Chapter 380
Monday came fast, Lu Xinyi went back to Silver Leaf Academy. Just as she expected—the moment she stepped inside the campus, she noticed some students stopped what they were doing, gave her weird looks, and started whispering to each other.
It was like the first day of her class. Everyone was giving her a dirty look as if she’d done some shameful things.
When she arrived in the hallway outside their classroom, the student distanced themselves and kept glancing her way. Lu Xinyi kept her chin up, refusing to get intimidated by them.
“She still has the face to show herself here? Aiya, someone doesn’t have a conscience at all,” one commented loudly, earning a gasp from other students.
“Heh, how can you say that, sis? Aren’t you afraid that she’ll go running back to President Shen and complain that we’re bullying her?” her friend added, throwing a nasty look at Lu Xinyi.
Lu Xinyi stopped in her tracks and revealed a vicious smile to both women.
“W-what do you want?” The first woman who dared to insult Lu Xinyi stepped back in fear. Lu Xinyi hadn’t said a single word, and yet she could feel her whole body trembling from fear.
What kind of bullshit was this?! Lu Xinyi was so scary that her instinct was screaming for her to run for her life!
“Eh? You were talking behind my back earlier, and when I try to confront you, your arrogance went away?” Lu Xinyi’s facial expression was one of absolute disdain. She abhorred this kind of people. To her, they were less than the mud on her over-shined shoes.-.
“What talking behind your back? We’re just talking about what they said was true!” the woman retorted, but her fear increased to another level when Lu Xinyi’s devilish smile widened. Her friend was pulling her arm, whispering for her to stop.
“But… you are spouting rumors loudly without evidence? Would you take responsibility for it if people believe your nonsense? Don’t you know gossip is poisonous, malicious, and destructive—to say the least!” Lu Xinyi countered.
“How am I spouting nonsense? Don’t you also know that ‘where there is smoke, there is fire’? You probably did something bad that your misdeeds were starting to be revealed.”
To say that the other woman was scared was an understatement. She badly wished that Lu Xinyi would let her off and leave her alone. Too bad that today, Lu Xinyi was feeling petty to play with some idiots like her. Had she known Lu Xinyi’s temperament, she wouldn’t have dared to provoke her.
Lu Xinyi crossed her arms and shook her head.
“Gossip is sometimes referred to as the halitosis of the mind. It must be that your mind is full of shit that it couldn’t stop your mouth from talking shit.”
The other students watching them gaped at how bold and arrogant Lu Xinyi was. There wasn’t one bit of weakness that could be seen on her.
“It’s funny, the people that know the least about me have the most to say.” Lu Xinyi continued in a louder voice, letting everyone hear her, “But I’m telling you now. The things you hear about me might be true, but then again, it might be as fake as the bitch who said it.”
The moment Lu Xinyi said those words, a familiar feminine voice yelled her name. Turning around to see it was, she wasn’t surprised at all to see Wen Shufen striding towards her with her crimson face.
“Lu Xinyi! Don’t you have any remaining sense of shame at all? Bullying students just because they were talking about you?” Wen Shufen accused her, jabbing a finger toward Lu Xinyi.
“Oh, look who’s here. The bitch herself showed up.” Lu Xinyi chuckled, her eyes inspecting her nails in boredom.
Wen Shufen almost spat three liters of blood upon hearing Lu Xinyi’s arrogance. She didn’t even beat around the bush and accused her of being the one who spread the rumors.
“What did you say?!” Wen Shufen had an ugly expression on her face. No one had dared to humiliate her like this except Lu Xinyi.
“Heh! Do I really have to repeat what I said, Miss Wen? Are you deaf, or aren’t you willing to admit what you’ve done?” Lu Xinyi mocked her.
Wen Shufen wanted to cry as rage filled her belly. She felt her ears getting hot from Lu Xinyi’s words. She glared at her and then spat out, “How dare you, Lu Xinyi? Why are you accusing me of spreading rumors about you? Do you have any proof?!”
Lu Xinyi sneered at her and then laughed only adding fuel to her wrath.
“You think this is funny?” Wen Shufen snapped back. She couldn’t understand how easily for Lu Xinyi to crush her like this so easily. A few words from her were enough to make her blood boil in anger.
