Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny
Chapter 1652 - 850: Taking Action
Ten minutes ago, outside the secluded and peaceful club, everything was quiet with strict guards.
Yet, despite the numerous guards constantly patrolling, they still couldn't see the few figures standing in front of the building.
The Illusion Light swirled around them, enveloping them, such that even when brushed past, they remained unseen, and when instinctively making way for the path, they didn't realize what they were actually doing.
The Chosen One of the Mirror system had already erected a barrier, erasing all traces of their existence.
"It's here."
Ling Shuo glanced at the message on his phone, looked toward the boy beside him, awaiting a response.
Xiao An seemed bewildered for a moment, then suddenly realized: "It's my turn to do something, right? Is there anything I should be aware of?"
"...Uh, just be careful?"
Ling Shuo thought long and hard but dared not point out how this person should act, "Anyway, do as you wish, just kill anyone who resists."
"Got it."
Xiao An nodded, smiled, the shy and bewildered look disappeared, as if confident:
"Leave it to me."
"Do you need anyone else's help?" Ling Shuo asked concernedly, "I have some here..."
"Doesn't matter."
An Ran turned back, glanced at the few people following behind him, indifferent: "Just don't get in the way."
For a moment, someone's expression changed among those few people, opened their mouth to speak, but Ling Shuo abruptly turned to look back, his face in the shadow was completely dark, only his eyes cold, blocking the sound from the other's throat.
Shut up.
In brief silence, nobody spoke.
And the boy had already stepped forward, walking ahead like going on a picnic, step by step up the stairs, with a crisp alert sound, the automatic door opened to both sides.
In the lavishly decorated hall, the sleepy receptionist behind the counter raised her head in confusion, saw the boy who appeared out of thin air, stunned for a moment, but beside her came the sound of friction.
Among the many guards in the hall, someone had already reacted first, instinctively pulling a gun barrel, lifting the weapon... then, nothing more.
The boy pressed the sword hilt at his waist with one hand, raised the other hand casually and swung.
Snap of fingers.
The crisp sound echoed in the hall, enveloping death silence, only the continuous breaking sounds sounded endlessly.
Under the projection of Sword Qi, the guards who drew their weapons had already fallen skyward, blood spraying from their throats, coloring the receptionist's stunned face red.
Scarlet and sweet blood flowed down, across the rigid face.
Her expression twitched, staggered backward, the manager beside her instinctively reached for under the counter, opened mouth, screamed hysterically...
Before that, a scarlet blood dot suddenly appeared on her forehead.
Frozen.
A dull sound of falling echoed.
Now, the entire hall only left the receptionist behind the counter.
Watching the boy in the blood stepping forward, stood in front of the counter.
"Hello, where is the person?"
"..."
In brief silence, the receptionist's mouth opened and closed, suppressing the urge to scream, tears slipped from the corner of her eyes, choking, sobbing uncontrollably: "Third... no, fourth, fourth floor, meet... meeting room..."
"Thank you."
Xiao An nodded: "Where's the elevator?"
A trembling finger lifted, pointed toward the right side of the hall.
"Okay, goodbye."
After taking a couple of steps, Xiao An abruptly remembered something, turned back: "Don't run, you'll be killed. Just sit down, it'll be fine to wait a while."
"O-okay..."
With trembling, the receptionist fell to the ground, watching the manager's pale, frozen expression, shivering in fear, sobbing uncontrollably.
Ding—
The elevator arrived, opened, then closed.
Going up.
Rich and sweet fragrance wafted in the air, the melodious violin melody echoed in the elevator, Xiao An lowered his head, fingers tapping on the sword hilt, once, twice, thrice.
"Don't rush." He said, "Very soon."
Li Hen slightly hummed, impatient, ravenous, yet the trace of fierce Qi spilling from the scabbard felt like a loyal dog's tongue, licking the boy's fingertips and palm.
Strangely itchy.
A bit clingy but not annoying, as if a good friend accompanied you, never weak, never fearful, never hesitant, just wanted to be with you, even if facing all formidable foes.
Brother Ji Jue is really good.
The boy's smile reflected on the elevator's smooth mirror-like doors, dazzling and gentle, until the crisp sound rang again, the doors opened from the center, tearing apart the boy's smile.
Outside the elevator, the corridor's crystal chandeliers shone, reflecting the eyes, so dark.
The smoky atmosphere blew in.
The confidants and subordinates various societies brought to the conference now stood densely in the corridor, divided into different groups according to their camps and distances.
In Desert Market, there's no talk of warmth, respect, humility, courtesy, not to mention numerous blood feuds among each other, if it weren't for the internal big shots having a meeting, they might already be fighting outside.
Now in waiting, some smoke, some stare blankly, some chat nonsense, some even giggle with rolled eyes after a needle, each distinct, discarded cigarette butts and spitted betel nut residue and juice littered the floor.
Mutual cold stares, or false smiles, silent confrontation.
Until the crisp sound of the elevator breaking the oppressive atmosphere, and as eyes gazed towards this place, they saw the boy who stepped out of the elevator.
