Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny
Chapter 1901 - 977: Frontline (Rescue Under Fire)_2
In that instant, his hands froze, Circle Realm fully opened as he tried to shield the youngest.
The bug's goal had never changed!
The attraction the youngest held for it was even greater than he had imagined!
He didn't even have time to warn him.
Before he could even open his mouth, before he could figure all this out, in less than a second, the bug seemed to have already foreseen the future scene.
The two spheres in front and behind shuddered with a bang and suddenly rammed forward.
And right before Ji Jue's eyes, one of the spheres suddenly unfolded, tearing through the air without the slightest warning—no, more like a hidden bomb abruptly detonating.
This was the third one!
It had split off another!
Ji Jue's vision went black, the Circle Realm instantly Overloaded—countless possibilities collapsed in a flash: failure, failure, failure, failure, failure… after infinite failures, the Circle Realm completely shattered apart.
In the final Overload collapse of the Circle Realm, through the annihilation of countless possibilities, Ji Jue seemed to see—tens of millions of bug limbs, from past, present, and future, stretching toward the youngest.
Yet they stopped right outside the final bit of distance.
Missing by a hair.
"Phew, that was close, almost didn't make it…"
An old voice rang out, still shaken, like an old lady sighing after getting home and realizing she'd missed the supermarket's discounted eggs:
"Sir, could I trouble you to show a little consideration for us old folks."
Ka!
Just as Ji Jue's strange Perception finally dispersed, he finally saw it: a ribbon emitting a faint glow, silently appearing between the youngest and the bug.
Who knew from where it had come, or to where it extended.
The Illusionary Light Silk flickered in and out of sight as it danced, cutting between the two and drawing a chasm-like boundary.
Telling it: this is as far as you go.
You may not advance another step.
The bug roared in fury.
That brief instant of stagnation was enough for it to miss its final chance, and the relentlessly pursuing shadows surged in like a raging tide, seeping into every gap and swallowing it—or them—whole.
And not only the bug.
A ribbon flickering with faint light silently slithered past right before Ji Jue's eyes.
When he turned his head, he realized it was already everywhere! Filling the entire labyrinth and even beyond, binding the entire bug-body that had turned into the station.
Ribbons crisscrossed out from within the bug's body, protruding, dancing, twining, tangling around its limbs and constantly splitting further.
No matter how it struggled, it couldn't break free; instead, it was like sinking into a mire, feet trapped deep.
Soon, countless weightless ribbons seemed to fall in unison.
They looked so light, yet for the bug they were as heavy as mountains.
At once, deafening cracks and collapses resounded non-stop.
Everything that had been forcibly rewound by the twisted time was, under this all-pervasive interference, beaten back to its original form.
In an instant, the station that had originally been completely destroyed by the Self-Destruction of the turning wheel saint finally revealed its true shape.
Riddled with holes!
And amidst the countless wrecks, the bug struggled violently, flickering and howling; with every flicker it could only momentarily shake off a few ribbons, yet even more ribbons continued to coil around it.
Just that slight obstruction was enough for the shadows chasing from behind to surge in like a tide!
That inexplicably appearing ribbon, together with Du Bin, joined forces to completely shackle the bug—which had still had some chance of escape—at this very place and time.
It wasn't just the bug that was stalling for time.
Du Bin was too!
Waiting for reinforcements…
As the two tangled and bound one another, streaks of flowing light descended from the void, locking onto the station's ruins, constantly slicing, sealing, and then, like flaying it alive, disassembling it inch by inch.
Such a vast clamor and upheaval…
These were the Chosen Ones of the Gate of Eternity!
Yet judging by the waves of power coming from all directions, it was impossible to tell how many there were, or imagine how they'd mustered such a force.
There had to be hundreds if not thousands!
Outside of the Star Core Association, could there really be this many Chosen Ones of the Gate of Eternity in the entire current world?
No, this was the Star Core Association!
Including that ubiquitous ribbon—at this moment it was using itself as the chain to link countless Chosen Ones of the Gate of Supreme Goodness into one, suppressing and sealing the entire station.
Ji Jue was left staring, dumbfounded.
So much for their usual slacker image.
Seriously, guys, you actually do work?
Boom!!!
In the middle of the encirclement, the writhing bug let out a short, sharp cry; its three bodies suddenly flickered like frames dropping—and then, they Self-Destructed without hesitation!
Unfortunately, the turbulence they stirred up couldn't break through the shadow and ribbons' blockade, and was completely sealed within.
Only a shrill wail came from the void.
Lingering on and on.
"What a haul."
Countless ribbons slowly drew back, overlapping and merging into a blurry human silhouette, holding in his hand a bunch of "severed limbs" bundled into little balls by ribbons.
"Let's see, twenty to twenty-seven, forty-one to fifty-one, thirty-three, fifty-seven… Seems we've already gouged out a good half of that Cancha bastard bug's past!
Shame a single origin stone still doesn't weigh enough to lure it all out…"
The figure sighed, turning toward Ji Jue and the child sleeping in his arms.
Ji Jue held the youngest, lifted his hand to pull the hood covering his face a bit higher, unmoved, even stepping back a pace.
His heart went weak, scalp tingling.
This guy was a Heavenly People!
And a Heavenly People of the Gate of Eternity at that!
"Hm? And this gentleman is…?"
