Chapter 517 Blitz: Crisis (6)
Even without Kyran’s warning, Euan was already extremely confused. The people Kyran spoke of sounded familiar but at the same time, unfamiliar. Thus, he was left confused.
Anyhow, Euan could still keep a straight face after hearing their discussion. However, he was not in favor of Kyran’s plan to stay and face the army alone.
While it was true that Kyran managed to break through the west flank singlehandedly, it should be noted that the soldiers stationed there had low mage levels. As much as Euan did not want to demean the might of the army, he was aware of Kyran’s combat skills. It was easy for him to overwhelm all the low-ranked officers. But that might not be the case once the high-ranked and more experienced officers of the army joined the fray.
Euan knew that Lira and they were only figuring out his exact location before launching a surprise attack. Apart from this, if they wanted Mannick and his men to retreat safely, sacrifices were still inevitable. To minimize this, Euan planned to use himself and bait Lira’s side.
With this in mind, Euan looked at them, his eyes glowed with determination. He said, “To ensure Mannick and his men can retreat with minimum sacrifices, I will stay. I am their target. Once they know my whereabouts, they will focus most of their offensive mages on me.”
Kyran and Mannick could not help but look at each other. Euan had a point. However, sacrifices were not needed. Kyran could warp all of them with no problem. He might have problem warping non-living objects, but for some reason, he did not have that much problem when warping living things.
Without answering Euan, Kyran looked at Mannick, “I guess I could use some help in drawing their attention. At most I can warp five thousand people at once,” he paused and did a quick calculation in his head before continuing, “I’ll need to do that at least ten times given your number.”
The moment Kyran said the word ‘warp,’ Euan’s brow twitched slightly.
That was right. Kyran’s magic was Void magic and one of the reasons why it was feared by many was its ‘warping’ powers.
Mannick nodded, “My men are about to change formation. The ones in the forefront are already weary and are heavily injured so it is best to have them leave first.”
Kyran nodded, “Okay. We’ll do that.” He hesitated for a moment before turning to Euan and said, “I actually have my own plan in getting their attention away from this place but what you said is right. Although I can divert most of their attention, they will probably only use cannon fodders to deal with me. If you really don’t mind risking your life, I can take you with me.”
“I am the emperor, why would I mind risking my life for my people?” Euan said in a dignified manner. He then added, “My words may sound contradicting given how I am about to dispose some but it is something I have to bear.”
Kyran did not say anything and only nodded. He understood Euan’s position. Being an emperor was a really a troublesome occupation, which was why Kyran never wanted to be one. To be honest, although his father would eventually become the next Regis Patriarch, Kyran had no plans in succeeding him. He was happy to support his father in the background and build connections with people who he could trust and ask assistance.
Kyran subconciously looked at Mannick when he thought this and sighed inwardly. It was a pity that he could not ask Mannick’s full assistance. Though the latter had said that he caused this situation because he said too much in a joking manner, Kyran knew the severity of what he did.
If Mannick did not say anything to Euan, then the latter would have been in Noser by now and was trying to deal with Zephyr. Lira would not have made a drastic move that could very well cause a three-way war.
In any case, Kyran still had to stall for time. He could not draw too much attention in the Regis Estate until his father succeeded in taking Azaloth’s Inheritance. It was a pity that he could not directly ask Mannick to just give the inheritance to his father. It was not because he believed Mannick would not be able to do so, but that he was positive Mannick would not mind. But when that happened, something more scary than Lira making a drastic move against the emperor might happen.
“We need to discuss your plan and make adjustments,” Euan said, breaking Kyran’s train of thought.
Kyran raised his brows. He looked at him and repeated, “Make adjustments?”
“You said you have a plan to divert their attention. Tell me, if we coordinate our moves we can gain more time for Mannick and his men’s retreat.”
Kyran immediately shook his head, “We don’t have to. Although I said I have a plan, its not as grand as you think it is.”
Euan frowned slightly, “What do you meanβ?”
Before Kyran could answer, Rivka appeared again and hurriedly said, “Deputy Marshal, we have an emergency in the west flank!”
Euan and Mannick looked at Rivka at once. As for Kyran, he immediately wore his mask and covered his face before looking. There was no need to expose his identity to all of Mannick’s men.
“Lt. General Bo and Lt. General Esme has appeared and is currently leading several Master level soldiers toward the center of our formation.”
The three exchanged glances.
Kyran sighed inwardly. He did not think their enemies would make a move too soon. Although he knew that his action of only killing their side would not go unnotice, he initially believed they would first try to probe the situation instead of sending a high-ranked officer.
“Bo and Esme,” Mannick’s brow furrowed. “Those two are peak Grand Masters. There are even news that Esme is already half a step to becoming an Exalted.”
“We have to deal with them as soon as possible,” Euan said. “If not, your men will not be able to hold.”
“What are those two good at?” Kyran asked them.
“Bo is a combat mage, specializing in Flaming Fist magic, while Esme is a rare Ice mage,” Mannick explained. “One loves destruction, while the other one is good in large area attack.”
Euan sighed inwardly. It seemed he had to make a move now. Frankly, after becoming a Magus, his body had not fully adapted to the overwhelming magic energy. Even now, he could only use magic pressure to overwhelm others. If he tried to use his magic, there was a chance he would not be able to control it and would end up harming others. He did not mind unleashing his magic when he was within the enemy’s line, though.

Meanwhile, True Void shook his head inwardly as he commented.
[Fire and Ice. It is not a good combination, but when faced together, they can be very devastating.]
‘The fact that they are not a good combination is the reason why they can be devastating,’ Kyran corrected him.
“I’ll go.”
“I’ll handle them.”
Euan and Kyran said at the same time. The two could not help but glance at each other.
Before Euan could insist, Kyran said, “I can deal with them more efficiently than you.”
Rivka, who had been silently awaiting for orders, could not help but blinked at the man incredulously. As a person who rarely get agitated or show emotions, he applaud the man’s bravery of saying those words in front of the emperor.
Euan always had a very high tolerance with arrogant people, not to mention he knew how to handle them. But for some reasons, he had no way of refuting Kyran because his arrogance was not empty words but was born from his self confidence.
Mannick cleared his throat and said with a smile, “Why don’t I go instead? I am more than enough to handle them.”
Kyran frowned as he looked at him, “You already created this situation. Are you planning to make it worse by meddling again?”
Rivka’s complexion paled after hearing the man’s impertinent tone. He had seen plenty of impertinent people talk that way to their leader and all of them ended up not talking for good
Shoving these thoughts to the back of his head, Rivka reminded them with great urgency, “Pardon me, but our situation is dire. The west flank has already regrouped, however, most of our men are exhausted and injured. Please approve the change of formation.”
The three exchanged glances before looking at Rivka.
Rivka was right. Now was not the time to argue who should intercept the two.
On the other hand, True Void could not help but sneer. Rivka failed to see that the real reason these three could still argue was because they did not think Bo and Esme posed a threat.
As a matter of fact, Kyran could easily deal with them with a wave of his hand. Unfortunately, he could not use his Void magic and could only deal with them using his Regis techniques.
“Have your men retreat,” Kyran told Mannick. “I’ll deal withβ.”
Kyran stopped short as he sensed his communication device heat up. His eyes widened as soon as he read the contents using his magic sense.
