Legend of Wyatt
Chapter 3053: Leilany?
Ten thousand miles north of the Poise Immortal Sect’s residence, within a lush, shaded forest, a gaunt middle?aged man in black clothes floated in midair, his feet only about three feet off the ground.
The middle?aged man’s face was deathly pale. He was so emaciated that the cheekbones on his face jutted out, while the flesh around them was completely sunken in; his entire face looked like skin stretched over bone.
Moreover, if one looked carefully, one could discover:
On the chest of the black clothes worn by this middle?aged man, there was a vividly lifelike skull, entirely blood?red.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, the middle?aged man’s brows twitched slightly.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Accompanied by two sounds like howling wind, two figures flew swiftly side by side from the distant depths of the forest, and in the blink of an eye arrived in front of the middle?aged man.
"You’re Bradley Clark?"
The middle?aged man’s gaze landed on the young man among the two, and he asked in a flat tone.
From beginning to end, he did not so much as glance at the other woman beside the young man, as if he completely regarded her as nonexistent.
If an ordinary person ignored her like this, Ruby King would definitely be enraged out of humiliation.
After all, besides being a renowned existence among Poise Immortal Sect’s Inner Sect disciples, she was also the blood granddaughter of the Poise Immortal Sect’s Grand Elder.
Yet, in front of this newcomer, she did not dare put on the slightest airs.
Though this man’s cultivation was far inferior to that of her grandfather, that Grand Elder of Poise Immortal Sect...
His background was something even her grandfather did not dare provoke lightly.
The Blood Skeleton Clan—one of the three most powerful assassin organizations in the South Heaven’s Borderlands, infamous throughout the region. Looking across all the forces in the South Heaven’s Borderlands, perhaps only the ten great clans and five great sects were unafraid of it.
Poise Immortal Sect was merely a grade?seven sect. Although it was attached to Mystic Abyss Mansion, grade?seven sects dependent on a grade?six Immortal Manor were not few within the territory of Mystic Abyss Mansion.
"Yes, Senior... I’m Bradley Clark."
Standing before the middle?aged man, Bradley Clark could clearly feel the killing intent unconsciously emanating from the other’s body. It made his scalp go numb, and he hurriedly answered.
"Who did you contact to place the contract with Blood Skeleton Clan?"
The middle?aged man asked again. This question was obviously to confirm the identity of the person before him, to see whether he was truly the one who had placed the order with their Blood Skeleton Clan.
"Young Master Holland, Lima Holland."
Bradley Clark said.
"You should know the rules, right?"
The middle?aged man gave Bradley Clark a faint glance.
"I know."
Bradley Clark nodded, then turned his head to look at the woman beside him and called out to her, "Ruby King."
"Senior, this is the deposit."
Ruby King raised her hand, and in her palm there was already a vine armor that emitted a verdant green luster.
At first glance, this vine armor looked as though it was woven from strands of green vines that glowed with emerald light, dazzlingly bright and extremely eye?catching.
"That’s right."
The middle?aged man grabbed the vine armor, verified it briefly, then nodded in satisfaction. "A pure defensive King Grade Immortal Artifact that has been nurtured by an Immortal Sovereign powerhouse."
After putting away the vine armor, the middle?aged man looked at Bradley Clark and Ruby King. "If the target leaves your Poise Immortal Sect, remember to notify me immediately... After the mission is completed, I’ll come find you to collect the remaining half of the payment."
Immediately afterwards, the middle?aged man asked the two of them for their Soul Beads, and also gave them his own Soul Bead, so that they could contact each other via messaging Immortal Talismans.
After the Soul Beads were exchanged, the middle?aged man left.
With a single flicker of his figure, he vanished into thin air in front of the two.
Bradley Clark and Ruby King were not surprised by this. No matter what, the other party was still a powerhouse at the One?Essence Immortal King level, and as an assassin of the Blood Skeleton Clan, his strength definitely far surpassed that of ordinary One?Essence Immortal Kings within Mystic Abyss Mansion’s territory.
Not to mention anything else, just the Law Rule Mysteries he had comprehended were not something the average One?Essence Immortal King within Mystic Abyss Mansion’s territory could compare to. Backed by the Blood Skeleton Clan assassin organization, he lacked neither Immortal Methods nor Divine Abilities containing all kinds of Law Rule Mysteries.
"If Wyatt Barnes doesn’t leave the Sect residence, then even if the Blood Skeleton Clan’s assassin comes, it seems he still wouldn’t be able to kill him, right?"
Ruby King looked at Bradley Clark and said, "As far as I know, since he entered the Sect, he hasn’t left the Sect residence. Apart from going to the scripture pavilion once, he’s spent all his time cultivating in his personal courtyard as a personal disciple."
"Wanting him to leave the Sect residence will likely be difficult... And even if there’s a way to lure him out, once he senses anything wrong, he’ll definitely have your master send someone to accompany him when he leaves."
"At that point, even if that Blood Skeleton Clan assassin makes a move, he might not be able to kill him!"
Ruby King voiced her concern.
"Relax."
Hearing Ruby King’s words, Bradley Clark spoke unconcernedly, "He’ll be leaving the Sect residence alone very soon!"
"Why?"
Ruby King asked.
