Chapter 817 Oppression (2)
Nahir, Gidan, and the rest of the Eidums were surprised to see Kyran. The former two’s reaction could be explained by the fact they knew Kyran had a different role in today’s battle. He was supposed to intercept Achim’s group at their border’s weakest spot. No matter how strong Kyran was, it was impossible for that side’s battle to conclude so fast.
During their initial deliberation, they concluded that Achim’s group would not start their attack until after the one on the main battlefield was well underway. For this reason, Kyran left ahead of time to get there before Achim’s group arrived.
In the end, the confrontation on the main battlefield started earlier than anticipated, prompting Nahir to proceed with their plan ahead of time. It did not affect their overall plan, though. The only change that happened was how long it would take them to fight the main force until Kyran settled the one with Achim’s group.
Of course, Nahir was not expecting Kyran to settle the problem on both battlefields. He knew they could handle the situation on the main battlefield as long as the Armakea commander did not release the three magical beasts right at the start.
Unfortunately, things did not happen the way Nahir expected.
The Armakea force on the main battlefield was dispatched right from the start, forcing Nahir to alter the plan a little. With the three magical beasts participating at the onset of the battle, he was forced to focus on weakening them first.
But that was not the main point now.
In Nahir’s opinion, if the main battle started ahead of time, he believed that Achim’s group also arrived early and had already begun their attack. Whether Kyran arrived on time or not, there was a good chance that Achim’s group had already gained the upper hand.
From this, Nahir was convinced Kyran could not return at their estimated time. Because he believed dealing with a situation where the enemy had taken the lead was not something a single person could easily resolve, no matter how strong he was.
Gidan shared the same sentiments.
For argument’s sake, if Kyran did manage to defeat Achim’s group in a short time. It would still take him another hour, or half an hour if they put into consideration his maximum speed, to return to the main battlefield.
Considering all this, Nahir and Gidan were really surprised at Kyran’s arrival.
As for the rest who did not know Kyran’s task, they were surprised simply because he appeared different than usual.
It was not because the way he carried himself was different. Instead, it was his clothes that caught their attention.
Kyran was not wearing his usual black clothes but a full dark purple armor. Only half of his head was covered, though, and he was not holding a helmet to cover the rest. Thus, they believed his armor was meant to look that way. He also held two swords, the blades divided by two colors. One side of the blade was dark blue, and the other half was dark purple.
“Why are you here?” Gidan could not help but blurt out. He initially wanted to ask what happened to his task but remembered the rest of the Eidums did not know about it.๐ธ๐๐ณxt.๐ธ๐ฌ๐
“Group up in teams and assign at least three healers each,” Kyran ignored Gidan’s question and told Nahir without looking at him.
Nahir frowned at being ordered around in front of the others. But he did not say anything and looked at Kyran’s back.
“I’ll pave a path you guys follow after I secure their commander,” Kyran continued.
“The real commander here is that woman in red armor,” Nahir told Kyran.
“I know.”
Without waiting for Nahir to say more, Kyran jumped down from the top of the wall to the ground. As he did, the edges covering half of his face seemed to come to life, extending upward to cover his whole head.
“H-His armor is made from lost technology, right?”
The one who had blurted this was Soria, standing quite close to where Nahir and Gidan were.
As soon as the others heard her, they felt in awe. They did not even question if what she said was true or not. To them, possessing such a rare lost technology was unsurprising for Kyran. It was not because they already knew he was knowledgeable about Array but more about how they perceived him as full of secrets.
Gidan’s eyes widened after hearing Soria. Honestly, he did not notice Kyran’s armor and simply thought his current attire was his ‘ serious mode.’ He never considered the armor to be a lost technology.
On the other hand, Nahir narrowed his eyes. Unlike the others, he was already aware of Kyran’s Array knowledge. But unlike Soria, he did not think the armor the latter wore was created with Array. Instead, he felt it was alive.
Their initial awe at Kyran possessing an armor-type lost technology was short-lived in the scene that unfolded before them.
When Kyran approached the beast-filled battlefield, they saw them stop and make way for him. The beasts did not bow to him or anything. It was more like they saw him as a walking plague and did not want to be near him.
The horde’s reaction was different from the first time. The horde swarmed Kyran that time, wanting to take a piece of him. This time, they wanted to stay far away from him.
Nearby beast-likes and complete beings fighting the beasts noticed their strange behavior and could not help but look up. When they saw someone in full dark purple armor walking toward them, they felt a chill run up their spines.
Like most planes who knew about the Death Reaper, they envisioned it to carry a huge black scytheโ not two dark blades. However, looking at the approaching figure, they could not shake the feeling that they were looking at a Death Reaper.
No.
He could very well be Death himself!
Kyran did not know what the low-ranked Armakean officers thought of him. He was not even interested. To him, they were already as good as dead.
The two swords in his hand disappeared, and a flash of dark blue and purple lights illuminated the crowd up front.
SPLATTER!
Following the illumination of these lights, several heads flew up in the air, and blood gushed out from the necks of the severed bodies like fountains.
“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!”
“Death! The Death Reaper has arrived!”
“Run! Retreat to the borders!”
Frightened screams mingled with the rest of the battlefield’s noise.
Nahir, Gidan, and the other Eidums who kept looking at Kyran were dumbfounded. They did not even see him move before several heads of the Armakea officers filled the air.
Kyran raised his hands and grabbed the two swords that completed their initial circulation after releasing them. He shrugged the blood that stained the sword’s blades and continued forward.
With fresh blood dying on the battlefield, beasts would usually go into a frenzy. Surprisingly, none of them lost their mind. They even retreated further to the side and avoid the smell of blood.
Meanwhile, Kesiah, Gaham, and the rest of the high-ranking officers and knights that were engaged in battle with the three magical beasts and the rest of the horde in the middle of the battlefield, already noticed something was amiss after seeing surviving low-ranked officers run frantically back to their side.
Kesiah sent out another punch toward the Basilisk.
HIIISSS!
The Basilisk let out a painful hiss as the beam that came out with Kesiah’s punch managed to scratch his side. He noticed that the more Kesiah fought, her energy-filled punches also grew stronger. Her speed seemed to have increased as well.
Or could it be that it was his speed that started to decline?
Regardless, the Basilisk was aware that the boost of energy they received from their master had long disappeared after he left.
No.
Their master had not really left. It was just that his energy seemed to have changed.
Why?
Because the Basilisk got distracted after sensing a change in their master’s energy, Kesiah managed to land another hit to his torso.
HIIISSS!
This time, Kesiah did not punch but kicked. Her leg, covered with energy, struck the Basilisk’s torso and successfully destroyed a large chunk of his scales.
Kesiah ignored the commotion around her and took this chance to shower the Basilisk with a rain of kicks and punches. In seconds, the Basilisk was riddled with several fatal injuries.
The Basilisk arched his back and whipped his tail at Kesiah, forcing her to retreat.
But Kesiah ignored his tail attack. She raised her arm and guarded against the Basilisk’s tail. Then, she punched a hole right at it using her other arm.
HIIIIISSSS!
Dark green blood spluttered out of the Basilisk’s pierced tail. Still, he endured the pain and tried to snap Kesiah’s head.
But Kesiah seemed to have expected his reaction and jumped out of the way. She then raised her right leg and performed a dropkick, boring her soles at the top of the Basilisk’s head.
The force of her kick carried such weight that the Basilisk feared his scales were not enough to stop her from piercing a hole at the top of his head and killing him.
