Chapter 187: Enough Talk
Chapter 187: Enough Talk
A powerful force loomed over Kyran as his body made an involuntary move. He immediately unleashed 50% of the Regis Blessing, and through gritted teeth, he fought the force that wanted to overpower him.
From a distance, Sen’s body also blurred. He pointed at Kyran and said with eyes flashing wickedly, “I’m going to enjoy playing with you.”
After that, he also disappeared.
Kyran paid no attention to him because he was busy fighting the force trying to control his body. At the moment, the force had already doubled, forcing him to increase the percentage of the Regis Blessing.
“Argh,” he grimaced when a searing hot pain shot out from within his core.
‘No not now,’ he thought as panic started to whelm his senses.
It appeared that he could only use about 60% of the Regis Blessing until he fixed his magic core. Any more than that, his damaged magic core would act up, and who knew what would happen once it exploded.
“It is futile to fight. You are already within my magic influence,” Cora’s voice flitted in the air.
Kyran lifted his head and glared at the figure in midair. Because of the hood, he could not see Cora’s face, and truthfully, if she had not spoken earlier, he would think he was also a man.
Kyran’s eyes shifted to the reddish-black cube that Cora was controlling and wondered if it was a magic device that amplified her magic or it was where he would be transported.
“Is that, right?” Kyran replied with a faint smile as he released the Regis Blessing and instead, roused his Void magic.
The air crackled as the force that had been weighing down on Kyran lifted a little.
Cora frowned as she sensed foreign magic disrupting her influence. She immediately reinforced her magic, and reddish-black rune writings circled the cube.
Sensing that his Void magic could counter Cora’s magic, Kyran no longer hesitated and let it circulate throughout his body.
Unfortunately.
“Guh!”
Kyran felt his insides burn as magic energies within his damaged magic core seeped out and went over his central core.
‘No,’ Kyran’s scalp went numb in fright as he remembered what happened to his central core after his Draconic magic went out of control.
Right now, the magic energies inside his damaged magic core did not feel friendly, and he was sure once it entered his central core, it would run amok. And there would be a repeat incident of what happened to him back in the Misty Forest.
Kyran remembered his predecessor warning him to be careful because he would not be able to help him next time. And Kyran could not afford to lose consciousness. If he ended up unconscious, there was no telling what they would do to Zephyr and Cyneah.
Kyran’s brain went into overdrive as he came up with a plan to overcome this situation.
Thinking back to why the other two men willingly went inside the cube, Kyran already guessed that trapping him there would not be enough. They most likely wanted to exhaust him inside so he would not break free. They chose to do that inside the cube and not right here in town because they could not afford to expose Kyran’s magic.
All of this happened in just a few seconds.
With a determined look on his face, Kyran released his Void magic and let the woman’s magic wrap him.
‘Fine. I’ll play along,’ Kyran thought as his body blurred and he also disappeared.
A sneer appeared on Cora’s face as Kyran finally went inside the cube. Slowly, the magic arrays above the area and below decreased in size. The magic fluctuation in the air also lifted.
“I told you it is futile,” she muttered under her breath as she descended on the ground.
When she landed, she waved her hand, and every building that was destroyed or had disappeared was replaced one after another. After that, five dark blue discs flew toward her one after another in different directions. These discs were magic devices that the Royal Army’s Research Division invented. Its use was straightforward. Once the disc was activated, an invisible force would spread around and put ‘suggestion’ into the minds of regular humans and lower-ranked mages or soldiers.
Earlier, Muto instructed her to set the discs around this part of the town and had Sen input the suggestion inside. The suggestion was for people to avoid going into the area.
Initially, they did not plan to take the two people with Kyran. But Muto also said that he wanted to capture them. Because one of them had a familiar ‘scent,’ and he was unsure how to deal with it. And since they were supposed to act in secret, they had to ensure no outsider would know about their ‘little’ play.
People soon swarmed around the previously isolated area. Even the owners and attendants in the stores nearby had returned.
Putting the discs back into her coat pocket, Cora silently walked toward the direction where Kyran’s friends had fled.
Meanwhile, inside the cube, Kyran appeared and noticed that the surroundings looked precisely like the one in town. The exceptions were only the sky was reddish-black instead of blue, and the ground was not paved stone but also reddish-black.
Looking up, Kyran saw Muto and Sen hovering in midair.
“You took your time~. Did you really think you’ll be able to avoid being transported in the cube?” Sen said in a mocking tone.
Kyran ignored him and focused on feeling the state of his magic cores. At the moment, the leaking magic energies had stopped. Based on what he experienced just now, his damaged magic core would only act up if he exceeded the ‘allowed’ percentage of his other two magic cores. For his Draconic magic, his limit was around 60%. As for his Void magic, he was not really sure. Since he had just started using it, he had yet to really experience its full power. The Draconic magic was different, though. He was exposed to Draconic magic before, thinking it was Regis Blessing, so he was more familiar with it.
‘Draconic around 60%… for Void, probably less than 50,’ Kyran thought while staring at Muto and Sen.
He had already seen their magic, but it was not enough to gauge their full combat strength.
