Chapter 965  Do Not Tempt the Balance

Kyran was forced to stop his leg motion again when he saw a ball of concentrated magic energy forming on the palm of the unwanted visitor’s extended hand about to touch his leg. Because of this, his body twisted at a humanly impossible angle. Nevertheless, he did not have any problem readjusting his center of gravity as he shifted and somersaulted sideways to dodge the unwanted visitor’s hand. After that, he landed on all fours and continued to backflip several times to gain a safe distance from the unwanted visitor.

For the record, there was no solid ground around them, and Kyran’s inability to levitate would have disadvantaged him. However, he could appear as if he was flying so long as he could utilize his magic sense and aimed at controlling his footgear.

Utilizing his magic sense would have been close to impossible in Somuli unless he made use of the Void’s theory to connect the magic energy source from the Human plane there. But since he was already outside Somuli, he no longer had to worry about the lack of magic energy because there was an abundance there. This allowed him to use his magic sense to his heart’s content, allowing him to have a firm footing.

“Hm…”

After watching his target’s movement, the Emperor could not help but let out a low, dissatisfied grunt.

“Are you really a part dragon? Or part monkey?” he asked with a scowl.

It was true that dragons in human form could move very agilely, but because of their unbelievable raw strength, their agility had been overlooked most of the time. Nonetheless, The Emperor found his target’s agility too abnormal because even if dragons could change into human form, their original bodies were different at the end of the day. Considering this fact, it would mean their body movement proficiency would be limited in human form.

But that did not seem to be the case with this lesser dragon. In fact, The Emperor felt the vibe from this lesser dragon resembled a genuine human more… or, as he noted, a monkey.

Kyran ignored the man as he caught sight of Nachum, who seemed frozen on the spot. Because of his high proficiency in magic energy control, he could see the telltale signs of Nachum being restrained by the man’s magic energy alone.

Kyran wanted to release Nachum from the man’s restraints and had him retreat to Somuli. However, he was mulling over how much he should reveal because it was one thing to expose his Draconic magic and another if he also exposed his Void magic.

At the moment, the only way for Kyran to release Nachum from the man’s restraints was his Void magic.

Draconic magic was not good in subtle attacks and nullification of another mage’s control over magic energy. It was better used for pure destruction rather than covet magic attacks.

‘Then…’ The pupils of Kyran’s eyes turned into slits as he activated 30% of his Draconic magic. They glowed silver as he let his raw Draconic magic energy erupt from his body.

The Emperor’s scowl deepened as he watched his target’s rising magic energy. An eruption of magic like that would have already made every mage within the vicinity sense his aura and presence. However, he did not sense any of those. This would probably be the proof he needed to confirm his suspicion that the latter truly possessed the Heart of the Cosmos.

Unfortunately, rather than feeling happy about it, The Emperor felt conflicted about it to be honest. This was because few were aware of what the appearance of the Heart of the Cosmos entailed— no. Rather than what would happen if it appeared, he was far more concerned by the fact that it appeared while being owned by a mere lesser dragon.

Before The Emperor could dwell on his thoughts, his target disappeared, only to appear slightly above him, with his left fist raised, about to strike him on the head.

“Humph,” The Emperor snorted as he leisurely raised his hand to meet his target’s fist.

The Emperor was not underestimating Kyran, to be honest. It was just that the former had fought in a war with far stronger members of the Dragon Clan before that he did not even feel threatened by Kyran’s sudden surge of power. Besides that, The Emperor believed that Kyran was only a lesser dragon. It did not matter how much of his dragon blood he could utilize. At the end of the day, The Emperor believed Kyran was only a half-assed dragon that could use Dragon magic. If the latter could use Draconic magic, then that would be a different story.

Alas, The Emperor’s own prejudice over Kyran’s identity would probably be his undoing— or not.

BOOM!

The mere contact between The Emperor’s hand and Kyran’s fist caused a shockwave to spread out with them at the center.

