Chapter 163: Tyler Being Reckless [Birthday Bonus Chapter]
Adam was cursing in his dorm room about why Tyler would be so reckless. None of it made sense to him. How did his staff get absorbed by that woman so easily? Tyler was clearly relying on that power to send a shockwave to blast a bunch of the bots, and it was easily thwarted. Why the hell wasn’t he having his wives come to help?
Tyler understood Adam would be upset, which was why he had teleported him to his dorm room.
’I’m going to have to explain that one later,’ Tyler thought before staring at the pink-haired General.
"Aw, come back because you missed me?" she taunted.
"Nope, I came for the intel, and you gave me a ton. So many different-colored bots. So you sent scouting bots; that didn’t work... then you sent upgraded bots; that didn’t work. But you, you aren’t a bot at all. You’re a humanoid who has probably lived a very long life?" Tyler grinned.
"Aw, choir boy understands how immortality works—"
"That’s not how immortality works. Stealing other people’s life force and power isn’t immortality. It’s an absolutely disgusting thing to do. Being immortal means you’d die for the people you love even though you know you can’t just die. Stop being a coward and fight me one-on-one," Tyler screamed in anger.
"I would love to, but I’m just following orders, sweetheart. Gotta go!"
"Gaia, grab her."
Gaia snuck through the Vexarran terrain, grabbed hold of the General’s legs, and wouldn’t let go.
"Unhand me, you ugly bitch."
"Alexandria, now!"
The mighty ice dragon came roaring out and started shooting a mix of precision fire and ice attacks at the bots. They started shooting back at her. Some of their shots landed; one of them caused her to howl in pain.
’Shit.’
"Don’t you dare recall me. I’m fine," Alexandria snarled. "I need to burn these fuckers."
"Just don’t kill the General. We need her alive!" Tyler commanded.
"Understood."
"Everyone else but Vox and Leviathan, now!"
Everyone except those two came out of Tyler. He very specifically wanted to link with Vox, and he knew if Leviathan caused a massive whirlpool, everything would be swallowed and their recon would be ruined.
The General stuck her rod into the ground, but Gaia kept moving so she couldn’t be hit, always grabbing hold of Astrid before she could slip away.
The girls watched and desperately wanted to go help Tyler, but with all the chaos, they now understood why he wanted to go alone.
"There’s no way with all the chaos... we could have ended up getting hit by friendly fire," Nyx said while watching the stream anxiously.
"He looks like he’s in good control and not overly angry, though. It’s when he gets really pissed off that I start to worry. I just don’t want him to go too far," Sophie said nervously.
"It’ll be all right, ladies. He looks damn good doing it. Look at that finesse. He’s phasing in and out of bots like it’s effortless!" Kass cheered.
"What happens if one of those prongs hits him, though? Isn’t he stuck?" Amanda asked.
None of them had thought of that. That would not be ideal. They knew how powerful the rods were for draining and stealing life force, but they weren’t sure if they could just zap Tyler powerless or not. That one question changed everything for them.
"Well, we just have to hope he’s not in imminent danger, or we go," Nyx said confidently.
Tyler and his familiars continued the massacre of the bots. With all of his magic and his ability to change into a phoenix, they couldn’t keep track of his movements or get a good read on what he was going to do next. Vivian and Maximus couldn’t charm the AI bots, but Vivian finally saw an opening to Astrid.
"Tyler, clear me a path!" she screamed.
He phased over behind Astrid, whacked her on the back of the head with his staff, and Vivian appeared right in front of her.
"Got her, Tyler! What do you want me to ask?"
"Why are they here, and what do they want?"
"We have come to take over the planet and all of its power," the General unwillingly answered. Tyler recognized she was fighting it, so he gave her another baseball-swing club hit with his staff.
"Why did they start with the elves?"
"Easiest target. Quickest power gain with the least resistance."
"What are their next plans?"
"I do not know."
"Why won’t the Commander just fight me?"
"I do not know."
"Ask her anything you might find valuable!" Tyler exclaimed.
"How much do you know about this planet?"
"Everything."
"What about realms?"
"Everything."
"FUCK!" Maximus shouted.
"Do you have a means to get to the Eidolon realm?"
"No, we need Tyler."
"Let’s get the fuck out of here!" Vivian shouted, noticing her charm was breaking.
’Full recall,’ Tyler thought, and as soon as the orbs landed inside of him, he landed on his bed in his apartment, just as General Astrid’s rod was about two inches from his face.
"Way too close," he muttered.
The girls heard him, sprinted in, and tackled him.
"That was reckless!" they complained.
"I know, but we got a ton of great information! Now we know they can cancel my staff, the Generals are actual humans who have advanced to humanoids, and their cyborg army isn’t really that big of a threat for us. I’m worried about them finding a way to the Land of Summoned Monsters, but it seems I’m that key. We can’t let them have us," Tyler said calmly.
"Here, drink," Kass said while pulling out the large jug of the mixed potions and pouring some into Tyler’s mouth.
[You are not fully replenished.]
’Wait, what?’
[You are growing, and you used more than you usually do. You need a full glass.]
Tyler explained the situation to his wives, and they knew they had to go talk to the dean. After he drank a full glass of the potion, he felt better, but he realized they had finally gone through an entire jug. Sure, they had plenty left, but at what rate were all of their needs going to start to increase to the point where they were drinking a full glass each?
The dean was concerned and scolded Tyler for being reckless. He quickly apologized afterwards, but Tyler appreciated the sentiment. It was good to know the dean actually cared about his well-being. They weren’t sure what they should do with this information. If they gave it to the government or any agency that the Necrams could hack, they’d have all this information on their mainframe. Tyler had the cameras on when he returned to his apartment, and they didn’t want to give away that location or anything that was said after.
"I feel so stupid! How did I not think to turn them off?!" Tyler sighed.
"It’s okay, babe. It’s not your fault. You had just gone through a very tough battle and had a close encounter and were preserving your safety. I’m sure Tommy can edit the footage or something?" Kass reassured him.
"I’m not even sure we should give it to him! What if they’re able to hack into his data or software, or we put him at risk? I think, unfortunately, we’re the ones stuck with the information for now," Sophie countered.
"These are all great points, ladies. I will not tell anyone what happened today. Perhaps you should speak with Adam. Make sure he’s on the same page. I’m sure he’s probably pretty angry he was left behind," the dean said matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, he was, but I couldn’t risk it."
"I understand, Tyler. I think your wives do as well. Your Eidolons are very powerful, and although they have great discipline, with an attack of that magnitude, there’s no telling who or what could have been caught in the crossfire. The last thing you would ever want to do is injure one of your wives or friends accidentally." The dean reminded him of what the wives already felt. It was good for them to hear it.
"Thanks, Dean Pritchett. We’ll talk soon," Tyler said before teleporting everyone but Nyx and Sophie back to the apartment.
"Whoa! That feels so cool to do it myself." Sophie smiled while landing right next to Nyx.
"You have way better control than I did at first, and I had Vox! Nice job, babe," Tyler said with a giant smile.
"I need to go talk to Adam. I’ll be right back. I love you, ladies!"
******
Adam was sitting down watching an anime when Tyler showed up in his room.
"Bro, I’m really sorry. I didn’t want you to get caught in the crossfire."
"It’s okay, bro. I was really pissed at first, but I figured you’d do something crazy like unleash all your Eidolons. There’s no way I would have been able to dodge all of that," Adam laughed.
"I miss you, man. We need to have a day where we just kick back and chill," Tyler admitted while giving his best friend a hug.
"Yeah, we really do," Adam agreed.
