Chapter 2786: Chapter 2786: Corpses

Julius Reed knew better than anyone what Evil Qi was.

Back then, the Dragon King Ring inside him had been filled with Evil Qi.

And every time Julius Reed borrowed the power of Evil Qi, he would lose himself, turn vicious and bloodthirsty!

He would lose his kindness.

Murderous intent would directly seize his body!

As for controlling Evil Qi, Julius Reed was already a master.

Yet now, he was actually seeing Evil Qi again.

Evil Qi was different from other things; it only appeared in piles of corpses, in fields littered with bodies and bones.

Ordinary dead people didn’t have Evil Qi!

And Julius Reed could feel his Dragon King Ring on his hand starting to stir restlessly.

The dragon’s eyes flashed with black-red light.

Compared to the Evil Qi inside the Dragon King Ring, the Evil Qi here was far too concentrated.

Julius Reed reached out his hand, letting that Evil Qi begin to pour into his body.

He absorbed the Evil Qi bit by bit.

The Dragon King Ring sent waves of stabbing pain.

Suddenly, strange images appeared in Julius Reed’s mind.

All of them were people who had died miserably, accompanied by wails and screams!

Resentment, fury!

Bleakness, and eeriness!

"Something’s wrong!" Julius Reed shot to his feet.

He knew about Evil Qi, but how could Evil Qi produce hallucinations?

If Evil Qi could produce hallucinations, it could only mean that this Evil Qi was too pure!

Purity meant that everyone who’d died here had been experts!

And top-tier experts at that!

It was just like brewing liquor: if you wanted to brew a high-purity fine wine, the raw materials were crucial.

And the dead were the raw materials of Evil Qi!

Julius Reed drew in a deep breath and began to call upon the power within his body.

The crown flickered in and out of sight, and a surge of immense power was poured into the Nine Provinces Authority King Sword!

Julius Reed drove it down with all his might!

He stabbed the sword directly into the mountain’s fault line!

Boom!

With a muffled roar, the earth quaked and the mountain shook.

In an instant, Boulevard Mountain seemed to turn into a massive earthquake!

The surrounding snow broke loose one after another.

A great avalanche erupted in a heartbeat.

The entire Boulevard Mountain fell into utter chaos.

Julius Reed didn’t pull the sword out, but kept driving it deeper!

The blade sank into Boulevard Mountain bit by bit, and the crack widened and widened!

Julius Reed stood on the summit, like a tiny ant.

Yet he was prying open an entire Boulevard Mountain!

"Open!"

Julius Reed roared, the power in his body pushed to the absolute limit!

"Open!"

He shouted again!

The mountain collapsed in an instant!

Rumbling.

It all turned into fragments.

Julius Reed plunged down!

He fell to the foot of the mountain.

When he saw the scene before him, he was completely stunned.

All in front of him were corpses!

Nothing but piles of the dead!

Lying every which way!

Because Boulevard Mountain was freezing cold, the corpses hadn’t rotted.

Instead, they were preserved frighteningly well!

What shocked Julius Reed even more!

Every one of these people had a wound on their forehead!

Exactly the same kind of wound as Rian Harris!

Only their wounds had shattered the skull entirely; inside their heads, there was nothing!

All of it was empty!

Rian Harris had merely been gravely injured; his life was still clinging on!

"How can it be like this!" Julius Reed was utterly dumbfounded.

He had never seen such a bizarre scene.

Gloom he could accept; as a monster who’d lived for who knew how many years, he’d seen far, far too many dead people!

Scenes of hundreds of thousands dying on battlefields were only grand, tragic!

Bleak!

They made one grieve and be moved.

But now, even though there were only a few hundred corpses, they made Julius Reed feel a chill in his very bones!

He even felt cold.

This cold was a natural reaction of the soul, and also a natural reaction of the flesh.

As strong as Julius Reed was, he was still human.

It was just that he had pushed many things to the human limit!

And even surpassed that limit.

Humans felt fear; humans knew terror!

It was just that the threshold for Julius Reed to feel fear was very high!

There had never been anything that could make him afraid.

But today!

He truly felt fear!

He saw that all the corpses in front of him bore no signs of resistance!

There wasn’t even the slightest wound on their bodies.

Their cause of death was all because an extra hole had appeared between their brows!

Which had led to their brains being sucked dry!

That naturally included their Telekinesis and Spiritual Power!

"Who the hell was it! What the hell happened!" Standing here, Julius Reed, for the first time, felt lost, felt panic!

He clutched his head with both hands, completely dazed.

All his previous calm, his previous train of thought, in that instant, completely collapsed!

All of it scattered!

He no longer knew what he should do.

He just stood there, blankly staring at everything around him, staring at those who had died!

The way they died was bizarre.

Suddenly, Julius Reed caught sight of a familiar face!

Emperor Cloud Harris!

He walked over, continuing to rummage.

He even saw the few people who had previously died by his own hand!

Aside from the North Palace King and Saul King, nearly everyone was here!

Buzz!

A chill shot up Julius Reed’s spine, and his scalp started to prickle!

He stood there like an idiot, not knowing what to do.

Now he understood why he was like this.

The reason was that these dead people were top-tier Emperor Realm experts.

About the same as himself.

Call it empathy.

Julius Reed could feel their unwillingness!

Their hatred!

But who was it!

Who had slaughtered these Emperor Realm masters while they slept!

And what exactly were those Emperor Realm "experts" outside?

"No!"

Julius Reed clutched his head and staggered back.

He felt pain and struggle!

And bewilderment!

His worldview felt as if it had completely collapsed in that moment.

The crown was a trap.

It was something those with greed used to select a single person and enslave humanity.

The seemingly glorious and brilliant Nine Provinces King was just a puppet!

The crown itself was a trap!

A conspiracy!

Julius Reed felt it now.

But what about the corpses in front of him?

What about these people?

Even top-tier Emperor Realm experts were fake; what could still be real?

All these people chasing the crown were those who had never obtained it.

Without a crown meant they had not yet been enslaved.

They all still had their own minds, their own control.

Their own clear thoughts.

Those Nine Provinces Kings who had been enslaved had long since vanished.

Yet these people searching for the crown had all died beneath Boulevard Mountain!

And had even given rise to such intense Evil Qi!

The pain, the unease, the doubt made Julius Reed completely at a loss.

Suddenly!

He sensed danger!

Julius Reed twisted to the side!

A streak of white light shot past!

"Who’s there!" Julius Reed raised his sword, staring at the shadow in front of him.

"Who we are, who you are—does it matter?" The residual shadow formed by Telekinesis slowly turned around.

"All who still live must die! It’s you, you killed us!"

As that Telekinesis spoke, it suddenly erupted with power, carried by Evil Qi as it rushed to kill Julius Reed!

"Stop!" Julius Reed surged his strength!

Boom!

Spiritual Power exploded from his palm, forcing that Telekinesis back.

"Don’t fight! I don’t want to hurt you." For some reason, Julius Reed actually felt a trace of reluctance now.
