Chapter 2522 - 2531: Wore a Fake Dress
Chapter 2522: Chapter 2531: Wore a Fake Dress
Wendy Hanson nodded vaguely, but in reality, her eyes continuously looked towards the entrance.
The two people at the door were held outside for a long time, only being let in after the staff had finished checking their invitations.
They wore lavish clothes, yet seemed out of place among the guests in the room.
It wasn’t the clothing that was different, but the demeanor.
Compared to the natural ease of others, the two newcomers appeared timid and apprehensive, like country women suddenly thrust into a big city, radiating a sense of bewilderment, as if they didn’t know where to place their hands and feet.
Wendy Hanson saw the two had finally arrived and had a flicker in her eyes.
The young girl who had been pestering her noticed her gaze and followed it, frowning in disdain. "Who are those two? They look like they snuck in."
"I don’t know either." Wendy Hanson said, but her eyes never left the two people, clearly indicating recognition.
The young girl furrowed her brow and suddenly exclaimed softly, "Oh my God, what is that woman wearing? That dress... isn’t it in my house? How could she be wearing the same style as the birthday gift I bought for my Mom? Could it be an A-quality?"
The mention of "A-quality" immediately drew the attention of the group of socialites around them.
"Where’s there an A-quality?"
"No way, who wears A-quality at such an event? Are they crazy?"
"Kimi, are you sure you’re not mistaken? What’s the occasion tonight, who would be insane enough to wear A-quality? Aren’t they afraid of becoming a laughing stock?"
The young girl, indignant at being questioned, blushed in anger and defended herself loudly, "How could I be mistaken? That starlit dress was designed as a limited edition by the designer; there’s only one worldwide. I spent one hundred thousand last month buying it for my Mom, and she hasn’t even worn it yet; it’s still hanging in my closet! The original is only in my home, so what she’s wearing has to be A-quality!"
Her voice was loud in her agitation, catching the attention of those around. They all turned to look at the direction she pointed.
The woman in the A-quality evening gown felt panic as so many eyes turned towards her, shrinking back like she was frightened, awkwardly rubbing her hands together and bowing her head, looking as if she wanted to flee.
The man beside her was no better, his face pale with fear, lowering his head in trepidation.
Their behavior was thoroughly disgraceful.
People nearby were initially curious, but seeing their reaction, they began talking amongst themselves, "Oh my God, where did those two come from?"
"I haven’t seen them before. Have you? Doesn’t the Lawrence Family require invitations to get in? How did they come in? Could they have snuck in?"
"I don’t know; I haven’t seen them either. But they probably didn’t sneak in; the Lawrence Family banquet isn’t so easy to crash. I just heard someone next to me saying the dress the woman is wearing is A-quality and looked out of curiosity."
"Did you hear? That person is wearing A-quality. Oh my god, how embarrassing—wearing A-quality at this kind of event is just asking for trouble. If I were her, I’d rather not come than wear A-quality to the banquet."
The whispers grew louder, and the looks directed at them seemed like X-rays, as if trying to strip away their clothing.