Muto’s eyes narrowed, seeing how calm Kyran was.
“You are really different from our profile,” he said.
“Now that you said that Leader, he does look different. He looks older,” Sen agreed from the side.
Muto ignored him and continued, “What other things are you hiding?”
Kyran chuckled at his words.
“You dare laugh?” Sen glowered at him.
Ignoring Sen, Kyran stood up and looked at Muto with a smile, “Enough talk.”
Bang!
As soon as Kyran said that, his eyes glowed silver as he activated the Regis Blessing to 50%. He jumped toward Muto, holding his swords on each hand, and was poised to strike him from above.
Muto merely smiled at Kyran and waited for his attack.
On the other hand, Sen jumped back while taking out five cards. He threw the cards and flew toward Kyran.
Kyran remained calm as he hacked down his swords at Muto.
Muto raised his arms, planning to destroy Kyran’s swords. He already knew that the swords were made with obsidian stone. Though obsidian-made swords were tough, it would be a piece of cake to break them with his current form.
Swish!
The obsidian swords in Kyran’s hands suddenly disappeared and were replaced by two dark-purple swords that neatly cut through Muto’s hand.
Muto’s eyes widened in horror as the swords slid down his hands as if they were made of paper. He instinctively jumped down to avoid his hands getting cut.
The tip of the swords suddenly split into three and curved as they pierced through Muto’s forearm before he could jump down.
“ARGH!” Muto roared in pain as the ‘swords’ cut off his forearms.
“BIND!” Sen shouted as soon as he heard Muto scream.
Streams of black rune writings flew out of the cards and went straight at Kyran.
Muto fell straight to the ground while still crying out in pain.
Kyran remained expressionless as his eyes turned reddish-purple. He circulated the Regis Defensive Technique, and soon, the Void Scales shot out from him, destroying everything around him.
“Wha—.”
Sen was unable to finish what he wanted to say because Kyran had disappeared from his line of sight. He then sensed danger coming from behind, and he instantly broke out in cold sweat. It was a feeling he had not felt in years. He had been in the Special Ops for almost eight years, and this would only be the second time he had felt this scared.
Taking out another set of cards, Sen turned around.
“Not there.”
Sen’s eyes widened as he heard Kyran speak from above.
However, he never had a chance to look up because he felt something cold slid down from the top of his head and down his body.
Muto, who had fallen on the ground, watched in horror as Sen was sliced in half in midair. He had killed a lot of people before and had experienced countless bloodbaths. But it was his first time seeing such a decisive and clean move of killing someone.
‘T-This… is someone who will become the next Dark Sage,’ he thought and could not help but give a mocking laugh.
He should have first confirmed if the Grand Marshal’s information was correct. They should not have engaged him at once. Now, all that was left was his grim death.
Sen’s body fell on the ground spilling his internal organs and blood everywhere. The cards he failed to throw also fell and were soaked in his blood.
Seeing Sen’s body on the ground, Muto was reminded of the corpses in the woods. Why did he not realize that those bodies were not mutilated to that extent because of the forest beasts but because of Kyran?
Kyran landed on the ground as he looked at Sen’s corpse with a complicated expression. He was expecting to have a bitter fight against these two. He even wanted to see more of this guy’s magic because he had never seen it before. But who would have thought this guy who even declared will take his teeth as souvenirs and enjoy playing with him, to die so easily. Did he not have any magic enchantments on his coat? How about a magic barrier? Those cards?
Reigning in his disappointment, Kyran turned around and looked at Muto.
Immediately, Muto backed up. He was already back in his human form and had closed the wounds on his arms to stop him from bleeding out—however, his will to fight had greatly diminished after witnessing Kyran’s strength.
Kyran stopped a meter and a half away from Muto. His eyes had already turned back to brown, which was Nar’s eye color.
“Now you can talk,” he said with a faint smile.
Muto looked at him with a sinister smile. “If you kill me, he will know.”
“He?”
“Are you curious?”
“Not really,” Kyran shrugged as he looked at his hand. “Doesn’t really matter to me. I’ll destroy all of you, anyway.”
“Don’t think too full of yourself!” Muto grunted. “We may have failed but we are only—.”
Kyran flicked his hand, and a needle entered Muto’s forehead.
“Noisy.”
BOOM!
Muto’s head exploded as flesh, blood, and brain matter spilled everywhere.
Kyran activated his Void Armor, and none of Muto’s body matter touched him.
Truthfully, he had thought of making either Muto or Sen his Sigil. Because it would be nice to have someone inside that could give him more information. But remembering how arrogant they were and their intention to get Cyneah and Zephyr involved pissed him off, so he decided to kill them.
After a few seconds, Kyran sighed and looked up. Since Sen confirmed that this was inside the cube, it was now easier for Kyran to plan his next moves.
‘That woman—Cora, would be going after Zephyr and Cyneah. I have to get out of this place,’ he paused as he thought of something and rephrased his thoughts, ‘No. I have to destroy this place.’
With that in thought, Kyran jumped at the tallest building and studied the surroundings.