Kyran’s brow furrowed as he realized that The Emperor could easily counter the force coming from the pure, raw Draconic magic energy on his fist. Although he was only using 30% of his Draconic magic, since The Emperor’s counter appeared to have been done effortlessly, it appeared to be a testament to his strength.

The Emperor clamped his hand over his target’s balled fist as magic energy formed around it. His plan was to attack with a concentrated magic attack at point blank to ensure he would not miss.

Kyran more or less guessed what The Emperor wanted to do. Thus, he immediately yanked his fist free.

But.

“Ngh—!”

Just as the command to free his hand from The Emperor’s grasp registered in Kyran’s mind, a blinding light that came from the latter unleashing a concentrated magic energy attack exploded and sent Kyran reeling in shock.

BOOM!

Nachum’s eyes widened as he watched the blinding light engulf both the unwanted visitor and Kyran, which was then followed by a massive explosion.

“M-Mutual destruction?” he exclaimed, believing that the unwanted visitor intended to destroy himself along with Kyran.

“Such a move would only be used by weaklings.”

A voice from within the explosion sounded as if to refute Nachum’s claims. It was then followed by a figure flying out from the cloud of smoke that resulted from the explosion. The figure was covered in a trail of smoke and appeared battered.

Before the figure could move too far, another emerged from the smoke cloud and went after it. The second figure was covered in blinding golden rays, allowing Nachum to recognize it as their unwanted visitor.

Which meant the first figure that appeared battered was none other than Kyran!

This realization shocked Nachum. But his shock was not so much that he would be rendered hopeless. Instead, the scene of Kyran being thrown back brought Nachum a newfound strength to regain control over himself.

He is Somuli’s Sovereign. If there were any mages that appeared inside or outside Somuli, whether they intended to kidnap, enslave his people, or only want to keep them in check until they completed what they came there for, Nachum would not allow anyone to bully his people.

Nachum clenched his teeth as he tried to reestablish his connection with his Divine Armament. It seemed to have sensed its owner’s will and appeared to be affected by the latter’s intent. It shook uncontrollably as if wanting to break free from the unseen shackles around it.

Meanwhile, The Emperor noticed Nachum struggling but did not pay any attention to it. To him, the latter’s attempts were futile and did not require him to make a move at that moment. Besides, his priority was to secure his target.

In a flash, The Emperor was already behind his target, with one hand reaching out to touch the back of the latter’s head.

However, it was at that moment that Kyran twisted his body to face The Emperor directly. His hands were covered with silver light and seemed to have changed into dragon claws. After that, he interlocked his dragon-clawed fingers over The Emperor’s hand.

Kyran’s plan was simple. Since The Emperor could easily counter his magic attacks, he would opt for a physical one. He reckoned that the latter’s magical defenses were pretty good and wanted to see how he faired with his physical defenses. If The Emperor ended up possessing a similarly powerful physical defense, then the only way for him to deal with the latter was to increase his Draconic magic’s usage further.

Compared to using magic attacks with Draconic magic, Kyran was far more experienced in using Draconic magic as a supportive buff and enhancing his own physical strength.

The Emperor’s eyes narrowed just before his target succeeded in interlocking his fingers over his own and immediately unleashed several golden rays that flew out in all directions, piercing everything it touched.

Kyran was no exception. The moment some of the rays penetrated through his armor’s magic defenses, he felt a piercing and stinging pain pierce through his skin and into his body. He inwardly groaned in pain but simply gritted his teeth to prevent himself from crying out.

The last thing he wanted was to show The Emperor’s attack was effective against him.

“Did you think I would allow you to attack with physical ones? Deus already gave detailed information about your physical prowess,” The Emperor said derisively. “To be honest, you are far too weak than I expected. But that did not matter. You being weaker than expected meant that my chances of reclaiming what was rightfully mine would be better—.”

“Do not tempt the balance between the two Realms, The Emperor.”

Suddenly, a voice reverberated in the surroundings.

“Stay your hand.”
