Chapter 320: Chapter 298: This Place Feels Like Home
"Take your hand away!"
The moment the tentacles appeared, a teacher standing nearby hurriedly shouted.
Lloyd, already startled by the tentacles that had suddenly burst forth, immediately snatched his hand back as if he’d been shocked.
The Crystal Ball instantly dimmed, and the tentacles that had emerged vanished into thin air, returning everything to calm.
"Uh... a scene like that..."
Lloyd stared blankly for a moment, glanced down at his own hand, then turned his head and asked:
"Does this mean I have a great talent for learning Magic?"
"You..."
His question left the four bald men present completely speechless...
After several seconds, one of the bald teachers reached up to scratch his non-existent hair, then said very seriously:
"Apologies, but we can’t draw a conclusion. A phenomenon like this is something we have never encountered before."
Another teacher added:
"Alright, the talent test ends here. You two, take him for a walk somewhere else, but remember—do not, under any circumstances, let him touch those Magical Creatures again!"
With that, they impatiently shooed Lloyd and the other two out of the infirmary, then slammed the door shut with a BANG.
"This..."
The two bald brothers who had brought Lloyd over to "broaden his horizons" were suddenly incredibly awkward.
Lloyd asked helplessly,
"So... what’s the situation now?"
"Let’s go to the lounge and talk..."
The older bald brother gestured with his chin toward the other end of the hallway.
The three of them headed to the lounge together, while back in the infirmary, the two teachers gathered around the Crystal Ball, conducting a careful examination.
"The readings don’t show any abnormalities. His Tier is only Tier Three with [Veto], but his Spiritual Power is immense—far beyond the standard for Tier Three, even stronger than an average Tier Five... But what about that phenomenon just now?"
"This ’Detection Crystal,’ aside from its usual functions, can also read a student’s shallow thoughts. With our verbal guidance, the results it displays should closely reflect their subconscious visualization of the concept of ’Magic.’ So why did a bunch of profane tentacles appear?"
"Could it be that in his subconscious, he associates Magic with... that stuff? Does he hold some deep malice toward Magic?"
"Even so, it shouldn’t have been that kind of phenomenon. We’ve had students before who were indifferent or even disgusted by magic. When they touched the Detection Crystal, the most we saw were some ominous images, not tentacles that signify madness and Chaos."
"Could it be because he’s a special new student from the Space System? If he’s connected to Space, then it wouldn’t be strange for any kind of freak to show up."
"That’s possible..."
one of the bald teachers said as he opened the cabinet where the Crystal Ball was kept. He pulled out a long, thin strip of paper from underneath it and examined the various marks left on it.
"It’s a shame. His physical condition is actually excellent. Aside from being too thin, his other basic stats perfectly meet our requirements here. If it weren’t for that problem just now, he should have been able to pass the next few tests without issue."
The other teacher took the strip of paper, looked at it carefully, and said with considerable regret:
"Yeah, his Spiritual Power is immense, and his Rationality is high. What’s even more remarkable is his extremely strong adaptability to Spiritual Contamination. That’s an incomparably precious talent, the mark of a once-in-a-generation genius! The next few tests certainly wouldn’t have been a problem for him...
The only flaw is that his body is too frail. The ’Catch a Bullet with Bare Hands’ test might have stumped him."
"It’s a shame his impression of ’Magic’ is just too bizarre. Otherwise..."
"Should we report this to the professors? See what the higher-ups say?"
"Good idea. But the kid’s already been snatched up by the Space System. Trying to persuade that Lawrence to let him go? That’ll be difficult, right? Even though he doesn’t seem to make a move often, I doubt anyone in the academy is willing to try and convince him."
"That’s a problem for the professors to consider. In any case, let’s report it first."
... ... ...
"Huh? Why does becoming a Mage also require ’Breaking Boulders on Your Chest’ and ’Catching Bullets with Your Bare Hands’?"
Lloyd asked, a look of utter astonishment on his face, while lifting a dumbbell.
Then, a commotion reached his ears:
"HNNG~ HNNG~ HRAAAAAAGH!!!"
It was the sound of a musclehead in the distance doing bench presses.
And this so-called "lounge" was basically just a gym!
Inside, several bald ’Mages’ with beautifully sculpted muscles were "resting."
Yes, resting by doing bench presses, deadlifts, and pull-ups...
Although Lloyd found it bizarre, seeing that every one of these guys had a ’demon back,’ he couldn’t help but feel a little envious.
The Fitness Manual that Shandu from the City of Order had given him was great for increasing strength and physical fitness, but it wasn’t very effective for building muscle. ’I wonder why that is?’
But since he was in a gym, Lloyd decided to ’do as the Romans do,’ casually picking up a dumbbell to play with while he chatted with the bald brothers.
Since the subsequent stages of the test had been canceled, the two brothers verbally described the remaining test items for Lloyd.
And that’s when he heard about the ’Breaking Boulders on Your Chest’ and ’Catching Bullets with Your Bare Hands’ parts...
’Are you guys trying to become Mages or street performers?’
"It’s not what you think. While it might sound a bit like a street performance, it’s a completely different model. It’s mainly used to test your application of Spiritual Power and the ability of your inspiration to guide your body’s coordination. These are results that the Detection Crystal can’t see."
