Ball, terrifying the latter into sliding to its knees right in front of him.
"Squeak, squeak!" Fur Ball chattered, conveying, *Lord Turtle is truly amazing. I meant every word!*
Fur Ball pressed its hands together and kowtowed frantically to Little Black. Its large, watery eyes stole a glance at Chen Jianghe, filled with a pleading look as it hoped he wouldn’t say anything more.
WHACK!
Little Black slammed a claw down on Fur Ball’s noggin, knocking loose another tuft of fur.
"If you dare play tricks on me again, I’ll flip your Celestial Spirit Skull Cap and make monkey brain stew for the Two-Legged Beast," Little Black said viciously.
"Hey, hey. Talk is talk, but why drag the innocent down with it?" Chen Jianghe interjected in displeasure. How did scolding Fur Ball suddenly involve him?
"Hmph! You definitely saw Fur Ball flattering me, yet you didn’t even bother to snap me out of it. Our bond has faded," Little Black snorted in dissatisfaction.
"..."
Chen Jianghe was speechless. Even this could be blamed on him. It seemed Little Black was sick from too much free time; his workload needed to be increased. He had asked Ruan Tieniu to add two Mid-Stage Tier One Demon Beasts to his next delivery specifically to let Little Black and Fur Ball practice. It was to let them familiarize themselves with the work of cleaning Demon Beasts as soon as possible. Not only would it keep them occupied, but it would also generate an additional income of Spirit Stones. It was killing two birds with one stone.
He didn’t continue bickering with Little Black, leaving them to their task of cleaning the Demon Beasts. This truly was a time-consuming and meticulous job. Draining the blood alone would take half a month. Cleaning the fur and skin while ensuring there was no damage was even more grueling. Fortunately, it was work for the two Spirit Beasts and had nothing to do with him.
Returning to his room, Chen Jianghe began drawing Spirit Talismans.
