Chapter 2261: Chapter 2270: Baron Lawrence Is Here Too!
In the car.
Enna Clark hesitated for a moment, taking out her phone, wondering whether to call Baron Lawrence first.
But after thinking about it, she still didn’t dial.
She had already promised Lyle Westbrook’s bodyguard not to mention Lyle’s injury. One must keep their word. A promise is a promise.
If she doesn’t talk about Lyle’s situation, what if she calls back and Baron asks where she is and what she’s doing? How would she explain?
Enna’s temples throbbed twice.
Lyle’s injury happened so suddenly; she never imagined the Westbrook Family’s conflict had escalated so intensely.
She was purely acting as a friend, plus Lyle had helped her so many times before, that she rushed over.
Now, she felt she might have done something to betray Baron, like being caught cheating red-handed.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the villa.
Enna got out of the car.
The Habsden Family servant was already waiting outside. As soon as the car stopped, they immediately opened the door for her. "First Young Lady, you’re back."
"Hmm. Where’s Little Uncle?"
"The Master is inside."
Enna walked towards the villa.
As soon as she stepped into the living room, she immediately saw two men playing chess on the sofa.
The one on the left was Edward Jackson.
The one on the right was—Baron Lawrence!
Enna’s heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat. That strange feeling of being caught cheating even though she did nothing wrong sprang up again.
Edward looked calm. Seeing her return, he smiled gently and set down the chess piece in his hand. "Enna, you’re back?"
"Hmm." Enna sneaked a glance at the other person.
Baron appeared very calm, without any special expression. Unlike his usual self, so composed that it didn’t seem like he’d made over ten calls that she didn’t answer, or that he’d come to find her.
Something unusual must be ominous!
If he weren’t acting so out of the ordinary, Enna wouldn’t be so on edge, but his abnormal calmness made her suspicious.
"No more." Edward gracefully tossed the Go pieces into the box, gently instructing the servant beside him, "Go prepare dinner."
"Yes, Master."
The servant promptly went to prepare.
Edward stood up first, wiping his hands with a towel, saying, "It’s already very late. You two should have dinner here before heading back. Anyway, I’m alone, and dinner would be livelier with more people."
"Hmm, okay." Enna mainly wanted to know how much Baron was aware of, and what it all meant now, so she could only reply dryly.
Hayes helped her pull out the chair at the dining table, and Enna sat down uneasily.
It was unclear whether it was a coincidence or not.
Baron happened to be sitting directly opposite her.
She could see him as soon as she looked up.
Just as Enna looked at him, the always noble and stern man also looked over. Their gazes collided in mid-air.
Enna’s breath paused for a moment.
She felt as if there was magma stirring beneath his calm obsidian eyes. But when she tried to confirm by looking again, the proud man had already looked away.
By only glancing at his tall, defined face, it was impossible to discern his emotions.
He looked exactly the same as usual! It was this very sameness that made Enna increasingly feel something was amiss!
Throughout the dining process, Baron and Edward were discussing business affairs.
