Chapter 2166: Chapter 2166: Mr. Zombie (25)

"Bro, what I said just now was fine, right?" As soon as they left that group of people, the guy next to Big Gold Chain immediately asked in a fawning tone.

That camera wasn’t his at all, he’d just picked it up.

The camera wasn’t broken either; there were some photos inside, including one of Jin Ling.

Because Jin Ling looked pretty good and was in the official team up front, she was quite eye‑catching. When he was chatting with others, Big Gold Chain overheard.

And then...

Then he got called over.

He didn’t know if what he said was true or not; anyway, whatever Big Gold Chain told him to say, he said it.

"Not bad." Big Gold Chain was the Boss who’d blocked Chuzheng before: "This is for you."

Big Gold Chain shoved two gold bars into his hands.

"..."

"Bro, this is..." What use is this? Bite it and it’ll chip my teeth!

Big Gold Chain swept him with a knife‑sharp glare: "What, you got a problem?"

"N...no." Even if he had a problem, he wouldn’t dare say it.

"Spread this around." Big Gold Chain continued to instruct him: "Do this right, and come to me to collect supplies."

"Okay, okay, no problem." The man nodded instantly, all obsequious.

Just spreading a rumor, easy as hell.

After arranging this guy, Big Gold Chain took advantage of no one paying attention and slipped into the small grove beside them.

Two zombies were wandering in the grove. Hearing movement, they suddenly twisted their heads around, that hazy gray gaze seeming to glow green.

Big Gold Chain was scared shitless, but in the end he still screwed up his courage, went forward, and stuffed the written note into the pocket of one of the zombies.

"Roar!"

One zombie suddenly roared at him, acting like it was about to pounce.

Big Gold Chain’s legs went weak from fright, he even forgot to run.

The zombie beside it slapped out with one hand, blocking that zombie.

"Roar!"

That zombie wasn’t having it and immediately slapped back.

"Roar roar!!"

The two zombies suddenly started fighting. Only then did Big Gold Chain snap out of it and bolt, scrambling away like his ass was on fire.

After he’d run a bit, curiosity got the better of him; he swallowed and snuck back to take a look.

The two zombies had stopped fighting. One of them was staggering away, and the other was scrambling up from the ground, limping after it.

Big Gold Chain: "..."

-

Big Gold Chain’s handwriting looked like it’d been scratched out by a dog. Zhi Kai and a few others had to guess and fill in the blanks before they could read the whole message smoothly.

And none of them had ever imagined that one day they’d have to rely on zombies to pass messages.

Everyone looked over toward Chuzheng.

The little girl was sitting in a chair in a bold, domineering pose, with two zombies standing in front of her. One of them was pointing at the other, going ’roar roar hurr hurr’ nonstop, extremely agitated.

The little girl’s expression was serious, like she really understood.

But it was all for nothing.

Chuzheng didn’t understand a single word.

She was completely lost.

She was questioning her life choices...

"Roar roar!!" The zombie finished off with two loud roars.

"Mm, I got it, you’re all brothers here, get along peacefully." Chuzheng casually bullshitted something, then waved them off: "You can go now."

Zombies: "..."

Did you actually understand?!

Chuzheng’s combat power was so high that these zombies didn’t really dare to challenge her. They slunk off, tails between their legs.

Chuzheng let out a breath.

Scared the hell out of me.

But in Zhi Kai and the others’ eyes, that move was badass as hell... their Big Shot could even understand zombie talk.

A Big Shot is still a Big Shot.

"Big Shot, this is the copy we wrote out." Zhi Kai trotted over and handed her the message.

Chuzheng glanced at it; Big Gold Chain was saying he’d already done what Chuzheng told him to do.

Chuzheng thought for a moment: "Catch up to them."

"...Why?" Didn’t the Big Shot dislike traveling with other people?

Chuzheng: "..."

Obviously to go... be a good person.

Working hard to be a good person again today!

-

Once the rumor spread through the convoy, Jin Ling’s days naturally got a lot harder—especially with the people on the official side. They’d originally liked her quite a bit; who would’ve thought she’d pull this kind of stunt.

Jin Ling never expected the other side to be this ruthless, making sure everyone knew about it this fast.

"Miss Jin, your injuries are almost healed, and our resources here are pretty tight. From now on, you’ll have to figure things out on your own."

The person walked off after speaking, not giving Jin Ling any chance to talk.

Jin Ling had always ridden in the official car; now that they weren’t providing it, what was she supposed to do?

Under all those probing stares, Jin Ling forced herself to walk toward the back of the convoy.

"That’s her, huh?"

"Sure is. Looks pretty well‑behaved, but who knew she was that vicious. I heard there were dozens of people at that water plant, and she got them all killed."

"Ah..."

"How can someone do something like that."

Jin Ling tried her best to ignore the pointing and whispering, but some voices just couldn’t be blocked out.

They kept drilling into her ears.

Taking root and sprouting in her heart.

Pricking at every nerve.

And you’re so much better than me how, exactly? Aren’t you also trampling on other people’s blood to stay alive? What gives you the right to judge me?

What gives you...

Jin Ling’s lips were unknowingly bitten through by her own teeth, the taste of blood spreading across her tongue.

The convoy gradually started moving. As the front section rolled out, Jin Ling still hadn’t found anyone to give her a ride.

Left alone out here in the wilderness, even if she didn’t run into zombies, food and water would already be a huge problem.

Jin Ling was faintly anxious, but no one stopped.

She couldn’t care about anything else anymore; survival instincts drove her to grab people she recognized and beg them to take her.

"Can’t do it, look at my car, it’s full."

"No empty seats in my car."

"No way, I can’t take another person..."

Everyone said the same thing.

Rejected over and over, Jin Ling’s face got uglier and uglier. All she could do was watch every car drive past, leaving only a cloud of dust behind.

Just when Jin Ling was about to figure out a way on her own, a car backed up and returned.

Jin Ling wasn’t very familiar with the people in the car, but from the way they looked, she knew they weren’t good news.

"Little girl, want a ride?"

Jin Ling stepped back. "N...no need."

"There’s nothing around here, and right now you’ve got nothing. Dying out here would be a waste." The man in the car said with a smile.

What he said was the truth, but there was a hint of threat in it too.

"No!" Jin Ling turned and ran.

Someone in the car immediately jumped out, chased her down, and blocked her path.

Jin Ling had always relied on other people’s strength; she herself wasn’t that capable. The man was tall and strong, and once he blocked her, she couldn’t run at all.

"I’m not getting in, let me go!"

"Little girl, we’re helping you here. Don’t be so ungrateful." The man in the car kept smiling: "Get her in."

"Don’t touch me!"

"Let go!"

Jin Ling’s screams got no response at all. Two men grabbed her arms on either side and dragged her toward the car.

Panic surged in Jin Ling’s chest. She clawed and scratched at the men, screaming as she struggled.

But the convoy had already been gone for a while; no one could hear her anymore.

Jin Ling was no match for this group and was forced into the car.
