Chapter 2272: Chapter 2281: Warning
On the other side, he turned his head and instructed Assistant Terrence, "Make me a cup of coffee and bring it to the office!"
"Okay, President."
Assistant Terrence suddenly felt a sense of relief and hurried to make the coffee.
After arranging everything, Baron Lawrence left the people following him behind, stretched his long legs, and pushed open the door to the office.
The President’s office located on the 88th floor of the Lawrence Headquarters was spacious and bright, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows offering a 360° view of the entire city, both magnificent and luxurious, making one hold their breath.
The person sitting on the sofa had been anxiously waiting for nearly an hour. Just when she was about to give up, the person she was waiting for finally arrived.
The smoothly tailored suit fit the man exceptionally well, as if it were custom-made for him, exuding an air of nobility.
Miranda Lewis couldn’t hide her delight and immediately stood up from the sofa, calling out with a voice full of twists and turns, "President Lawrence. You’re here, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."
Baron Lawrence paused his gaze when he saw her, especially when his eyes landed on her face; his hawk-like eyes narrowed, lingering on her face for a few more seconds.
Only then did he walk over to the desk, put down the schedule documents the secretary had previously handed him, turned around, and glanced at the woman with hidden anticipation. A trace of disgust flashed through his eyes as he said, "What did you do yesterday?"
Miranda’s heart skipped a beat, feeling a bit guilty. She thought Enna Clark might have complained, but she wasn’t sure if Enna did or not. She stammered, "Nothing, I didn’t do anything."
Baron Lawrence threw all the newspapers on the desk in front of her, leaning against the desk with a blank expression, his brows full of impatience, "Nothing, and you get thrown out?"
"I..." Miranda was almost sure Enna Clark hadn’t complained. She calmed down a bit and casually lied, "A female star I had offended before wanted to get back at me, so I was thrown out."
"Is that so?"
Miranda didn’t know if he believed her or not, but since she already lied, she had no choice but to nod bravely, "Really, President Lawrence, I wouldn’t dare to lie to you."
"Enna Clark also went to the party yesterday..." His tone was ambiguous, as if he was just casually saying it.
Miranda felt the temperature around her drop all of a sudden. She panicked and quickly waved her hands to deny it, "Enna didn’t see me; I didn’t run into her. I was kicked out before the party even started..."
Enna Clark didn’t see her?
All of Baron Lawrence’s attention yesterday was focused on the fact that he couldn’t reach Enna Clark by phone; he hadn’t checked what actually happened at the party.
His hawk-like eyes narrowed slightly, and his sharp gaze seemed to read whether the woman in front of him was lying.
Miranda didn’t know where to put her nervous hands and feet, holding her breath, trying to appear as calm as possible.
Baron Lawrence’s gaze lingered on her for a moment and then retracted, coldly stating, "You better remember this! Don’t let Enna Clark see you, and don’t say anything reckless in front of Enna. If I find out, I’ll make you regret being born into this world!"
I’ll make you regret being born into this world!
Miranda’s heart trembled sharply, and whatever smug confidence she had was shattered by this blunt warning. Remembering what Enna Clark had said to her last night, she felt as if she’d been slapped hard in the face, utterly humiliated.
