Chapter 282: Why The Crown Princess Had Come

Chapter 282: Why The Crown Princess Had Come

Stella looked at Kyran and wanted to say something, but, upon seeing the look in his eyes, decided to keep it to herself.

She was not entirely clueless as to why he might be acting like this. From all the new information the Conclave had gathered these past few days, plus the Queen of Faes' warning, she could more or less make her own speculations of who was coming to the tower.

Turning her attention back to the real-time projection of the army's magic detector in Starhorn City still hovering above the table, she saw a few reddish-purple dots moving at a steady but alarming speed toward the direction of the Tower of Conclave.

"I did not expect for them to come today," Stella muttered under her breath.

They already anticipated the army doing an early inspection. But this was way too early.

The truth was the Conclave still had some contingency plans in place in situations like this. They were not entirely helpless.  Though the destroyed defensive array might be something hard to explain, they could still come up with an excuse which in turn would explain why the other council members were there.

There was no need to hide them. Besides, the army probably already knew some of the Conclave council members were here.

With a sigh, Stella looked at Kyran and said, "Since it has already come to this, I'll activate the tower's large-scale Time Magic Array and—."

"There's no need for that," Kyran told her while shaking his head. "Activating such an array without the tower's defensive array in place will only attract the attention of others. They might not recognize what kind of magic it is, but the fact that the Conclave has a trump card like that on top of having two Magus's, will definitely attract trouble."

When Kyran said others, Stella already knew whom he meant. It was not the army or the Royal Family, but those factions that were also keeping an eye on them. As for having two Magus's among their ranks, it was true that Hugh had an illness but he was still a Magus.

"I know you guys have your own way of dealing with situations such as this. Believe me, I want nothing more than let you guys deal with it by yourselves," Kyran continued. "But knowing there's a small chance they will be able to recognize my trace from the tower's damaged defensive array, I can't stay still."

Nolan leaned back and crossed his arms across his chest. Others would probably not notice how Kyran subtly revealed who were coming, but he did. Who else would be able to recognize his trace but those people who already made contact with him?

'Come to think of it, the kid did not kill that woman,' Nolan thought and inwardly sighed as he recalled the co-creator of the Four-colored Ruin Array. Now Kyran had to face the consequence of his decision back then.

Stella was able to take the hint and did not argue. However, she still disapprove of Kyran taking everything on his own again.

Sensing Stella's reluctance, Kyran changed the subject and pointed at one of the tokens he gave her.

"Give that token to Chairman Hugh," he said and did not provide further explanation. Then he looked at Stella straight in the eye that even with the gravity of their situation, the latter could not help but turn red.

"Last, make sure to keep out of sight."

This instantly rouse Stella's ire. All her life, she had done nothing but keeping out of sight. Having someone tell her that, even if that someone was Kyran, did not sit well with her.

"I am the Lord of the Tower, why should I do that in my own territory?"

"Have you shown yourself when the army does their inspections?" Kyran asked patiently.

Stella frown slightly and replied, "Well, no. But—."

"Keep it that way."

"Keep— Kyran!"

Kyran looked at Nolan who was looking at them with an annoying smirk on his face. He could almost guess what Nolan was thinking and could only sigh inwardly. Even as an essence, this uncle still loved to melodramatize what he sees. But Kyran chose to ignore it, else Nolan might start spouting nonsense which would fluster Stella.

Without saying anything and only giving Nolan a meaningful look, Kyran warped out.

"Wait! We are not done here!" Stella shouted. However, Kyran was already gone even before she could finish what she was saying.

As soon as Kyran left, the real-time projection of the army's magic detector on the table also vanished.

In that exact moment, four women sat inside the middle carriage that was fast approaching the Tower of Conclave.

One of the woman was in her mid-twenties with lush reddish-brown hair and emerald green eyes in a green army uniform. She was one of the first auras that Kyran had recognized when he had used his magic sense to probe the incoming carriages.

The woman was none other than, Vera.

Sitting next to Vera was a woman Kyran had become familiar too that day. She was wearing a light blue dress, and had short blonde hair with olive green eyes. The woman was Mimi and across her, sat Millie, who was also wearing a light blue dress.

As for the fourth one, the truth, Kyran also felt a sense of familiarity with her aura. But there was also something different that he could not put his finger on.

The woman, looked young, however, she was also the most beautiful. She wore a white long gown, with intricate golden linings and a matching golden crown. Her wavy long light brown hair hang loosely on her shoulders, and her sapphire blue eyes glowed as if somehow a light was shining upon them.

She was the Ylfaen Empire's Crown Princess, Haylee.

