Legend of Wyatt
Chapter 3056: Immortal Sovereign Reincarnated?
The middle-aged man was dumbfounded, completely dumbfounded.
In fact, the moment Wyatt Barnes recognized him as a killer from the Blood Skeleton Clan, and even seemed to know the Blood Skeleton Clan quite well, yet didn’t show even the slightest trace of fear, he had already faintly sensed that something was wrong.
Only, once he thought of the message from Bradley Clark, Inner Sect disciple of the Embrace Simplicity Immortal Sect, and then remembered that the person before him was just a newly ascended immortal with no real background, his heart instantly settled.
Although the other party was very likely a reincarnated immortal cultivating anew, and had an eight or nine out of ten chance of having awakened his past-life memories.
But so what?
No matter how strong he was in his previous life, right now he was only a minor immortal at the peak Upper Immortal of Love Rowan level!
"You... you, how... how is this possible?!"
The middle-aged man was horrified to discover that even when he now unleashed several other profundities of the Water Law, he still couldn’t shake the hand with which Wyatt was gripping his fist.
Wyatt stood there, casually holding the middle-aged man’s fist, letting the water-element on the man’s fist rampage in all sorts of ways, yet remained utterly unmoving.
"Hmph!"
With a cold snort, Wyatt impatiently lifted the hand that was gripping the middle-aged man’s fist.
In the next instant.
Rip!
A tearing sound rang out—Wyatt had forcibly ripped off the entire arm attached to the fist the middle-aged man had punched out with, then tossed it away at random.
In the blink of an eye, the severed arm fell into the lake below, splashing up a sheet of water, and at the same time a dazzling blood-red flower bloomed on the lake’s surface, like a crimson rose upon the water.
The whole process took quite some time; the middle-aged man had more than enough chance to pick his arm back up, yet he didn’t dare.
At this moment, the middle-aged man looked at Wyatt as though he were seeing a ghost. "You... aren’t you a peak Upper Immortal of Love Rowan?!"
"How can you have such terrifying Immortal Origin?!"
As his voice fell, the middle-aged man’s figure flickered, and he rapidly pulled back a good distance from Wyatt, as though Wyatt were some ferocious beast that would devour him.
Just now, when Wyatt made his move, he had only sensed the aura of earth-element from Wyatt’s Immortal Origin.
Wyatt’s strike, aside from using the basic earth-element profundity of the Earth-attribute Law, involved no other methods.
And Wyatt’s power being so overwhelmingly strong that he couldn’t even budge it was entirely because:
Wyatt’s Immortal Origin was already so powerful that even if he fully unleashed all his Water Law profundities and combined them with his own Immortal Origin at the One-Yuan Immortal King level, he still couldn’t shake it.
"Even the Immortal Origin of a Ten-Direction Immortal King, though it could also suppress me... still wouldn’t be as powerful as his Immortal Origin!"
"It feels... his Immortal Origin has already surpassed Immortal King, on par with an Immortal Sovereign!"
At this thought, the middle-aged man knew he could not possibly be Wyatt’s match—at least under the current circumstances, he absolutely wasn’t Wyatt’s opponent.
"This Wyatt Barnes supposedly entered the lower region of the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm not long ago... which proves he really is just a Love Rowan Upper Immortal!"
"Yet his Immortal Origin has already reached the Immortal Sovereign level... that means he’s either relying on some powerful Immortal Talisman, or on some consumable Emperor Grade Immortal Artifact!"
"Though his strength will keep being consumed, before it runs dry, killing me would still be as easy as flipping his hand!"
In a flash of lightning, the middle-aged man vaguely guessed why Wyatt possessed Immortal Origin on par with an Immortal Sovereign.
At this point, there was only one thought left in his mind:
Run!
However, just as the middle-aged man was about to make a break for it, Wyatt seemed to have long since anticipated his escape. With a lift of his hand, Immortal Origin infused with earth-element roared out.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
...
The Immortal Origin fused with earth-element howled through the void, instantly turning into pillars like black rock-forged columns that swept around the middle-aged man’s body, converging together to form a cage that trapped him within.
Although Wyatt had currently only grasped the bare rudiments of the Gravity Space profundity of the Earth-attribute Law, he could still barely cast the king-tier Immortal Method "Black Rock Prison."
Of course, the power of the Gravity Space profundity itself wasn’t strong.
Right now, what Wyatt was relying on was more his own Immortal Origin, as powerful as that of an ordinary Immortal Sovereign...
Immortal Origin on that level, fused with earth-element, even when only used to display the rudimentary Gravity Space profundity, still had terrifying might!
At the very least, once the middle-aged man was trapped inside, he was immediately crushed into a hunched posture by the gravity that appeared out of nowhere within the Black Rock Prison.
"Ah—"
The middle-aged man let out a roar; Immortal Origin fused with water-element surged from his body, taking on all sorts of different forms as it slammed into the Black Rock Prison, yet none of it managed to shake the prison.
"Can’t get away... I’m dead for sure!"
In that instant, the middle-aged man’s face turned ashen with despair; he knew there was absolutely no chance of survival.
"As long as you tell me who placed the order to have me killed, I might spare your life... After all, you’re just a killer. I’ve got no personal grudge with you—you’re only doing a job for money."
Wyatt Barnes looked at the middle-aged man whose face was deathly pale and spoke calmly.
However, after hearing Wyatt’s words, the middle-aged man merely glanced at him, and that withered face suddenly twisted into a vicious grin.
