Chapter 300: Into the Real World
It was mid-morning in the outside world. The guild blockade was still established around the alleyway where the dungeon portal had originally manifested. In fact, the security perimeter was significantly stricter and more heavily fortified than it had been when Solomon first drove his scooter through it. Dozens of extra guards and heavily armored enforcers patrolled the barricades.
The ’Six Savers’ guild had clearly decided that since they couldn’t stop the teenager from entering the dungeon, they would simply wait for him to come back out and apprehend him then.
If he just died inside the S-rank dungeon, that would have been an even better scenario for them. They could simply manipulate the public narrative, claiming they had bravely sent ’their’ own team inside to clear the threat, but tragically, none of them had returned.
’If they had actually bothered to try and clear it by sending even one dedicated raid team inside, and they had managed to find the temple and drink the giant’s elixir, they could have easily defeated the sandworm in their giant forms,’ Solomon thought to himself, analyzing their cowardly tactics.
The guild guards stationed near the barricade immediately noticed the swirling blue portal collapse and vanish, leaving two figures standing on the asphalt. They drew their batons and quickly surrounded the pair.
Solomon did not even waste a second. He immediately lashed out, kicking the nearest guard squarely in the chest. He snatched the falling man’s steel baton out of the air and ruthlessly beat the shit out of the surrounding enforcers before they could even react or draw their weapons.
For some inexplicable reason, the heavily armored guards were going down incredibly easily. A single strike from the baton was enough to knock them completely unconscious.
Even Solomon was slightly confused by his sudden, overwhelming physical dominance, but he didn’t pay much attention to it as he was in a hurry. The commotion instantly alerted the guards stationed further down the perimeter, who came rushing toward the alleyway.
"We are leaving!" Solomon grabbed the maid girl’s hand, took an exit through a narrow side street, and sprinted out of the area before the reinforcements could even see his face clearly.
After running for several blocks, they finally stopped in a quiet residential neighborhood to catch their breath.
The maid girl stood perfectly still, her dark eyes wide with absolute shock. She stared at the world around her, completely overwhelmed by the sensory overload. The only environment she had ever known for thousands of years was a desolate, empty desert and a pristine, silent temple.
This world was unimaginably different.
She stared at the green oak trees lining the sidewalks, reaching out a trembling hand to touch the rough bark and the vibrant leaves. She looked up at the glass skyscrapers glinting in the morning sun, her mouth parting slightly in awe at the impossible architecture.
A modern sports car suddenly sped down the street, its engine roaring loudly. She flinched, taking a quick step backward, her eyes tracking the strange, roaring metal beast as it passed by them.
"What... what is that?" she whispered, her usually emotionless voice finally cracking with genuine wonder.
She stared at a nearby pedestrian crossing the street while talking on a glowing smartphone. She watched an airplane leave a white contrail across the blue sky. Everything was entirely alien to her. The colors, the noises, the smells... everything, it was a staggering departure from her eternal, silent servitude.
Solomon watched her reactions, noticing the change in their appearances. They were both still wearing their desert garments. Solomon’s clothes were completely shredded, stained with dried blood from his fight with the sandstorm.
The maid girl’s clothes were in the same condition. However, there was no blood on her fabric, meaning the apocalyptic sandstorm hadn’t injured her at all.
’She might actually be significantly stronger than me when it comes to raw physical strength and durability,’ Solomon thought to himself, recalling how effortlessly she had carried him across the desert. ’She can do things even I can’t.’
He grabbed her hand again. "You can look at all of that later. Right now, we need to leave before those guild guards catch up to us."
He dragged her away down the sidewalk while she continued looking back over her shoulder, completely mesmerized by the modern city.
A short while later, they reached Solomon’s house. He unlocked the front door and stepped inside. The house was completely quiet. No one was there. His parents and Jasmine had already left for the diner.
’This is actually much better,’ Solomon thought with a sigh of relief. ’I do not have the time or the energy to explain where I found a desert maid right now.’
The maid girl wandered into the living room, her dark eyes darting across every single object. She picked up a television remote from the coffee table, turning it over in her hands.
"What is this?" she asked, pointing it at Solomon. "What does it do?"
"It controls the television," Solomon answered, pointing at the large black screen mounted on the wall. "It makes moving pictures appear."
She set it down and walked into the kitchen. She stared at the stainless steel refrigerator, pressing her hand against the cold metal door. "What is this structure?"
"It is a refrigerator. It keeps food cold so it does not spoil," Solomon explained simply.
She immediately moved to the stove, inspecting the gas burners. "How do you light the cooking fires without flint?"
Solomon answered her every query, explaining the modern appliances in the simplest terms possible. However, every single answer just prompted her to ask three more detailed questions regarding how the electricity worked, where the cold air came from, and why the water flowed magically from the metal sink faucet.
"Okay, that is enough questions for now," Solomon interrupted, holding his hands up to shut her down. "I will explain everything else to you later. But for now, I desperately need to take a bath and get changed into normal clothes."
He then looked at her shredded desert garments and her exposed skin.
