Chapter 293 - 282: Ways to Detect Spatial Coordinates (Part 2)
Chapter 293: Chapter 282: Ways to Detect Spatial Coordinates (Part 2)
Though they were called "crevices," after testing them out, Lloyd felt the term was a bit of an understatement. These things were huge.
They might have been bigger than the physical world itself.
The conventional concepts of "distance" and "dimensions" didn’t apply within them. They could be vast, or they could be minuscule.
Theoretically, as long as he could find specific spatial coordinates, he could traverse these crevices to instantly arrive anywhere in the world, or even visit any of the Alternate Spaces surrounding the physical plane.
Just like returning to his sister’s side or heading to Mizkakotok University.
The problem was, pinpointing a specific coordinate in a realm without distance or dimensions was incredibly difficult. It was like trying to find a single blade of seaweed in an infinite ocean.
Without clear guidance, without something like a Beacon to use as a reference point, it was nearly impossible to find such a minuscule coordinate.
The only reason Lloyd had managed to pinpoint Evelor’s coordinates on his first try was that the two siblings had relied on each other since they were children. They were each other’s most important—and only—family. Naturally, that made her easy to find.
But locating Elolo would be far more troublesome. It would likely require countless probes and repeated attempts, and even then, there was only a minuscule chance he’d find her coordinates.
’Of course, I could also try to deepen my connection with Elolo, to make her one of the most important people in my heart, too.’
’But I’m not even by her side. I can only spend this silent half-hour with her each day, unable to even speak. It’s going to be pretty hard...’
With his current understanding and mastery of Space, Lloyd really didn’t have a good solution.
’Sigh... I’ll just have to take it slow...’
’Maybe once my [Spatial Domination] level increases, it’ll be much easier to pinpoint a specific person?’
’I could also wait for Elolo to get a bit stronger, at least to the point where she doesn’t fall asleep the moment I arrive. That way, we could actually talk more. Once our relationship grows closer, the probability of locating her will improve significantly.’
He could only try to look on the bright side.
Fortunately, locating Mizkakotok University was much, much easier than locating Elolo.
For one, Mizkatoke itself was huge. For another, the brooch he was using had come from there.
If locating Elolo was like finding a single blade of seaweed in an infinite ocean,
then locating Mizkakotok University was like finding a sizable island within a defined area of that ocean.
The two tasks weren’t even in the same league of difficulty. The former was like finding a needle in a haystack; the latter simply required a bit of time and patience.
Lloyd was confident he could find the "university gates" within three days.
’Then again,’ he wondered, ’is Mizkakotok University really that hard to get into?’
’Just finding the gates is making me break a sweat. How do the other students manage it?’
’Everyone inside must be the best of the best, true prodigies, right?’
’That makes sense, though. After all, even the admissions brooch is a valuable piece of Spatial Equipment. The students there are bound to be exceptional.’
’Once I enroll, I have to get along with my classmates and professors and build some solid friendships. That way, the next time I run into a situation like today, or face a powerful enemy like the Advisor, I can just call for backup and watch them get wiped out.’
As Lloyd’s thoughts wandered, he began to daydream about his future university life.
He even pictured the scene—
He stood with his back against a crystal pillar, facing a tidal wave of enemies alone, on the verge of being submerged and torn to shreds.
But in the next second, THUD... THUD... THUD... Hundreds of pillars of light crashed down behind him. His unbelievably powerful classmates charged out from within, and working together, they effortlessly annihilated the enemy.
Just the thought was enough to get his blood pumping!
Unfortunately, before Lloyd could imagine the rest of the story, his half-hour of [Infiltration] came to an end, and he groggily drifted off to sleep.
But on this night, many were destined to have a sleepless night.
For example, a certain suit of armor from the Radiant Sect and a Hunter wearing a colorful clown mask.
The two of them respectively represented and led two great Judgment Courts: the Holy Judgment Court and the Saint’s Grace Court.
With them were a scholar in a white robe and monocle; a handsome, elegant young man who was always smiling with narrowed eyes; and a Priest in lavish robes, wearing a coronet of power.
These three, in turn, represented and led the Saint’s Favor Court, the Crusaders, and the departments responsible for external relations and administration.
Five people—three Grand Judges, one Grand Knight Commander, and one Archbishop—were the five highest-ranking leaders of the Radiant Sect.
In name, the Sect followed the Saint, but the Saint certainly did not participate in daily management. Therefore, these five were the de facto administrators and controllers of the Radiant Sect.
Yet at this moment, they were crowded into a far-from-luxurious conference room. Though light bulbs cast a bright light all around, the atmosphere was awkward and silent, and every person there carried a greater or lesser degree of anxiety and agitation.
No one took the initiative to speak, as if waiting for someone else to go first.
In the end, it was the Archbishop—the one who appeared most respectable, and was also the oldest—who was the first to speak:
"I’m just an internal affairs manager, responsible for cleaning up your messes and handling the trivial matters you’re not interested in. Why on earth did you have to drag me into this? You can’t possibly think I’m still capable of purging Cultists, do you? Should I use my cane and a small mallet?"
The Grand Knight Commander, who appeared cultured and was always smiling pleasantly, as if he were easy to talk to, let out a cold laugh.
"Hmph. I see you’ve grown so comfortable in your vortex of money and power that you’re trying to shirk responsibility even for an event of this magnitude."
"Fine, fine, I’m shirking my duties. In that case, why don’t you preside over my retirement ceremony? I’ve been wanting to return to the countryside and start a farm for a long time now."
"Alright, alright, now is not the time for this. If we truly have nothing to discuss, I suggest we continue to remain silent and wait for further updates before we talk."
"And how long must we wait? I have very important research to conduct tomorrow... By the way, Demani, this whole mess was clearly caused by your people. Couldn’t you have handled it yourself? Was it really necessary to call all of us here?"
"Do you think I enjoy sitting here with you boring old fossils?" Demani retorted. "If this wasn’t related to the Chasing Madness Sect and the resurgence of the [Nirvana] system, I’d be happy to never see any of you again."
"And what’s this about it being ’a mess caused by my people’? A massive Cult was lurking on the Great Pioneering Path. If my good brother hadn’t been sharp enough to uncover this conspiracy in time, I dread to think what kind of chaos would have erupted."
"Hmph. Or do you want to bring up that tired old topic again? If my Saint’s Grace Court were given the same resources and treatment as the rest of you, I could guarantee this sort of thing would never happen again."
Just as the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward and a full-blown argument seemed imminent, a timely knock came from the large door nearby.
Then, a Judge entered, holding a large stack of investigative reports and the transcribed statements provided by the three investigators after they had regained consciousness.
After a detailed briefing, the room was finally able to settle into a proper discussion.
"He actually killed a Cult Steward? My good brother Lloyd has really given me a wonderful surprise! Hahaha!" Demani boomed.
"Judging from the residual auras of two Saint-level powers at the scene, he must have received help from two Saints, correct? One was the Saint we follow. Who was the other?"
"It was the young Little Saint from the City of Joy," Demani said with a laugh. "Haha, you didn’t know, did you? My good brother managed to sweep her off her feet."
"What?"
