Chapter 417
Lu Xinyi chewed her lower lip. She refused to think that she could not save them. If Shen Yi really deemed them dangerous for her safety, she could roughly guess what he would do with them. Was there no way out? She couldn’t believe that there would be a day she would face such problems.
Moments later, an idea came to her mind. She just wasn’t so sure if her husband would agree on it.
“Hubby, didn’t you say I need my own bodyguards?”
“Lu Xinyi!” Shen Yi roared beside her. Lu Xinyi shrieked and stepped back while their bodyguards pretended that they didn’t hear anything.
She was forced to cover the ears although it was too late because it hurt her eardrums.
“So loud! Do you really have to yell right beside my ears?!” she complained.
“Because you are talking nonsense again! You aren’t taking this issue seriously!”
Just like other married couples, there were also arguments and misunderstandings between the two, but it was always Shen Yi who makes the first move to compromise. It was also rare for him to raise a voice towards her. However, there would be some instances that he wouldn’t be moved even if she begged him… like today.-.
The Bloody Wolves listened as the couple argued over them. Fu Rui’s jaws tightened. He hadn’t thought that Lu Xinyi wasn’t just a simple student from Silver Leaf Academy. At first, he thought that she was Li Yuren’s woman. That man had unexpectedly helped them escape from the other mercenary group when Li Yuren annihilated it after Lu Xinyi had left with President Shen.
Fu Rui thought that Li Yuren was the most dangerous man in the capital. His beliefs crushed like a sandcastle when he found out about Shen Yi. This man, who managed to suppress the local vigilantes that terrorized some parts of the capital, had single-handedly destroyed them in just one night.
That particular event that took place at Saffron Boulevard had earned Shen Yi his nickname, The Demon King. During that time, Shen Yi had just taken over the Shen Group and was building his business empire. One particular mob boss terrorized the newly-constructed mall of the Shen Group which was managed by Shen Xue.
Shen Xue was kidnapped and held hostage by the mob. This led to Shen Yi’s wrath, and he utilized his newly-formed elite guards to destroy the whole Saffron Boulevard and kill anyone who dared to harm Shen Xue. Each punch and kick that Shen Xue received was repaid by breaking each finger and toe of the mob.
The people assumed that it pertained to how he deals with his business transactions, but the number of lives that were lost during that night was the real reason. Shen Yi was able to kill people, especially if a family member was involved.
Thinking about it, Fu Rui broke into a cold sweat. If Shen Yi was able to annihilate a mob and destroy Saffron Boulevard—which was once a popular business center in the capital, what else could he do if his wife was involved?
Fu Rui glanced at his older brother, his eyes inquiring what to do. Fu Shuren shook his head and smiled bitterly. They were strong alright, but Shen Yi’s top elite guards had proven to them how weak they were compared to Shen Yi’s people.
Fu Shuren knew that their lives were in Lu Xinyi’s hand. Within their group, the Fu siblings were the only ones who can compete and fight head-on against one top elite guard from the Shen family, but as a group, Shen Yi’s men could dispose of them easily.
Had they known that Shen Yi was able to trace them so fast once they reached the capital, they shouldn’t have come to find Lu Xinyi.
“But you did say I need a bodyguard. Now that I’m asking, you are objecting to it?” Lu Xinyi crossed her arms on her chest while her forehead creased.
“I DID say you need a bodyguard,”—Shen Yi emphasized the second word—”but this is a different matter. You don’t even know who they are or where they came from.”
“But you do know.” Lu Xinyi pointed it out. Shen Yi bit his inner cheek. He could not deny that point.
“I do, but still… do you even know if they’re capable or not? You don’t even ask if they agree to be your bodyguards,” he countered.
Ah, this wife of his was really a stubborn one! It was just too bad that he loved her so much that he cared about her safety.
“Uh…” Realizing that her husband found a loophole on her reasoning, Lu Xinyi turned her attention to the Bloody Wolves.
“What can you do? What are your individual specialties?” she inquired. If she had to take some bodyguards, they should be capable to protect her at all costs, right?
“Undercover and hand-to-hand combat. I’m also proficient in Jujitsu,” Fu Shuren remarked.
“All-rounder,” Fu Rui said.
“Long-range shooting,” Zhang Qing confessed.
“Poison and stealth,” Jiao Jiao followed the lead of her group mates.
The young boy blinked and stared at Lu Xinyi’s face. This was the first time Zhang Sheng saw his benefactor. He couldn’t help but be star-struck seeing her that he couldn’t utter a single word.
“He’s our hacker,” Jiao Jiao said. “He never killed anyone before. He only knows how to operate computers and machines once he read a manual.”
“See? I told you they are capable to be my bodyguards. You can’t just dispose of them like that. Now that they stepped inside your den, their only choices are ‘join the club’ or ‘be gone for good’,” Lu Xinyi said smugly.
Now that she knew that these mercenaries weren’t that simple, how could she waste these talents they had? So even if the Sun family sent someone to kill her, they would need to beat these people first.
Lu Xinyi was very satisfied with her chosen people. If it were Shen Yi’s men, she would never have their absolute loyalty. Having her own people that she trusted meant she wouldn’t have to worry if someone dared to stab her back.
Shen Yi found himself in a conundrum. His wife had decided to take the Bloody Wolves as her personal bodyguards. He had no problem with her having her own people, but he didn’t trust these people at all. They just sprouted out of nowhere and claimed that Lu Xinyi was their benefactor. Even if it was true, how sure that they wouldn’t betray Lu Xinyi?
“I refuse to accept them as your bodyguard unless they prove themselves,” he finally said something.
Lu Xinyi grinned, knowing that her husband was finally willing to compromise with her.
“Prove that they are loyal or capable?” she asked.
“Both. If they can’t beat the lowest tier of Shen’s elite guards, they better be dead. Why don’t we test if they can do a simple job first?” he suggested.
Lu Xinyi cupped her chin and think for a moment. She already had something in her mind but wasn’t sure if the Bloody Wolves can do it without a problem.
“Something in your mind?” Shen Yi was eager to solve this dilemma.
“Yes. Actually, I want them to locate two people for me. As insurance that they would come back and wouldn’t betray me and the Shen family, why don’t we take the Zhang siblings as hostages while the other three proceed to do their mission?”
Shen Yi’s brows drew together. “You want them to find Zheng Yue’s mother?”
“No,” Lu Xinyi chuckled, “Our dear Qiao He is the best man to do that job.”
Qiao He beamed a smile when he heard their Young Madam’s praise. Shen Yi’s brow rose, thinking that his assistant had that dog smile plastered on his face again. He could even imagine his assistant’s imaginary tail wagging on his wife’s praise.
“Then, what mission do you want them to do?”
