Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 239: Do You Wish To Proceed?

Chapter 239: Do You Wish To Proceed?

The three rewards Kyran chose were one of the purple slips, the purple with gold accents hammer, and the black and purple book. These three were the items that made his Void core tremble. But he did not choose them just for this reason.

He might not know what the purple slip he chose contained, but he felt that it had Void knowledge his predecessor might not possess. Apart from this, unlike the other two slips, it was the only one with a slight golden glow.

Then there was the hammer. Kyran believed his Void core trembled not because of his predecessor's experience resonating with it but because of his own experience. He knew his predecessor had a different specialty different from him. They both learned Array Creation, but Kyran did not focus only on one branch of Array, which was the Array Formation. He wanted to learn Array Forging, which branched out in magic weapon or item crafting and enhancements.

For this reason, Kyran would need the right hammer to forge his weapon because even a powerful magic hammer could not create a weapon that complimented his magic. It was true the rod or long staff could solve his problem of not having a magic weapon, but both were not his weapon of choice.

He did consider learning more magic attacks with a long-range and large area of effect, but that did not mean he would stop doing what he was best at close combat.

Last was the book. It was not similar to the slips that contained Void knowledge. Kyran was sure of this. Like the ring, rod, staff, and hammer, the book was a magic item. He was still uncertain about how to use it, but he could always learn.

Kyran did not choose any of the magic scrolls because he knew using them required an enormous price. Aside from this, it was one-time use only. He decided not to waste his reward for a consumable item.

Kyran's reason for not choosing the ring was pretty simple. He knew it was a storage ring, which probably utilizes void space. But he already had a pouch, and it was not an ordinary one.

Looking at all the rewards presented before him, Kyran realized that one way or another, it represented most of the things he did or needed while he was in training. The slips because of his lack of Void knowledge. The scrolls would have been helpful for him when he fought the Sovereign of Ruin. The ring because he lacked space storage. The hammer because of his lack of a proper hammer when he crafted his weapons. And the rest because he lacked a weapon or magic item.

This realization further piqued Kyran's curiosity about who created the tower.

How the tower worked was really complex.

"You have chosen the following rewards, one of the Ancient Teaching of Void Magic, the Void Tool, and the Grimoire of Nothingness. Accept your rewards," the overlapping voices said.

After they had spoken, the gold chest that projected the three items, opened and a blinding gold light erupted from the inside. The tree items emerged from the inside with a faint purple and gold glow and slowly flew toward Kyran.

While the three items went to his side, the remaining gold chests disappeared in a similar blinding light.

Kyran held out his good arm and took the three items. First, he took the Grimoire of Nothingness which was thicker compared to its projection and had too profound-looking Void runes in its cover. The Void Tool and the slip landed with a soft thud on top of the grimoire.

Before Kyran could take a better look at the three, the overlapping voices spoke again.

"Now, for your spoils."

Kyran raised his brows as he looked at the gold tablet before him. The overlapping voices were not speaking from inside the tablet, but he looked at the tablet just because he did not want to wander his eyes.

Anyway, he was surprised that he still had some spoils. But what kind of spoils did he acquire?

"All items you acquired during your training will be given to you. This includes all the items you have created and branded as yours."

The gold tablet before him emitted a gold light, and a few seconds later, all the items he created in the Lignum plane appeared on the floor.

"This…."

Kyran was speechless. All the weapons he had crafted, even the tool belt and makeshift bag, were there.

But what caught Kyran's eye was the miniature armor with these items.

"True Void!"

Cold sweat trickled down his back as black lines appeared on his head. No wonder he did not see him. True Void had been tagged as his 'spoils' after using the shape-shifting plates as his temporary body.

"Void Halfling! Buhuhuhu!"

True Void's deep voice exclaimed in despair while he dashed at Kyran and wrapped his miniature armored arms around his head.

"I just got out, and you planned on abandoning me?" True Void complained while crying crocodile tears.

The black lines on Kyran's head doubled as he pulled True Void off his face.

"You know perfectly well I didn't do it on purpose," he said, feeling somewhat embarrassed at True Void's display of grief, especially when he kept on making 'buhuhu' sounds in such a 'manly' voice.

"Now that you have received your spoils let us proceed."

The overlapping voices spoke, breaking the cringy display of True Void.

Kyran looked at the gold tablet again and sighed in his heart. If he had to be honest, he wanted to rest for a bit. He also wanted to tend on his broken arm, which seemed to be healing at a very slow-paced even when he had already activated the Draconic magic's healing ability.

There was also the case of his bloody and filthy appearance. Some parts of his clothes were tattered because the restorative enhancement on his clothes had been damaged.

"Do you wish to proceed?" The overlapping voices asked after a short pause.

"Of course he does!" True Void answered on Kyran's behalf.

"Oi!" Kyran looked at him in exasperation. He felt that True Void had warmed up to him too fast to the point he was now trying to decide for him!

"Do you wish to proceed?" The overlapping voices asked again, ignoring True Void.

"Oi!" True Void complained, clearly annoyed at being ignored. It was evident at how the eye sockets of the miniature armor had turned sharp and also glowed in reddish-purple.

"Can I rest and change first?" Kyran asked uncertainly. Then he rephrased his words after recalling that he did not have a change of clothes nor a potion or pill to help him recover fast. "On second thought, I only need a few minutes to rest."

Even before Kyran finished his sentence, a golden door appeared two meters away on the right side of the gold tablet.

The golden door stood there as if invisible walls were supporting it. Complex rune writings were written around its edges, giving off a faint glow.

"You may enter the Recovery Room through that door," the overlapping voices told him.

'Recovery Room?' Kyran thought in surprise. He heard a similar room from Gustaff, but he remembered this room was only offered on higher floors.

"As for your rewards and spoils, please take it with you."

All the items before Kyran, including True Void, lit up.

"Wait! Wait! Stop!" True Void said just before the light covered him, and he disappeared in the blink of an eye with the rest of the items.

Before Kyran could react, a gold ring appeared before him, replacing all the disappeared items.

"The storage ring can be used inside the tower. Please make sure to return it before exiting," the overlapping voices told Kyran.

Kyran's brow twitched. He did not expect that the tower also offered storage ring rental services. It made him wonder if Nolan confiscated his storage pouch because of this.

"I will," Kyran replied with a wry smile and reached out to take the storage ring.

Due to the ring's large size, he could only wear it on his thumb. He did not mind. He was not used to wearing rings anyway. Wearing it on his thumb did not feel like he was wearing a ring.

After that, he stood up and walked to the golden door.

As he opened the door, a different room appeared before him.

Kyran entered without hesitation.

The room looked very different from the white room. It looked more like a standard infirmary room, with three beds lined on one side, and on the other side, a couple of cabinets filled with bottles with potions or pills.

At the opposite side of the door was another door.

When Kyran looked at one of the beds, he was surprised to find a set of clothes neatly folded at the foot of the bed.

"The tower does have everything," Kyran muttered under his breath. He looked at the door on the opposite side and guessed it was a shower room.

With a slight shake of his head, Kyran smiled wryly while he walked toward the bed with the new clothes.

'Since the tower provided them, then I'll help myself,' he thought.

Just as Kyran picked up the clothes, the overlapping voices spoke, filling the whole room.

"All consumable items are only effective inside the Recovery Room. You cannot take them out. As for the set of clothes, it falls under the non-consumable item. Please make sure to return them before exiting."

Hearing the overlapping voices' reminder, Kyran's brow twitched once more.
