Chapter 573 Descent (5)
There were still questions that puzzled Kyran regarding the Chaos Era. He initially thought his questions would be answered after meeting Zephyr. In the end, he ended up with more questions after the latter shared what he knew.
Most of Kyran’s questions were answered after entering the Shaiha temple. But there were still key events that did not make sense to him.
Then there was Mannickโ or, to be precise, Azaloth’s essence. After discovering the latter’s identity, they had yet to sit down and talk about things from the past. Thus, Kyran was still left to mull over his questions alone.
Although there was True Void, Kyran could not rely on him to tell him the truth. If not for the appearance of the Macabre Glacier, True Void would not even tell him how Caelan got the name ‘Dark Sage.’ Nevertheless, Kyran still believed there was more to the story than inheriting the title from the mage who owned the Macabre Glacier behind Caelan’s title.๐๐ฃ๐ xt.๐๐๐
Kyran had wanted to return to the Chaos Palace and see if he could trigger another event where he could speak with Caelan in his sea of consciousness. But the latter said they could only meet because Kyran met certain conditions. As for the conditions, Kyran had a few ideas, and none were good. After all, they all had something to do with making his magic cores go haywire and putting himself on the brink of death.
Kyran eyed Osric, hovering outside the water cage. If the latter told the truth about being a member of the Boyd Family’s first generation, could Raya extract his memories and find the truth?
Fortunately, Osric could not read minds. If he did and he read through Kyran’s musings, he would have been KO’d because his blood pressure would have shot up to an unbelievable level.
Osric’s light blue eyes turned cold as he looked at Kyran. Even after being trapped inside a water cage, the latter remained indifferent. If this had been earlier, Osric would have applauded Kyran’s ability to stay calm regardless of the situation. But after discovering he was underestimating him, Kyran’s indifference only served to infuriate Osric further.
“You are still too young,” Osric said loud enough for Kyran to hear. “You don’t even see death when you are already staring at him.”
“I could say the same to you,” Kyran replied with a slight smile.
“Impertinent!” Osric glowered at his response.
Osric roused his magic in an instant, and his light blue eyes flashed with killing intent.
The magic fluctuations around him intensified as he raised his staff. The sapphire-blue magic stone that formed the sea serpent’s eyes glowed, and a massive torrent of water materialized and circled above and below the cage.
In an instant, the air around Kyran thinned as the rotating torrent of water inside the cage increased.
“Even if you possess Void magic, if you cannot rouse your magic energy, it is impossible to do anything!” Osric said. “My Water cage has the ability to block other magic energies apart from Water magic. After that, it can increase the magic output of any water attack inside.”
“Thanks for telling me,” Kyran said, still wearing a slight smile.
Good thing Osric could not see the smile on Kyran’s face. If he did, he might have already vomited blood from anger.
“But I don’t plan to use my magic….”
Osric sneered at Kyran, “If you think your body is enough to withstand the pressure of my water, then you are dead wrong.”
“… because there is no need.”
Before Osric could understand what Kyran meant, he sensed something fast approaching him from behind. Without looking back, he waved his staff, and a three-meter thick and five-meter high wall made of water appeared around him.
WHOOSH!
A deep blue flash pierced through the wall of water and went straight to Osric’s back.
Alarmed, Osric turned and whirled his robe. Just as the deep blue flash pierced through him, he turned into water that seeped into the ground.
The flash that came at Osric did not stop. It continued toward the water cage and pierced through it.
BOOM!
The water cage, along with the deluge of water magic, erupted in an instant, turning into something akin to water droplets that scattered in the air.
“Master, please accept my sincere apology for not protecting you properly,” Tritus flew back, his hand raised as the ‘deep blue flash’ returned to him.
Now that the flash no longer spun crazily, it revealed its form as Tritus’s trident.
Kyran gave Tritus an odd look when he knelt on one knee before him.
“Can you not? Focus on the enemy,” he told him.
“Yes, masterโ.”
Before Tritus could finish what he saying, small sea serpents erupted from below, their jaws wide open as they snapped at him.
Tritus immediately whirled his trident horizontally around him, slicing through the sea serpents’ heads. The trident gave off a beautiful deep blue glow as water seeped out from its shaft, forming water-like afterimages as he whirled it about.
Kyran raised his brows in surprise. It had only been a week or two since he last saw Tritus and the latter’s aura seemed to have improved greatly. Then again, Tritus’s improvement might also be due to the Sigil taking effect. Either way, as long as Tritus was within Kyran’s range, he could share some of his abilities with him.
For example, his monstrous healing ability and senses.
The water drops that had yet to dissipate completely converged above, revealing a silhouette of a man.
“Leave the rest to me, master. And do what you need to do,” Tritus said. Without giving the silhouette to form completely, Tritus had already moved. He made a mad dash toward the converging water while whirling the trident above his head. A sea serpent formed around the trident, except its color was bluish-green rather than the bluish-white that Osric used.
The bluish-green sea serpent roared as it shot out from the trident and flew toward the silhouette.
Obviously, the silhouette was Osric, who was reforming after turning himself into water to escape.
Even with him still in a state of reforming, Osric circled his hands before him, summoning another torrent of water magic around him. He raised his hands, and the torrent of water magic that formed around him erupted, turning into a massive whirlpool.
Contrary to what others might expect, when the bluish-green sea serpent collided with the whirlpool, it did not explode. Instead, it entered the whirlpool and swam inside.
Tritus deftly whirled the trident in his hand and summoned several water spears that flew toward the whirlpool.
However, like the bluish-green sea serpent, the spears did not erupt. They also entered the whirlpool and seemed to glide within.
Kyran narrowed his eyes after realizing what Tritus was trying to do. He could not help but smile wryly and thought, ‘This guy is really something. In order to advance, he learned some spells that could easily raise the ire of conservative mages.’
Just as he thought this, the area that the bluish-green sea serpent had passed through had already adopted its color. It was the same with the path that the spears were traversing. The whirlpool that Osric had summoned had the same bluish-white color, but now it was slowly turning bluish-green.
By then, Osric had finished reforming and had already noticed something was amiss. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the man in full-body golden armor whirling a trident levitating a few meters before him.
The man’s face was covered, but Osric had already guessed his identity. Besides, only one person in the empire possessed the same magic as him, who also happened to possess gold armor and a trident.
Tritus, the commander of the Templar Code.
“To think that the Templar Code’s commander has already sided with the Regis Clan,” Osric said disdainfully. “You have hidden your cards well.”
His words were obviously directed at Kyran.
However, Kyran ignored him and only walked toward the middle of the fiery ball.
That was right.
He walked.
As much as Kyran wanted to act cool and fly away while the two battled it out, he did not know how to fly, much less levitate in the air. He could only do something similar if he controlled a shape-shifting plate attached to the heels of his shoes with his magic sense.
Unfortunately, True Void did not allow him to take two small plates with him, saying that his pitiful self would look even smaller with two missing plates.
In any case, Kyran did not come here to waste time with Osric. His main purpose was to remove the fiery ball.
Seeing Kyran leave without even glancing at him, Osric flared up.
Osric already knew that Tritus was trying to contaminate his water magic with his own. To the conservative types of mages, a move like that was very despicable. However, Osric believed it was a very effective move, especially between two fighting mages with the same attribute.
‘But,’ Osric’s eyes narrowed as his magic aura increased again. ‘Did you think I will let you do as you please?’
