Chapter 2559: Chapter 2568: Taking Care of Someone Drunk
"Olivia Lewis, cut it out, I’m not buying it, hurry and come over."
"Hello, hello, Sister Sunny? Strange, there’s really no sound." After saying that, she decisively hung up the phone, then quickly switched her phone to flight mode and let out a sigh of relief.
Emma, when Sunny comes over tomorrow, she’s definitely done for.
But there’s no choice, she can’t just leave August Oliver at home unattended.
If it were another guy, she’d have kicked him out long ago, regardless of whether he was drunk. But August... she always felt a sense of indebtedness; she owed him so much before, she really couldn’t ignore him in his hour of need.
After putting the phone back in her pocket, Olivia returned to the living room. She reached out to feel the forehead of the man curled up on the sofa with his eyes closed, wanting to check if he had a fever.
But as soon as her hand touched him, her wrist was grabbed, and she was unexpectedly pulled into the man’s embrace, tightly held.
"August?"
Olivia had never felt so awkward; she called to him with no response. She was just about to push him away.
Then she felt his head rest on her shoulder, followed by a soft mutter drifting into her ear, "Mom..."
Her action paused.
The person holding her seemed trapped in a nightmare, tightly embracing her, his head buried in her neck, murmuring miserably, "Mom, don’t go..."
"Mom, don’t leave me."
"Mom..."
"Mom, I will protect you. Wait for me to grow up, wait for me."
"I will defeat the bad guys, protect you."
"Mom, don’t..."
This childlike murmur weighed heavily on the heart. Although Olivia didn’t know what he was dreaming about, hearing his painful mutterings, she knew the dream must be terrifying.
She reached out her hand, gently patting his back, softly comforting the man in the grip of a painful spasm, "It’s alright, it’s all over. It’s okay, it’s already over. Won’t leave, won’t leave you..."
She treated August a bit like her younger brother, soothing him. After all, August was younger than her, and she didn’t find her childlike comforting tone strange.
Whether her comforting worked or something else, August’s spasming body gradually relaxed, his murmuring also slowly quieted down, seemingly about to fall asleep.
Half-standing, half-bent over with her neck held, this position really tested her waist strength. After just half an hour, she felt like her old waist was going to break, not daring to stop, she could only continue the repetitive gentle patting, soothing the man in his nightmare, quietly hissing in pain.
Another ten minutes passed before August gradually loosened his grip on her neck.
As soon as Olivia regained her freedom, she stood up straight, vigorously pounded her waist, "Emma, luckily he let go. If not, my old waist would have snapped in two."
After a few hits, her waist finally felt a bit better, Olivia curiously eyed the drunken man on the sofa, furrowing her brows, "What happened to August’s mom? Where has he been running off to for the past three months, and how did he become a director of the Oscar Group... it feels like there’s a secret in all this."
After murmuring to herself, she waved her hand, relaxing, "Never mind, even if there’s a secret, it’s someone else’s privacy, why should I gossip about it. The problem is, what should I do now?"
