Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny
Chapter 1772 - 912: An Eye for an Eye
Deathly silence.
The Federation was established for hundreds of years, East City was established for hundreds of years, East City Bank was established for hundreds of years; in such long spans of time, this ancient building and bank have almost become one with East City, witnessing countless rises and falls and changes, standing in the heart of every East City person like a fossil.
Yet never in these hundreds of years has anyone dared to pull out a weapon here and say such words...
So much so that, in stunned disbelief, everyone found it almost impossible to react.
Even amidst the rumblings, the scattered, fragmented sounds of countless crystals landing; the people in the hall turned around in confusion, hesitating to speak.
Wanting to ask if this was another flash mob or event, or perhaps a drill?
Including the security guards.
In the sudden stillness, the security guards who turned around in confusion also fell into a daze, until everyone noticed behind Ji Jue, the pale-faced teller lady and the heavy handbag in her hand... unable to hold steady, it fell to the ground with a clang.
Out rolled two grenades, rolling wildly on the floor.
Making a clinking sound.
Finally snapping everyone awake from their daze.
The security guard at the door, in the instant he reacted, instinctively reached for his lower back, and next — bang!
He flew backward, crashing into the window, slowly sliding down, chest a bloody mess.
"Don't be afraid, salt bullets, won't kill you... probably."
Ji Jue nodded to the clients in the hall, sincerely advising, "The money is the Governor's, life is your own; everyone should learn from this, don't be like him, okay?"
At that moment, agonized screams and chaotic footsteps finally rang out, belatedly.
Finally, entering into rhythm.
Ji Jue nodded satisfactorily, pulling the trigger again towards the ceiling to create some ambient sound to enhance this slowly unfolding drama.
Behind the counter, the terrified teller frantically touched under the table, crazily pressing the alarm button.
But the button had no response, as if the power was out.
Under the gun's aim, the teller behind the bulletproof glass screamed, curled up, lay on the floor, trying to crawl into the counter, only then to see the electric wire dangling from under the counter...
The cut was sharp.
As if cut by some blade.
She froze in place.
"What the hell is going on?"
In the monitoring room, the guard, who was originally drinking tea, paused in surprise, instinctively leaned closer, dumbfounded and incredulous, reached for his waist — his hand empty, the walkie-talkie!
Where's the walkie-talkie!
Damn it, the walkie-talkie is on the other side of the table...
"Quick, quickly pull the alarm!" he turned back, shouted to his fellow: "Someone's robbing the bank!"
"Huh?"
His fellow with a bearded chin also froze, glanced down at his wristwatch: "Shouldn't be."
"Forget it, stop talking nonsense, quickly pull the alarm!"
The security guard dashed over, picked up the walkie-talkie, repeatedly pressing the talk button, only to find it wouldn't respond, instinctively darting towards the button on the wall, realizing... no matter how he hit it, the button wouldn't make a sound.
Behind him, came a spine-chilling voice: "I meant, it's still two minutes off the scheduled time... did that bastard jump the gun again?"
Bam!
The guard's eyes rolled back, collapsing skyward.
And beside him, the beleaguered worker of the evil organization sighed helplessly, cursed, then bent down to pick up the keychain from the other's waist, pushed the door open, and collided head-on with the security chief rushing in.
The chief paused for a moment, then snarled angrily, "What's happening, why hasn't the alarm gone off?"
"Ah, this, the situation's rather complicated, might be hard to explain clearly." 'Security Guard' sighed and opened the door: "Better to see it yourself…"
In the instant the chief peeked his head out.
Bam!
Now, there's another keychain.
Meanwhile, in the tightly secured machine room, the masked engineer calmly closed his toolbox: "Finished, small problem, resolved."
"Settled?" The guard frowned, his gaze falling between the densely packed cables in the machine room's back panel, puzzled: "What's that USB drive for?"
"Oh, that, nothing important." The engineer calmly pulled a handgun from his pocket, pointed it at him, pulled the trigger.
Bam!
A soft noise, the guard fell to the ground, twitching, convulsing, trying to get up, reaching towards the man before him, but heard a frustrated sigh.
"This employer is all good, but really slow..." The engineer pulled the trigger again, under the tranquilizer gun, the guard moved no more.
As the opponent collapsed completely, atop the heavy server cabinets, among the densely packed green indicators, a crimson speck emerged.
Then, like spreading flames, like an infectious plague, in a flicker, filled everything, enveloped all.
At this moment, all systems of East City Bank went offline!
As gunfire rang through the hall, in the equipment department, the already stationed temporary worker pulled down the lever before him, amidst a series of piercing grinding sounds, in the massive East City Bank, all external windows, compressed roller doors descended one after another.
And at the enormous front door, a yawning security guard slowly stepped out, after placing a "Routine Maintenance, Closed for Business" sign, locked the revolving door from inside, pulled down the curtains.
In less than thirty seconds, the entire bank was completely sealed off, inaccessible.
