Lighting Lanterns in the Mountains and Seas

Chapter 1105 - 921: The Last Flicker of a Strong Crossbow

When secretly arriving at Yuling Mountain, Huang Yingying was already in place, waiting. He had been in secluded cultivation and was temporarily awakened by Shi Chun.

He had no choice, as Huang Yingying was the best fighter here at the moment. Heading to the Beiju Continent of Yan State, who knows what they'll encounter. Having more skilled fighters around can never be wrong.

The three figures had just disappeared into a cave in the mountain when a white-clothed figure appeared in the distance; it was Bai Qiru.

She slowly approached the cave's edge with a tobacco pipe in hand, but was stopped by two Golden-haired Mouse Clan people who suddenly emerged, "Lady Bai, halt. You cannot enter here without permission."

Bai Qiru said, "I saw Huang Yingying go in, I'm looking for him."

She also saw the other two, but didn't know who they were. Wu Jinliang had used a Transformation Technique to conceal his form.

The one blocking her shook his head and refused, "Lady Bai, the clan leader has said that without his permission, no one is to enter here without leave."

Seeing it was on the clan leader's orders, Bai Qiru puffed her pipe without saying more and turned to leave.

Deep within a newly built mansion in the city, in a serene courtyard, a dim solitary lamp lit the hall. A red-clothed woman with a big red flower in her hair lounged in a rocking chair, leg crossed, more delightful than the flower, playing with a Mother-child Talisman in her hands.

The message had been sent, but no response came for a long time. After much contemplation, she turned the talisman to send another rather crude message: Are you there?

The person should be there; she wouldn't have come all this way not knowing if they were there. She was sure they were before she came.

However, after waiting a long time again, there was still no response.

The leisurely rocking turned gradually quiet, her brows creased as she slowly closed her eyes, her mana stirring. Her domain expanded, covering the Commander Mansion of Dingnan Prefecture.

She was familiar with Shi Chun's aura and movements, especially since she had deliberately paid attention. As long as he was there, she could detect him.

Much later, she retracted her domain. Her opened eyes showed surprise; he really wasn't there, at least not within his residence. Could her information channel be wrong?

Since he might truly not be there, she didn't dwell too much, got up, and swung a black cloak over her shoulders as she went out.

In this chilly, secluded mansion, it was as if no one else existed; indeed, there wasn't a second person in sight. She opened the courtyard's side door and wandered the streets freely, admiring and exploring this newly risen city, listening to the bustling discussions.

She heard much praise for Shi Chun. Whenever she heard such talk, she would pause and listen, a solitary flower under the streetlight, leaving a trace in the world.

And today, there seemed to be many looking for Shi Chun as well.

Someone took advantage of the darkness to visit the Commander Mansion, seeking an appointment. The visitor was none other than the Phoenix Clan leader Feng Xi and two attendants, all cloaked in black.

Of course, he took a more subtle approach, not directly requesting to see Shi Chun, but asking to see Feng Chi instead.

When Feng Chi received the request, she opened it and hesitated, "Old acquaintance?"

It claimed to be an old acquaintance seen days ago. She could not help hesitating; she had seen many people not long ago and wondered which one it was, being quite busy and unable to meet just anyone.

After some reconsideration, she instructed, "Let them rest at the mountain gate first."

Before long, Feng Xi and his two companions were invited inside the gates.

As the three entered, the red-clothed woman, cloaked in her cape, happened to wander past not far from them. Her gaze briefly fell on their backs, but she paid them no mind.

In the guest hall within the mountain gate where they rested, someone served tea. Feng Xi neither thanked nor touched it.

After waiting a little while, Feng Chi finally arrived, glanced at the three, and smiled, "Which old acquaintance has come to visit?"

Feng Xi raised his hand with his back to the outsiders, slightly lifting the brim of his hat to reveal his true face. Making eye contact, he lowered his hand and gestured for silence.

Seeing it was him, Feng Chi was taken aback, her heart stirred. The Master had mentioned the Phoenix Clan might come looking, and she was doubtful. Now, they had not only come but Feng Xi had personally arrived.

Soon after, Feng Xi's voice transmitted into her ear, "Take me to see Shi Chun."

Feng Chi quickly waved for the armored soldiers guarding the entrance to step back, then whispered, "Clan leader, Lord Commander is away on an errand, he's not here."

"..." Feng Xi was speechless, keen to curse, or frankly say, Young Master Nan entered earlier and hasn't been seen leaving, likely drinking tea with that guy?

But he had no proof. After pondering, he asked, "Where did he go?"

Feng Chi blinked, "I don't know, they said he went to bring industry into Dingnan Prefecture."

Having received prior instructions from Shi Chun, she knew how to handle this one.

Feng Xi asked further, "When will he return?"

Feng Chi: "There's no set return date."

Feng Xi: "Then send someone to bring him back."

Feng Chi: "Okay, I'll send someone to contact him."

Feng Xi: "They don't have a place to stay, do they?"

This clearly meant he would wait on the mountain. Courteously, Feng Chi immediately led the way.

With such a large Commander Mansion, finding a place for the three to rest was naturally no problem. She found them a nice courtyard with a view of the city's scenery.

In the Beiju Continent, Shi Chun, Wu Jinliang, and Huang Yingying, who had emerged from the Two Realms Channel, landed in a mountain forest.

The three of them looked around to confirm their location. Shi Chun didn't even know where he had ended up, but could be sure the Soul Capturing Bag he buried wasn't too far.

This was also the flaw of this method; even if the Soul Capturing Bag was placed in the same position, the opening location of the Two Realms Channel was always unpredictably erratic.
