Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 837 Nescii

Chapter 837 Nescii

FOOOM

Suddenly, the surrounding sounds disappeared as a semi-translucent veil spread around Kyran, isolating him and the person before him.

The owner of the voice wore a long robe, and his or her face was hidden underneath its over-sized hood. Kyran could not determine the person’s gender because it sounded like a woman, but might also be a young man. It was pretty much the same with Light’s voice, although the latter had a deeper tone while the person in front sounded lighter. 𝔬𝗏𝓁xt.𝒸𝑜𝓂

“You seemed confident,” the hooded person remarked with a slight tilt of its head. “Others who entered Isolation always panicked. Ah right, I should not say always now that there is one exception.”

Kyran disliked talkative enemies and would have loved to make this one shut up. Unfortunately, the Isolation mentioned by the hooded person restricted his movement.

As if sensing Kyran’s attempt at move, the hooded person raised its hand and a long silver and gold scepter with an uneven diamond hovering above its tip. It waved the scepter and in an instant, Kyran sensed the restrictions in his body was removed.

“I am sorry. I had to restrict your movement until I confirmed your stength is-.”

Kyran moved as soon as the restrictions were removed and aimed a roundhouse kick toward the hooded person.

Bam!

Kyran’s eyes widened as his shin hit the scepter’s shaft.

The hooded person casually raised ita scepter to block Kyran’s attack!

“Oh, please do not bother. Physical attacks are not that-.”

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Kyran ignored the hooded person’s chatter and continued to attack with his leg or fist. However, no matter what he did, the hooded person managed to deflect his attack with its scepter.

‘How?’ Kyran thought in utter disbelief. Although his physical attacks were not as powerful as he wanted them to be because he could not circulate any Draconic magic to enhance his attacks and movements, his body had undergone tremendous change because of the Elixir. His bones were fortified to an unbelievable level, which was how his normal punches weighed far too much than what his seemingly small stature could produce. But though his bones were fortified, his weight remained unchanged. This was all made possible with the changes the Elixir had done to his body.

Still, the hooded person easily deflected his attack with a casual lift of his scepter.

How was it possible?

The hooded person did not exude any magic energy while intercepting Kyran’s attack, so it was not using any defensive magic or spell to support its body or even the scepter. Could it be that the scepter alone could withstand the impacts from Kyran’s attack?

How was that possible?

Kyran was not given a chance to ponder because at that moment the hooded person raised its free hand. With its pointing finger lifted upward, an invisible force enveloped Kyran.

Unable to defend against the invisible force, Kyran was thrown upward in a blink of an eye. After reaching a certain height he then plummeted back to the ground.

Kyran tried to move his body and avoid crashing into the ground. However, the speed at which he plummeted was too fast not even his fast reaction or instinct was helpful.

Kyran crashlanded, creating a human-shaped crater on the ground.

‘Ugh!’ Kyran endured the pain and stopped himself from coughing out blood. As much as possible he wanted to show he was unaffected.

“Hmm So, that level of impact does not affect you even without any magic enhancements on your body. As expected of someone who could fight a horde of beasts alone,” the hooded person commented aloud. “What if I do this?”

Before Kyran could recover his bearing, the invisible force lifted him once more. But this time, instead of sending him upward, he was thrown back. He slammed into several trees, but his momentum did not slow down. It was as if the invisible force refused to slow down and forcefully slam him into those trees and boulders.

Kyran noticed that as he slammed on the trees and boulders, there was no sound. Moreover, the trees and boulders that he thought got crashed from the collision remained intact! His eyes widened as he saw the boulder he had just slammed in to looked fine. But that should not have been possible. The impact was there. The pain he felt from the collision was there. Those trees and boulders could not have been illusions, right?

‘Illusion, no. Could this be?’ Kyran gritted his teeth and tried his best to observe his surroundings.

When the hooded person arrived, Kyran sensed a veil of some sort covering his surroundings. Could that veil be a trigger of some sort after the hooded person released its domain?

“Hmm still no reaction. Then” The hooded person pointed its pointing finger to its left.

Kyran’s trajectory suddenly changed, and he collided with the wall of a nearby valley.

“Guah!”

This time around, no matter how much Kyran endured the pain, the trauma of having his body slammed into several trees, boulders, and finally, the side of a valley reached its limit. He spat out a mouthful of blood as his body lodged on the wall. Cracks formed on the valley’s wall, and it crumbled down along with him.

Kyran got buried in the rubble, but though he felt and even saw the wall crumbling down on him, the next moment, the valley appeared intact. And the rubbles that fell on him disappeared.

What happened appeared like an illusion, but Kyran was positive that the impact and trauma he felt was no illusion. Besides, though he could not circulate the Draconic magic, his Void magic was unaffected. If he ended up falling into an illusion, the Void would have reacted and protected him. As for why he fell under Deception’s illusion before, that was because her illusion was triggered by physical means. It was triggered by her mist after one inhaled them. It might sound contradictory because mist had no physical form per se. But if her mist could be compared to the invisible force the hooded person employed, the former could be considered physical in the sense that it could still be seen by the naked eye. Unless Kyran covered himself in a thin layer of Void magic, he would not be able to defend against Deception’s illusion.

But guarding himself against Deception’s illusion was unimportant right now. He had to figure out if the hooded person cast an illusion or if its magic was an entirely different, even unconventional, type.

“So that level of impact could force a reaction. I might say your natural physical ability is truly impressive. If I have to make a comparison, it is very similar to a newly hatched dragon.

“But if that is the case, there is no way for you to transform into a human. How then are you able to turn into one?”

Kyran, who pretended to be having difficulty getting up but was actually sorting his thoughts and coming up with a way to deal with the hooded person, stopped short.

He fought the urge to touch his face to confirm that the face-altering mask was there. Because he was certain he had it on. The Shaiha concealed his aura and presence, so if this hooded person was one of the Sovereign representatives who witnessed the appearance of the silver humanoid dragon, it should not have been able to connect them.

Kyran’s mind raced as he tried to recall all details he have on every Sovereign. But no matter how much information he recalled, he could not find anyone that fit the hooded person. The lack of recollection was more with the fact that he himself was unsure what kind of magic the hooded person possessed. He could only make guesses, and even then, he failed to recall any Sovereign possessing such magic.

“I think I have tested your natural physical ability enough.”

The hooded person snapped its finger, and in an instant, Kyran appeared before it.

Kyran’s eyes widened in disbelief. Just now, the hooded person appeared to have teleported him. But it also appeared as if time wound back, bringing him back to his initial position before getting thrown around.

Both were impossible, however, as the hooded person did not seem to have cast magic when it snapped its fingers.

“No need to look surprised,” the hooded person told Kyran upon seeing his expression.

Kyran’s brow twitched slightly. He did not mean his surprise to show in his face, but apparently, he was that surprised to keep his expression in check.

“Or did you not notice you’re already inside my Dimension?”

‘Dimension?’

The hooded person tilted its head, seemingly at a loss at the confusion reflected in Kyran’s eyes. “Your expression just now tells me you have no idea what I am saying are you not from #$*. The filter is on, meaning I am in the presence of someone who is not in the know.

“Alas, we have made a mistake. To think someone who got hold of the Heart of the Cosmos is a nescii.”
