Chapter 2264: Chapter 2273: Refusing to Talk to Her
"No, it’s not what you think. We just had a little disagreement, that’s all. Alright, Bobby, it’s getting late, you should get ready for bed now. Tomorrow is your first day at school, don’t be late," Enna Clark interrupted his guessing, not giving him a chance to ask further, and ushered him off the couch, "Have you brushed your teeth? What about the milk? Did you drink it?"
Bobby coolly tossed his head, "I took a bath and brushed my teeth ages ago, and drank the milk too. I was just waiting for you to come back."
His obsidian-like eyes glanced at Enna Clark sideways, casually jumped off the couch, put on his ’big man’ style slippers, and said lazily, "I’m not interested in your business with the Dubious Man next door. If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine. Just make sure you handle it yourself."
He believed his woman could handle it, and if she couldn’t, he could always help later.
He wouldn’t interfere now.
He didn’t know anything, what if he only made things worse?
Bobby had already made up his mind, crossing his arms behind his head, yawning lazily, "I’m going to bed. Goodnight, woman."
"Goodnight."
Enna Clark watched him go into the bedroom and close the door, letting out a sigh of relief.
The living room was empty, she stood for several seconds, thought about it, then made a cup of honey water and headed towards the study...
"Knock knock." The study door was closed.
Enna Clark knocked twice, then turned the door handle.
Creaaak——
The door opened.
Inside was bright as day.
The man she thought was working seriously wasn’t working; instead, he was leaning back in a leather swivel chair, with his eyes closed.
Perhaps she disturbed him, and the man ’resting’ in the swivel chair suddenly opened his eyes——
His dark eyes reflected her image.
The next second, the hand placed on the desk clenched into a fist.
But quickly, he released it again.
In the blink of an eye, he returned from rising tension to tranquility.
"I made you a cup of honey water," Enna Clark said softly, with a smile.
The man sitting in the chair opened a laptop, expressionlessly said, "Just leave it there."
Enna Clark put the cup on his desk, watching his attention settle on the laptop, as if he was too busy to acknowledge her.
She hesitated for a moment while standing there, but decided to break the silence, "Baron Lawrence, tonight I..."
"I have a meeting tonight, might be quite late before I sleep. You go to bed first, no need to wait for me," the man engrossed in his work interrupted her without lifting his eyelids, clearly not wanting to have a conversation.
Enna Clark opened her mouth in resignation, paused, then compromised, "Then I won’t disturb you, you carry on, I’ll wait up for you."
The man working finally raised his head, his handsome face extremely calm, but no matter how you looked at it, he seemed like a volcano striving to avert eruption, "No need to wait for me. I’ll be late. Just sleep!"
This was not his usual self at all.
Enna Clark felt a weight pressing on her chest, her bright eyes meeting his gaze, steadfastly said, "I know you’ll be late. I’ll wait for you."
After speaking, she didn’t offer Baron Lawrence another chance to refuse, quickly saying, "You carry on with your work. I won’t disturb you anymore. I’m heading out. That cup of honey water is freshly made, just the right temperature, don’t let it go cold."
Enna Clark didn’t care whether he listened or not, she said what she wanted to say and left.
