Chapter 764 Not Mine (2)
The three Eidums watching from above the steel walls were dumbfounded. It had only been about half an hour since the ‘being’ with dark hair jumped down the walls and confronted the horde. Now he was facing the magical beast and not losing out to it even with the latter’s advantage in size.
That was not quite right. Saying the magical beast had the advantage in size was no longer valid with how easily the ‘being’ was cutting through its body.
Still, even after leaving so many cuts on the magical beast and making it bleed profusely, it did not seem like it was about to fall.
Since the Eidums noticed this, Kyran did too.
The problem was his weapons were not long enough. It might be called ‘long’ daggers, but the additional length could only scrape through the magical beast’s thick skin. It was bleeding profusely only because Kyran aimed at the areas where its veins were located. Even if he only scraped the surface of those veins, it was enough to cause it to bleed.
Nevertheless, Kyran had to consider the magical beast’s healing ability. Thus, he moved faster than it could heal itself.
RAAAAAAWRGH!
The magical beast let out an angry roar. It was then followed by a sudden surge of magic waves erupting from its body.
Because Kyran was in close proximity, he suffered the brunt of the surge magic and was forced back.
‘Ngh…!’ Kyran ground his teeth and endured the heatwave that enveloped him as he was swept along the magic waves.
Before he could regain his balance and find an opportunity to land, the magical beast’s eyes flashed, and then it growled. Its hand shot forward at an impossible speed, grabbing him while he was still airborne.
‘Urgh…!’ Kyran winced as he felt his bones creak in protest after the magical beast’s huge hand tightened around his body.
This surprised him because after his body got enhanced from drinking the Elixir, he rarely felt physical pain. The only times he remembered feeling intense pain were when he intentionally lowered his defences or when he fought his father’s essence.
Right, he also suffered in Nolan’s ‘training.’
Still, when he fought his father’s essence and Nolan, he could not rouse his Draconic magic. He did not even know he had it back then. But that was not the point.
The point was he was circulating Draconic magic and still felt physical pain. This was a testament to the magical beast’s raw strength.
Or maybe, its strength had already been amplified after it released a surge of magic waves.
Regardless, Kyran had to up his game if he truly wanted to kill the magical beast.
Kyran’s silver eyes flashed as he forcefully twisted his body and arms to cut the magical beast’s fingers.
RAAAWRGH!
The magical beast roared in pain, its hold loosening for a fraction.
But that was enough. With that small opening, Kyran squeezed out of the magical beast’s grasp. However, he did not move down but up.
Then he dashed up the magical beast’s forearm, digging his long daggers into it as he did.
‘Let’s risk it,’ he thought as his eyes changed to reddish-purple.
When he dug the long daggers into the magical beast’s forearm, he was already replacing them with Void weapons.𝓞𝗏𝓵xt.𝓒𝞸𝑚
RAAAWRGH!
The magical beast roared as it sensed something strange from the wound it received. Earlier, it could still heal. But now, it failed to close the open cuts. Not to mention, the cuts it received were deeper compared to earlier.
Kyran did not stop to check what annoyed the magical beast this time. He already knew it was due to the wounds it received. After all, compared to earlier, where it ended up bleeding profusely, there was no blood coming out from the cuts.
Unfortunately for it, Kyran was now using Void Short Blades to cut its flesh. Thus, its healing was now rendered useless. It could not even bleed properly. How could its blood clot and close its wounds?
Sizzle! Sizzle! Crackle!
Kyran’s Void weapons crackled as he cut the magical beast’s skin.
Annoyed, the magical beast slapped the part of his body where it sensed Kyran. But apart from injuring itself, it failed even to graze him.
Sensing something was amiss, some beasts nearby jumped and tried to grab Kyran when they saw his shadow moving about the magical beast’s body.
However, when they tried to do this, they only hurt the magical beast further.
RAAAWRGH!
The magical beast let out another round of magic waves as if trying to shake Kyran off its body as it did earlier.