"Secret."
Bradley Clark gave Ruby King a deep look, then, wearing a mysterious smile, stepped into the air and left the forest beneath his feet.
Ruby King followed him out, but her expression was rather ugly.
Bradley Clark actually dared to act mysterious with her?
She was, after all, fronting half the payment for hiring the Blood Skeleton Clan to kill Wyatt Barnes!
...
Three days later.
Within the valley where Poise Immortal Sect’s personal disciples and Inner Sect disciples cultivated.
"Wyatt Barnes!"
A middle?aged man wearing the Inner Sect disciple uniform appeared outside the cultivation courtyard of a personal disciple and called out toward the inside.
Inside the room in the small courtyard, Wyatt Barnes, who had been comprehending the Skimming Mystery within the fire Law Rule, couldn’t help freezing for a moment when he heard the sound coming from outside.
"Someone’s looking for me?"
Perplexed, Wyatt opened the door, walked into the courtyard, and looked toward a middle?aged man standing in midair not far outside the yard.
Just now, it was this middle?aged man calling out to him.
"You need something?"
Wyatt asked.
"Just now, at the very moment I was about to enter the Sect’s residence, I received a voice transmission... and at the same time, the person who sent me the transmission flung a letter from afar into my hand."
As the middle?aged man spoke, he handed Wyatt the letter in his hand.
On the envelope, four large characters were written: "For Wyatt Barnes."
"This way of sending a letter..."
Seeing the envelope, Wyatt frowned. He had ascended to this heavens?level plane, Spiritual Heaven, quite some time ago, yet this was the first time he’d seen someone use such an ancient, primitive method to send a message.
"Did you see who sent you the letter?"
Wyatt asked the middle?aged man.
"Didn’t see."
The middle?aged man shook his head. "The voice transmission was from a man."
"A man?"
Wyatt’s brows knitted. Who could it be?
"Wyatt Barnes, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to my own cultivation courtyard first."
The middle?aged man said.
"Alright, thanks."
Wyatt nodded.
After the middle?aged man left, Wyatt opened the envelope in his hand, took out the folded letter inside, and unfolded the sheet.
The two lines of text on the letter clearly entered his sight.
Swish!
And almost as those two lines on the letter came into view, his expression changed completely.
The first line on the letter only contained two characters:
Leilany.
The second line, however, was quite long:
Ten thousand miles east of the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence, above the grassland lake. Come alone. If I discover anyone following you, not only will you not see me, she will die as well!
"Leilany!"
Ever since Leilany disappeared, Wyatt had constantly been worrying about her whereabouts. Now, seeing such a letter, his heart instantly burned with anxiety.
"Leilany... was taken by someone?"
"And the one sending me this letter wants me to go meet him alone?"
"His goal is clearly not simple..."
"Leilany may not know where I am right now. Even if she did, she absolutely wouldn’t expose my whereabouts... But then how does this person know about Leilany? Is Leilany really with him?"
Although his heart was ablaze with worry, Wyatt did not lose his reason. After taking a deep breath, he calmly pondered.
"No matter whether Leilany is with him or not, no matter what his purpose is, I have to make this trip!"
Even though Leilany might not actually be by the other party’s side, and the other party might simply be using her to achieve some purpose by luring him over...
He didn’t dare gamble on that.
If Leilany truly was with the other party, and he didn’t cooperate, the other party could very well harm her.
"Still, that person insisting I go alone clearly means he’s up to no good. I need to be careful..."
With that thought, Wyatt left the valley where the cultivation courtyards of the true disciples and Inner Sect disciples were located, heading all the way east.
And after Wyatt left, from within one Inner Sect disciple’s cultivation courtyard, a figure stepped out.
"He took the bait."
The owner of the figure was none other than the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s Sect Leader Liam Davidson’s personally taught third disciple, "Bradley Clark."
At this moment, Bradley’s face was adorned with a brilliant smile.
"The Blood Skeleton Clan assassin organization really lives up to being one of the three most powerful assassin organizations in the South Heaven’s Borderlands... I was still worrying about how to get Wyatt Barnes away from the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence, and I didn’t expect them to have a way to lure him out."
"I wonder what method the Blood Skeleton Clan assassin organization used... and I don’t know what was written on that sheet of paper inside the letter."
Although Bradley knew that the Blood Skeleton Clan had a way to lure Wyatt out, he had no idea what method they were actually using.
Three days ago, the reason he was able to so confidently guarantee in front of Ruby King that Wyatt would soon leave the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence was because his commissioned Lima Holland had already greeted him, saying that the Blood Skeleton Clan had a way to entice Wyatt out of the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s grounds.
Moreover, they would make Wyatt obediently leave the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence alone, and Wyatt wouldn’t dare bring anyone along.
"He’s left."
With a flicker in his eyes, Bradley also used a communication Immortal Talisman to inform the assassin dispatched by the Blood Skeleton Clan that Wyatt had left the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence.
At the same time.
"He took the bait?"
About fifty thousand miles east of the Love Rowan Immortal Sect’s residence, within a stone forest, a gaunt, black?clothed middle?aged man sitting cross?legged on a giant boulder suddenly opened his eyes, a strange, wicked smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
