Chapter 2468 - 2477: She Won’t Eat You, But She’ll Eat Me
Chapter 2468: Chapter 2477: She Won’t Eat You, But She’ll Eat Me
Adam Sinclair’s brain was aching from anger, so much so that he laughed out of frustration, "If I get really mad, I might just bite you, one bite won’t be enough, I’ll swallow you one mouthful at a time!"
And shamelessly, he added a location, "In bed!"
Holy crap!
Olivia Lewis is a pretty thick-skinned person, at least thicker-skinned than Enna Clark. When she was a small star, she often hung out with the field service and lighting crew at the set, making dirty jokes.
Whatever the guys could say, she could say too, her banter was smoother than the guys. But she’s just smooth with words and has principles. It’s not that directors didn’t fancy her before, hinting openly or subtly to help her advance in the entertainment industry. She gently refused them all and mingled for years before she caught Adam Sinclair’s eye, and he wouldn’t let go.
Olivia looked like she wanted to banter back but was held back by the fact that they were in a public setting, so she couldn’t respond as freely.
Adam was eager to see her get flustered, hoping to enjoy it a bit more, but knowing her character, he realized he couldn’t push her too far.
Regrettably, he withdrew his direct gaze and, serious for a moment, said, "My mom doesn’t like the ladylike type; she appreciates independent, self-reliant, and somewhat individualistic girls. Next time you meet her, I’ll tell you how to interact with her. She’s actually easy to get along with; it’s just that she had some setbacks when she was young, so she’s more sharp in her perspectives."
Olivia didn’t respond, her lips pressed together, lost in thought.
Adam knew her too well; her thoughtful demeanor, with eyes gradually darkening, became much sharper.
Neither spoke, yet the atmosphere grew heavy.
Luckily, at that moment, the waiter came over, holding the menu and bending down to hand it over.
"Sir, what would you like to drink?"
The tense atmosphere was instantly broken.
Adam’s lips pressed tightly as he took the menu from the oblivious waiter, opened it without looking, and said, "Blue Mountain, no sugar."
"Okay."
The waiter, even slow in reaction, could tell he came at the wrong time, quickly took the menu and left.
With the waiter’s interruption, Adam’s emotions slightly stabilized; he took a deep breath, calmed down, and focused intently on Olivia, briefly touching his lips, "I know what you’re thinking. Whatever my mom said to you doesn’t matter. I’m the man; these are my concerns! I’ll talk to my mom, don’t you dare think about breaking up with me!"
"I never said I wanted to break up with you." Olivia hadn’t expected him to read her mind, stubbornly denying it.
Adam glared at her, in a huff, "You didn’t say it, but it’s written all over your face!"
Even more infuriating than actually saying it.
"Did my mom talk to you about my family?" Initially, he thought his mom just wanted to chat with Olivia, but now he realized he shouldn’t let them talk, as it would cause trouble.
"It’s my fault; I didn’t arrive in time. I should’ve had someone accompany you to avoid any issues."
Olivia couldn’t help but interject here, "I was going to meet your mom, not some mob boss; do you really need a bodyguard? Your mom won’t eat me."
Previously, she heard so much from Sydney Sullivan, now her impression of Sydney Sullivan had improved a lot, so she was defending Sydney Sullivan.
Adam was resigned, "She won’t eat you, but she’ll eat me."