But Kyran was prepared this time. Although there was no telltale when the magical beast would release that magic wave, he expected it would be soon. It was easy to guess because he noticed it had a short fuse. And when it got angry, it would roar and intimidate others using its intense magic waves.
Kyran jumped and landed on top of another beast’s head— one of which was among those who wanted to help the magical beast.
Since the beast was relatively small compared to the magical beast— since the latter was practically a giant high orc— Kyran only required one swift stroke to cut its head.
Blood gushed out from the beast’s severed head, and before it landed on the ground, Kyran jumped to the next beast.
The magical beast growled in anger and tried to grab Kyran again.
But like with the magical waves, Kyran was already prepared. To be precise, he had gotten used to the magical beast’s speed.
Kyran’s momentum increased by the second, and in only a few minutes, he had already beheaded the beasts intending to help the magical beast.
The latter actually had a hand in it. As it tried to grab Kyran, it ended up smashing the heads of the beasts close to it.
<Report.>
A voice called for the Eidums above the walls.
<How is the situation outside?>
Realizing that the one who had called asking for a report was not the messenger from earlier but actually Azikh, one of the Eidums immediately responded.
“T-The magical beast is near death.”
Azikh and Gidan, who were now standing with the messenger and a few abled fighters, were dumbfounded after hearing the response.
“Are you sure it is the magical beast? Not a beast that looked like a magical beast?” Gidan asked, still in disbelief.
<Yes, commander. We are sure.>
Gidan would have found fault in Kyran if only one of the three answered Azikh’s question. However, all three responded with such conviction he and Azikh could not help but look at each other. Their eyes reflected that of doubt. At the same time, they were in awe.
Both agreed inwardly when Kyran told them they did not believe the Abbot sent him because they did not know what he could do. They trusted the Abbot, but how could they confirm Kyran’s identity if he was abducted? Kyran’s appearance was already questionable.
But hearing the report from the Eidums, could the Abbot have known Kyran could fight a magical beast all on his own?
Wait.
That was not entirely correct.
Kyran was not only facing a magical beast alone. He was facing a horde of beasts, along with a magical beast.
BAM!
Raaaaawrgh!
Azikh and Gidan were forced out of their thoughts after hearing a loud, dull sound. A faint roar followed it, and then a tremor that shook the ground.
All of them recognized the roar belonged to the magical beast. Though it was faint, they could still sense the magic waves that came with it.
“D-Did he already… the magical beast….”
It was unknown who had said it, but this made Azikh and Gidan look at each other. Both of them had complicated expressions.
<The beast horde… they are retreating!>
Azikh looked up, his hand tightened around the communication device as he asked, “Are you sure? Just now, that roar… was that the magical beast?”
<Y-Yes. T-That… whoever that guy is… he successfully cut off the magical beast’s arms, and then… it dropped to its knees— unmoving. W-Wait! The horde is not retreating. They are swarming that guy!>
“Open the gates!”
Everyone froze as they heard a voice they did not normally hear, sounding full of fear yet authoritative.
Azikh and Gidan paled as they turned to look at the person who had ordered the gates to be opened.
The one who had shouted in a panic-stricken voice was a woman.
To be precise.
She is the Saint.
However, something was different from this Saint from the one Kyran met in the receiving room. She was only recognized as the Saint because her robes bore the same design as that Saint, which was similar to the Abbot’s, albeit had a feminine touch.
“L-Lady Saint…” Azikh almost choked after seeing her rush toward the gates.
Behind her, surprisingly, was the ‘Saint’ that Kyran met and Yalen, who looked as if she had seen a ghost at how pale she looked.
“Open the gates, now!”
“No,” Gidan immediately stopped her and pleadingly said, “The horde is still outside until we are sure it is clear—.”
“Open them, please, Gidan,” the woman pleaded.
Gidan tried to look away from the woman’s eyes. However, her mirror-like eyes were like magnets he could not pull away from.