Lu Xinyi glared back at her with equal hatred in her cruel, dull eyes.
“You are an extremely stupid girl. Aren’t you? Ignorance can be educated, crazy can be medicated, but there is no cure for stupid,” she said seriously that sent alarms to Wen Shufen’s brain. Something was amiss with Lu Xinyi’s words. It was threatening and overwhelming, enough to suffocate her logic thoughts.
“Proof?” Lu Xinyi continued, “When you started spreading rumors about me, have you considered finding a proof to back up your claims? Four horses cannot overtake the tongue. Once rumors had been spread, it couldn’t be taken back so easily.”
Wen Shufen couldn’t retort anything back to her. She was anxious and flustered at the same time.
Lu Xinyi stepped forward to shorten the distance between her and Wen Shufen. When she thought it was enough, she whispered in a low voice enough to allow only Wen Shufen to hear what she wanted to say.
“Spreading rumors about me? Well, that’s good.” She nodded her head as if realizing something. “I mean, at least you learned to spread something other than your legs to married men.”
Wen Shufen’s face instantly blanched upon hearing those words. How did Lu Xinyi find out about her secrets? She’d tried her best not to let anyone know it. Who would have known that her secrets ended up at the hands of this devil?
She glared at Lu Xinyi and tightened her hands so much that her fingernails bit into her palms.
“Impudent! Don’t accuse me of something I haven’t done, Lu Xinyi! Stop making things about me!”
“Eh? Meeting a secretary of the state at Cosmos Hotel every Friday and weekend isn’t true?” Lu Xinyi pondered loudly. Words flew from her mouth that she never thought she’d even think, let alone say out loud carelessly. She knew instantly from the look in Wen Shufen’s eyes that they’d hit their mark.
She complimented Qiao He’s detective skills in her mind. Just like what she’d expected, the Shen family’s intelligence network wouldn’t disappoint her at all. Qiao He easily dug out Wen Shufen’s background and found her dirty secrets.
Lu Xinyi had suspected from the start that Wen Shufen had someone backing her up aside from Han Yixin. Han Yixin wasn’t the one paying for her school expenses. Considering the amount they had to pay, a student from a humble middle-class family like Wen Shufen shouldn’t be able to afford it unless someone took her as a sponsored student.
Ah, in the end, the one who’s accusing her of seducing men was the culprit herself. Wen Shufen was the one who was having an affair with a married man.
Wen Shufen almost pounced on her to cover her mouth to stop her from revealing her secrets to the public, but she couldn’t. The color of her face drained as she realized she was doomed. How much Lu Xinyi knew about her?
She was starting to regret offending this woman at that moment.
“I wonder if Mrs. Secretary knew about your affair.” Lu Xinyi’s voice was filled with mockery. “I heard that she was a ruthless wife. Once she found out who the recent mistress of her husband is, she goes after them…”
Wen Shufen was frozen on the spot. Of course, she heard about them. Why else would she tries her best to hide the affair?! She was really afraid to be found by his legal wife.
Lu Xinyi took the remaining steps and lightly patted Wen Shufen’s face as if she was concerned about her safety.
“Stupid people always think they are right. Wise people listen to advice. So, Miss Wen, I’ll give you a piece of useful advice. Don’t go around offending people that you shouldn’t. Not every battle is worth fighting for. Pick your battles smartly unless—of course—you wanted to shorten your lifespan…” she whispered to Wen Shufen’s ear, her eyes were glowing with mischief.
It wasn’t advice at all but clearly a threat from her.
Lu Xinyi turned around and left the crowd, deciding to continue walking towards her destination before she gets late.
“Nobody deserves misery, but sometimes, it’s just your turn,” was her parting words for Wen Shufen.
When she arrived at their classroom, Tang Lilou met her at the doorway.
“Xin Jiejie, are you alright? I heard what happened. I was about to check on you. Do you want me to teach Wen Shufen a lesson? She clearly went overboard this time.”
Lu Xinyi smiled back and patted her head.
“There’s no need for that, Lou Lou. No need for revenge. Just sit back and wait. Those who dare to hurt me will eventually screw up themselves, and if we’re lucky, God will let us watch.”
