Chapter 773 - A Roar in the Distance
That night, Broken spent his time in the game. With nothing pressing to do in the real world, he chose to dedicate the night to crafting inside his Crawling Carriage.
SexyGrill kept him company, and the two spent the evening talking about various things—especially about her quest progress. She wanted to bring Broken along to find the Floating Island, where the Forest Elf Kingdom of Vensalor was rumored to be located.
She also explained why she hadn’t joined the Eternal Challenge. It turned out she had too many things on her plate within the game.
This girl… she had invested way more time into Immortal Legacy than Broken had expected.
Then again, it made sense. She was one of the four players Broken knew—including himself—who held the title of Divine Champion and possessed a Unique-grade Class. The other two were Frostedge and Galactron.
SexyGrill was far from an ordinary player.
And Broken respected that.
On top of that, she was also a guild leader, which only added to the weight of her responsibilities and the achievements she had accumulated in the game.
Was this somehow connected to what she had told him before…?
That theory of hers—the possibility that her father’s soul had been transferred into the game after he passed away?
Maybe that was why she was so deeply involved, why she poured so much of herself into this world. It was possible. Or maybe not.
When she had first spoken about it—back when they had gone to an amusement park together—Broken could feel the raw emotions in her words, the deep sadness she carried.
But then again… was that even possible?
A soul transferred into a game?
It didn’t sound logical. After all, this was just a game. Right?
Broken had considered bringing up the topic with SexyGrill that night, but in the end, he decided against it.
She was someone who always spoke with cheerfulness and optimism, and for some reason, he didn’t want to be the one to ruin that atmosphere.
The Next Day
At dawn, Broken and SexyGrill left the city, continuing their journey.
Riding on Polly, they made their way toward the forest region, which would eventually lead them to the mountainous area. Broken knew this journey wouldn’t be easy.
As Polly sprinted across the savannah, leaving the city far behind, SexyGrill sat behind him, holding on as they raced toward their next destination.
“We’ll be doing a lot of monster hunting along the way!” SexyGrill shouted from behind.
“That would be fun—especially since you’re the one getting all the experience points, right?” Broken replied dryly.
She giggled at his words. “Don’t worry! Isn’t it a good thing for you if I level up quickly? The higher my level, the bigger the Level boost you’ll get. So, we better hunt as many monsters as possible—and go for the highest levels we can find.”
They kept moving, Polly’s speed sending strong gusts of wind crashing against Broken’s body.
“Why didn’t you bring anyone else on this journey, Grill? You have plenty of high-level guild members, don’t you?”
For a moment, she didn’t answer. Then, finally, she spoke.
“I’m not sure this journey will be easy… I just don’t want to put them in danger.” She paused briefly before adding, “Besides, the fewer people, the easier it is to manage our schedules, right?”
That made sense. Grill still had to juggle her school life, which meant whenever she was offline, Broken could spend time in the Moonlight Dimension, working on other tasks—like challenging the Tower Trial.
Based on Broken’s reading of the map, the journey through the mountain region was going to take a considerable amount of time.
Given their schedules, at worst, it could take two weeks—or even a month.
And that was assuming they actually managed to find the Dragonkin Tribe. Even then, who knew what kind of encounter awaited them?
According to the information he had gathered, the Dragonkin were not welcoming to outsiders. They were known to be hostile toward both humans and players who had accidentally crossed paths with them before.
So, this was a serious gamble.
If they died, they would be sent back to the Resurrection Temple—which, thankfully, Broken had already set to the nearest city in the region.
But despite the risks, this was a lead they couldn’t ignore. The Dragonkin had to know something about Ivana.
As they entered the forest, Broken summoned Blaze and switched to riding the Demon Beast, while SexyGrill remained on Polly.
To further secure their advance, he also summoned two beasts from Gaia—Abyss Thorn Ox and Eclipse Tiger Lily. One specialized in tanking, while the other focused on offense.
With this formation, Broken could move through the forest more comfortably, staying on his mount while the summoned beasts handled any monsters that attempted to attack them.
Even so, he kept his bow ready, preferring ranged attacks to conserve energy.
Meanwhile, SexyGrill moved effortlessly alongside him, summoning her floating swords—sleek, razor-sharp weapons that danced through the air, slicing through enemies with graceful precision whenever monsters approached. She, too, remained comfortably seated on Polly.
By midday, as they ventured deeper, the monsters grew stronger. Their levels increased, and killing them quickly became more difficult.
Then—without warning—massive lizards emerged from all directions. Their piercing shrieks filled the air, a clear sign of aggression.
And in an instant, they attacked—rushing toward Broken and SexyGrill at incredible speed.
With the sudden ambush, Broken had no choice but to switch to melee combat. He drew his spear, engaging the monsters head-on while still riding Blaze.
Fighting atop the Demon Beast wasn’t just for mobility—it also boosted his damage output, making every strike he landed even more devastating.
However, knowing that using large-area attacks would risk drawing even more monsters, Broken chose to focus on single-target skills, engaging the enemies directly instead.
To gain an extra edge in battle, he also summoned Dendros. The guardian rushed into the fray, adding more force to their assault.
After an intense fight, the battle finally ended. They had taken down around 12 monsters, each with a level above 220.
Broken exhaled deeply. He was reminded once again—the stronger the monsters, the larger their health pools, and the more dangerous their skills became. Explore stories on My Virtual Library Empire
But this time, the fight had been worth it.
Because among the loot, one particular drop stood out—a Soul Stone.
The glowing gem hovered briefly before shooting toward him, absorbing into his body as if drawn in by some unseen force.
“A SOUL STONE?!” SexyGrill screamed in disbelief.
Broken dismounted Blaze, holding up the Soul Stone to show her.
“Do you want it, Grill?” he asked casually.
“No… I knew you got that because of your cheat blessing from your Divine Champion skills, right? I knew it!” she huffed.
“How can you call it a cheat skill when you have one too?” he countered with a smirk.
She sighed at his response. “You do realize that my blessing doesn’t directly affect me, right? It only works on those who form a contract with me. My kind of blessing requires me to rely on others. Not like you—you can fight alone without needing anyone.”
Broken chuckled before responding. “As a reward, I’ll forge a sword for you. What do you think?”
“Really?!” she gasped, her eyes lighting up with excitement. “Thank you…!”
Suddenly—
A roar echoed through the air, followed by a powerful tremor that shook the ground beneath them.
At the same moment, Zepy, the flying golem, sent a warning signal to Broken.
“Grill, hide…” he said urgently, grabbing her arm as they dashed toward the cover of the trees.