Next moment, Wyatt saw blue light burst forth from within the middle-aged man’s body, and then the man exploded on the spot, leaving behind only a skyful of blood mist that dyed Black Rock Prison a ghastly crimson.
A Storage Ring and a piece of armor drifted down.
"He killed himself?"
Wyatt frowned slightly, but then his mind unfolded, and in almost an instant he came to terms with it:
"Makes sense... For the Blood Skeleton Clan to have the kind of reputation it has today, their killers obviously wouldn’t sell out their employers so easily."
"Still, even though he’s dead, his Storage Ring is still here... The Blood Skeleton Clan, and those powerful assassin organizations across South Heaven’s Borderlands, all have a common rule: before making a move, they first collect half the deposit."
"Maybe... inside his Storage Ring, I might be able to find that deposit."
"Of course, that’s assuming the person who ordered my assassination is someone within the territory of Mystic Abyss Mansion... but if they weren’t from within Mystic Abyss Mansion’s domain, they probably wouldn’t even know who I am, much less want me dead."
"And the people within Mystic Abyss Mansion’s territory, at best they only have Top-grade Immortal Crystals on hand... An assassin organization on the Blood Skeleton Clan’s level wouldn’t even bother looking at Top-grade Immortal Crystals."
"Which means... the one who hired the Blood Skeleton Clan to kill me very likely used something other than Immortal Crystals as payment for my assassination."
In that brief instant, countless thoughts flashed through Wyatt’s mind, and he formed his own conjectures.
"On that lower-realm trip into South Heaven’s Ancient Realm, it’s true that among the people I killed, some had quite extraordinary backgrounds... But even if those factions suspect me, they can’t be certain it was me who killed them, and they wouldn’t launch such a massive operation just on suspicion to go to the Blood Skeleton Clan and put out a hit on me."
"So... the one who placed the order with the Blood Skeleton Clan to kill me is very likely someone from Baopu Immortal Sect."
With that thought, a figure suddenly surfaced in Wyatt’s mind—it was none other than the third direct disciple of Baopu Immortal Sect’s Sect Leader whom he’d met right after arriving at the sect: Bradley Clark.
"According to what those Inner Sect disciples said... if I hadn’t appeared, the direct-disciple slot I’m occupying right now would most likely have gone to Bradley Clark."
"The first time I met Bradley Clark, I could already feel his jealousy and hostility toward me... Maybe he’s the one who went to the Blood Skeleton Clan?"
"But... does he really have the ability to contact the Blood Skeleton Clan and actually place an order with them?"
With all kinds of doubts in mind, Wyatt headed back along the direction of Baopu Immortal Sect’s station. "I’ll go back and find the Sect Leader, take out everything in that man’s Storage Ring and let him see... If those things belong to Bradley Clark, the Sect Leader might recognize them."
Although Bradley Clark was the direct disciple of Baopu Immortal Sect’s Sect Leader, Liam Davidson, Wyatt also knew that Bradley Clark was merely a direct disciple under Liam with rather mediocre talent.
Liam Davidson’s other two direct disciples were both true direct disciples; their talent far surpassed Bradley Clark’s.
That was one of the reasons Bradley Clark had failed to become a true direct disciple—his talent was lacking.
Wyatt believed that if it really was Bradley Clark’s doing, Liam Davidson would definitely give him an explanation and wouldn’t cover for Bradley Clark.
Even if the matter was handled privately.
If it were an ordinary Inner Sect disciple of Baopu Immortal Sect in Wyatt’s place, Liam Davidson might not even bother about it.
Of course, Wyatt was also very clear in his heart:
The reason Liam Davidson would give him an explanation in this matter was because Wyatt held considerable value to him; that much had been obvious from Liam’s attitude when Wyatt first entered Baopu Immortal Sect.
For normal people entering Baopu Immortal Sect, Liam Davidson would never personally accompany them.
While Wyatt was on his way back to Baopu Immortal Sect’s station, far away in a distant land, the Blood Skeleton Clan assassin organization received the transmission Immortal Talisman sent in his final moments by the killer who had just committed suicide in front of Wyatt:
"Target Wyatt Barnes, though at peak Love Rowan Upper Immortal, possesses an Immortal Talisman or consumable Emperor Grade Immortal Artifact that can grant him Immortal Origin Force at the Immortal Sovereign level... The intelligence was wrong, I failed."
Once this transmission Immortal Talisman reached the Blood Skeleton Clan, ’Lima Holland’, the illegitimate son of one of the Clan’s Vice Leaders who had commissioned the hit on Wyatt Barnes, quickly received the report.
"What?!"
"That Wyatt Barnes actually possesses an Immortal Talisman or consumable Emperor Grade Immortal Artifact that can give him Immortal Origin Force comparable to an Immortal Sovereign’s?"
Lima Holland was completely dumbfounded.
He had never imagined that Wyatt Barnes would actually have such a trump card!
"Looks like he really is a reincarnated immortal, and his previous life definitely wasn’t some ordinary immortal... And he’s clearly recovered his past-life memories and obtained the legacy he left for himself back then."
In Lima Holland’s view, the Immortal Talisman or consumable Emperor Grade Immortal Artifact that allowed Wyatt to possess Immortal Origin Force on par with an Immortal Sovereign was certainly something his past self had left for his current life.
Wyatt Barnes’s previous life was very likely an Immortal Sovereign powerhouse...
And not just an ordinary Immortal Sovereign powerhouse!