"Your Highness, you really need not come with us. It is almost nightfall and the forest going to the Tower of Conclave might be dangerous," Mimi was saying.

Haylee looked at her and smiled. A smile that could instantly melt the heart of anyone who sees it.

"I trust my royal guards," she replied.

At her words, Vera immediately lowered her head.

To be honest, she had yet to fully understand how she ended up escorting the Crown Princess to the Starhorn City.

A few days ago, they suddenly had an order to pull out from the Regis Estate. Vera was disgruntled at the order because they had not established any contact from their people who managed to enter the Inner Walls yet. If they pulled out and their people was able to find a way to send out a communication, how could they respond at once.

Unfortunately, no matter what Vera told Jax, the latter could only relay the orders.

Regarding the matter of the Regis Clan, Vera only knew that another team had taken over. She remembered Jax looking very disappointed when the order had been given. Even Luka looked grim.

Vera could understand, after all, the issue to pull out was not made by the Grand Marshal but the Emperor himself. Though she did not fully understand the intricate relationship among the higher ups, Vera knew at least that the Emperor never meddled with the affairs of the Royal Army anymore. For him to suddenly step forward and took over came as a shock to all of them.

However, this also caused a lot of questions to fill Vera's mind. She was aware that the Grand Marshal was trying to keep the matter about the Regis a secret to avoid mass panic, and while the Emperor had not announce it, the fact that the Royal Family was now involved, Vera believed it would only be a matter of time before the public knew about the Regis. Especially, Kyran Regis.

Apart from this, the Grand Marshal's decision to employ mercenaries to look for Kyran had been revealed.

It was one of the reasons the Emperor had specifically let the Crown Princess attend the monthly inspection of the Royal Army to the Conclave of the East. The Emperor wanted her to investigate how much the Conclave knew about the matter with the Regis Clan.

As for the Crown Princess, after she had read through all the reports submitted by the Mercenary Hall regarding Kyran Regis, she had wanted to meet the first mercenary who had reported seeing him.

After finding out that the mercenary who submitted a report was actually the disciple of Chairman Noir, Tyr, the Crown Princess initially wanted to come to the Blacksmith Order to meet with Chairman Noir and then have him summon Tyr.

Unfortunately, Chairman Noir had been staying in the Tower of Conclave lately, and thus, the Crown Princess had decided to go there.

They first planned to go to the Tower of Conclave tomorrow, but then Mimi, the ward assigned by the Courtenay Family to accompany the Crown Princess, had told the latter what happened in the Blacksmith Order.

The Crown Princess's interest was piqued after hearing Mimi's story about Tyr and could not wait for tomorrow to meet him. She immediately commanded to summon Tyr in the Courtenay residence.

But Mimi had told her that Tyr had left the order even before they did, and none of them knew where he went or when he would return.

In the end, the Crown Princess decided to go to the Tower of Conclave as soon as possible and have Chairman Noir, call for Tyr.

"Uhm… your Highness," Millie, who was sat beside the Haylee suddenly spoke.

Surprisingly, she was not as excited to see Disciple Tyr again. For some reasons, she felt afraid to have the Crown Princess meet him.

Haylee looked at her, "Yes?"

Millie instantly averted her eyes. She really had a hard time looking into Haylee's eyes. It felt as if she could easily look into a person's soul just by a single glance.

"I-Is it really necessary to do all this just to meet Disciple Tyr?" She asked with her head lowered.

The Courtenay Family were not aware of the real reason behind the Crown Princess's visit to Starhorn. Officially, they only knew that she wanted to request Chairman Noir to create a magic weapon for her now that her magic level had just broken through to a higher level.

Mimi looked at her sister and sighed inwardly. She could already guess Millie's concern had something to do with her growing admiration for the young man.

Haylee tilted her head to one side as she studied Millie's face. Then she giggled while covering her mouth with one hand, "I am not going there to meet Disciple Tyr, Ms. Millie. I am there to find Chairman Noir. But since I am also interested to meet Tyr, then it wouldn't hurt to ask Chairman Noir to summon him. Of course, if it was not possible then I won't insist."

Millie's expression seemed to brighten after hearing Haylee's words.

However.

"But… I admit, I have taken quite a bit of interest in him from Ms. Mimi's story," Haylee said as her eyes glinted while looking at Millie. "Maybe I can ask Chairman Noir to take him with me back to the palace."

Millie stopped short, as soon as she heard Haylee's words. After a few seconds, she slowly lifted her gaze to look at her. This time, she dared to look into Haylee's eyes.

Haylee simply smiled back.

To Millie however, Haylee's smile was not reflected in her eyes.. Instead, her sapphire blue eyes pierced coldly at her.
