Chapter 410: Maybe I’m a Fake Protagonist

  • Next Chapter

After extracting every last bit of information, Allen casually sent the surrendering wizard off to meet Merlin.

He had no intention of sparing someone who had just tried to use the Killing Curse on him—especially not when he was in such a foul mood.

A mountain of glittering Galleons... a pile of precious magical materials... all of it—gone in an instant with a BOOM, reduced to nothing but bubbles.

It hurts... it really hurts...

This was the most infuriating thing about dealing with wizards! After clearing a "dungeon," forget about looting anything—just a bit of preparation on the enemy’s side, and all potential spoils could vanish into thin air.

He would rather the enemy be ten times stronger than have them destroy their valuable stockpile like that.

This is downright inhumane behavior!

There wasn’t even any need for salvage work. Wizards all knew what was valuable—and whatever got destroyed was guaranteed to be the good stuff.

Damn it! This script makes no sense!

Wasn’t it supposed to be: sneak in while the enemy is weak, get rich, then get chased down after causing trouble?!

This is completely wrong!

Still unwilling to accept reality, Allen dragged Annie into the barely functioning magical array. Looking at the completely collapsed complex, he shrugged.

"So... should we head back now?"

Even as he spoke, the magic circle beneath his feet began to glow. Annie followed along—based on the information they had gathered, continuing their "tour" was clearly no longer an option.

A wilderness that wizards considered magical, and that Muggles instinctively avoided most of the time—it was the perfect base.

Even better, it existed in plain sight. No one would suspect a thing.

This was what they called hiding in the light.

Anyone capable of thinking of such a setup—and actually using it—was undeniably talented. Especially someone who could gather so many dark wizards.

Naturally, such an organization needed a guiding principle. Whether it was for Galleons or for "purifying" the wizarding world, no one was charging copyright fees—so they had to make something up.

And their doctrine...

...was to completely destroy the school.

That school—the one that had abandoned most of them.

If that sounded too serious, then simply put:

A bunch of expelled underachievers, mixed with a group of former beneficiaries who felt betrayed by the school, had joined forces.

Taking advantage of the grand event involving the three schools, they planned to create an even bigger spectacle—

By blowing the school up.

It was... a rather "ambitious" and "constructive" idea.

With the support of many traditional and pure-blood wizards who already disliked the school, the plan had actually gained traction.

As for why this base was so empty—it was because anyone capable had already been sent off to carry out the attack.

And the plan wasn’t entirely impossible.

The school had been built atop a volcanic crater. Though protected by countless layers of magic, once the volcano was successfully triggered—

A massive firework was guaranteed to erupt.

According to that nameless wizard, they weren’t acting alone. A large group of like-minded individuals who believed the school had become rotten had joined in.

Their plan was meticulous:

An incident in Britain would force Dumbledore to return to Hogwarts personally.

The headmaster of Ilvermorny would also be lured away under a similar pretext.

And their own headmistress would be summoned urgently by the Ministry of Magic.

While all three were drawn away...

That rotten school would explode into a brilliant display.

When Allen heard this, he almost wanted to applaud.

At first, he had thought these people weren’t qualified to be villains.

What a joke.

If these guys aren’t qualified, then who is?!

Year after year of accumulating funds.

Drafting plans.

Recruiting manpower.

Studying the school’s weaknesses while the rest of the wizarding world celebrated.

Forming alliances with other dark forces—even extending their reach internationally, negotiating interests, and making agreements.

Then, after completing all of that, they seized the perfect moment—using every resource at their disposal.

They even defied expectations by acting before the finals instead of during them—executing everything flawlessly.

If they weren’t villains... then who was?

A truly "inspiring" story of rebellious brats blowing up a school—

...Too bad it was meaningless.

They understood nothing about true power.

Their target was far too ambitious—they had even tried to scheme against Dumbledore.

And according to Allen’s professor... Dumbledore was already prepared.

Though the words were spoken casually, the implication was clear—

Two generations of Dark Lords had already fallen to him.

You think he protects justice just because no one can beat him?

Even so, Allen couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy.

Because there was an insider.

The club he had previously joined... was one of them.

At Hogwarts, one of the founders had left behind a Chamber of Secrets, hoping future generations would one day purge impure bloodlines.

Here, one of the founders had done something similar—

To prevent the school from ever being captured and used by enemies, they had built a hidden chamber within the volcano itself.

If the school fell, it would take the enemy down with it.

Perfectly reasonable.

This secret had been passed down only among successive headmasters, as a last resort.

And unfortunately—

That "key" had been obtained.

Recently, the school’s greatest secret had been uncovered... and quickly passed along to their backers.

"Well... great wizards tend to be a bit unhinged. Nothing new," Allen muttered, shrugging as he waited for the teleportation to activate.

With a flash of light, he arrived at a transfer point near Mount Fuji.

After a few minutes of waiting, they used Floo Powder to return directly to the school.

Everything... seemed intact.

At least, it hadn’t exploded yet. Otherwise, they’d already be activating full shields and evacuating people.

As for escaping? Not necessary.

It was just lava—Tibbers could probably bathe in it for fun.

And flying debris? That wasn’t a problem for Allen either.

"Alright, next step... report to the professor. Arrange arrests—or maybe rescues."

"Probably...?"

Allen froze.

His gaze landed on a group of captured wizards—stripped of their wands and bound midair with cloth restraints. They were still cursing loudly.

Among the wizards escorting them... his professor was unmistakably present.

"Allen? Back so soon?"

The professor calmly directed a strip of cloth to gag one of the shouting prisoners, looking completely at ease.

"Heard something, did you?"

"Didn’t I tell you yesterday? There’s nothing to worry about."

"All the dark wizards who came to cause trouble have already been captured. The mechanism they tried to activate was dismantled by the three headmasters."

"That chamber? Completely sealed now."

"As for their leader—Headmaster Dumbledore knocked him out and is interrogating him with Veritaserum."

"The tournament is still ongoing. If you hurry, you might even catch the rest of it."

As he spoke, the professor gestured toward the competition grounds—his meaning crystal clear:

Go play nicely. Leave the adults’ matters to the adults.

Allen stood there in silence.

...Yeah.

I might really be a fake protagonist.
