Little Miss Devil: The President's Mischievous Wife

Chapter 180

Honestly, if his wife didn’t call, Shen Yi would have called Qiao He to track Lu Xinyi’s whereabouts. He wouldn’t lie about that because he knew she was trapped in some kind of trouble again when she didn’t come home with the twins. As to why would Lu Xinyi always end up caught in a web of troubles—Shen Yi had no idea.

However, he remained not to do anything reckless. If he was correct that Lu Xinyi was in trouble, it wouldn’t be good to be careless. One of them should be clear-headed to see the problem on hand.

There was a slight drizzle outside. Shen Yi pulled on his jacket, grabbed his keys, and left the twins with Madam Jin. It was all because she was his wife that he allowed himself to drag his ass out from his place and pick her up from wherever hellhole she was trapped in. It was because she was his Lu Xinyi that he was now driving through the rain towards the train station which was several blocks away from their exclusive subdivision.

Shen Yi didn’t know what to feel though when he parked his car and found his wife standing at the pedestal with a defeated look on her face. She looked like a kitten abandoned by her owner. Poor Lu Xinyi. Someone must have wronged his wife!-.

Lu Xinyi looked heavenward and released a deep breath. The rain had been falling hard, and Shen Yi was still out of sight. He promised to be there in fifteen minutes, but Lu Xinyi knew it would be impossible for him to arrive on time with this kind of weather. Then again, a small smile bloomed on her face when she saw Shen Yi’s car arriving from the other side of the road.

Shen Yi stayed at the driver’s seat and waited for his wife to get in. He was sorely tempted to pull her and ask her what was wrong with her, but he refrained from doing so. He just waited patiently for Lu Xinyi to tell him what was happening.

“Xinyi,” he greeted his wife and noticed that her hair was wet. She merely stared at her hands and refused to look at him.

“Thank you,” she whispered as he turned on the engine of his car and started driving back to their home. The atmosphere within the car was depressing, with Lu Xinyi sulking at the passenger seat and refusing to talk to her husband.

“You wish to tell me what’s going on, Xinyi?”

“Gong Yijun,” Lu Xinyi replied and looked out her window. “He assaulted me. He was blaming us for the misfortune he was having right now.”

When Shen Yi heard those words, he instinctively stepped on the brakes too hard and stopped his car at the side of the road. With the loud screeching sound it made, Lu Xinyi guessed that it had left a mark on the road.

“Shen Yi! What the hell!” Lu Xinyi gripped the side of the door hard. Her heartbeat surged at the fastest rate as she looked wide-eyed to her husband. She was deeply thankful that she had a seatbelt on, or else she would have been thrown forward.

“Did he hurt you?” Shen Yi was furious. If it was possible, his eyes would see red in anger. The rat had managed to hurt his wife again. Hadn’t he learned his lesson from the last time? If breaking his arm wasn’t enough for Gong Yijun, Shen Yi wouldn’t mind breaking his limbs permanently.

“I-I’m okay,” she replied but winced when Shen Yi touched the arm that was hurt by her ex-boyfriend. Shen Yi released her arm like he was burnt when he saw the expression in her face.

Shen Yi grabbed her chin so she would look at him. He stared at those wet, large round brown eyes—eyes that he would never get tired to look at.

“I’m tired, Shen Yi. Why is everyone trying to blame me for their choices? Why do I always get the shorter end of the stick? Don’t I deserve to be happy?”

“Xinyi, there will be hard days; but they won’t last.” He tucked a stray lock behind her ear and wiped away the tears she didn’t know were falling.

“Why are you so good to me? How could you be so strong when I’m not?” Lu Xinyi choked a sob. Before meeting Shen Yi, she always felt that there was something missing in her life—that even being surrounded by her friends, there was something within her heart that wasn’t in peace.

Instead of answering her questions, Shen Yi pressed his lips against hers hard and firm. It took a lot of restraint from him to stop and break away. He was addicted to her.

“Shen Yi?” She breathed out his name. His gaze raked over his wife who had a slight blush creeping up in her cheeks.

“We all break our rules for someone. Do you know what it means? We are giving the person an opportunity to hurt us, and when they do, we become cold to avoid getting hurt again.”
