Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1089: Chase (3)

Aillos sighed inwardly. He knew it would be impossible to completely get Ducal’s assistance because he still disapproved of the Regis, but that was alright. What they needed was his expertise in Array so they could complete the formation faster, rather than his approval of the Regis Clan, anyway.

Besides, Aillos had an inkling that Ducal’s view of them would change over time because he and the Regis Family had something in common, which was their interest in Array.

“I’ll go fetch the materials in the Treasury then,” Nithe interjected, trying to veer their conversation back on track.

As the one entrusted with the Dragon Clan’s Treasury, Nithe’s commitment to his role was unwavering. His responsibilities extended beyond mere stock management; he was the guardian of their resources, ensuring they were always well-stocked and ready for use.

Aillos nodded, “I know you hate it when I decide to take items out of the treasury without your consent, but I appreciate you being flexible about it right now.”

“I understand the gravity of the situation if we let it be, so there is no need for that, milord,” Nithe replied with a wry smile. He then added meaningfully, “More importantly, I am eager for our discussion later.”

“Is that so,” Aillos chuckled while smiling wryly at them.

Obviously, the discussion Nithe meant was Aillos answering their questions.

“The magic energy leaking from the seal is quite troublesome,” Ducal observed after looking at the damaged seal close to them. “We have to start and complete the new formation as soon as possible.”

Aella, who was also observing the seal, nodded in agreement with Ducal’s observation.

“I suggest starting as soon as Nithe returns with the materials for the first part of the array creation,” she suggested. “Fortunately, the materials that the young master from Lady Ames’s other family has to create will only be used starting from the third phase of the array creation, so we still have time until he wakes.”

“That may be true, but since we do not know if he can create the materials in his first attempt, we have to consider that time as well,” Ducal pointed. “If we start working on the formulas for the first and second phases in the next hour, then we’ll likely finish in a week’s time.

By then, that boy from Lady Ames’s other family should have finished creating the materials needed for the third and fourth phases.”

“Yes, that’s true. He needs to start working with the materials two days from now at the latest if we don’t want the work to be delayed,” Nithe agreed.

“We can’t afford any delays, either,” Aella reminded him. “Since we are connecting the formulas from the seal to the new ones, any delays may cause the first connected formulas to lose their natural flow.”

“The third and fourth phases have to be completed simultaneously,” Ducal also voiced his opinion. “Splitting our side will already slow down the whole process, and we can only adjust it by delegating the formulas to the right Array Saints. Still, this will only work if all materials are available by then—.”

“One week? Just to complete the first and two phases? We plan on completing that in three days as long as the materials are available.”

Raya could no longer remain silent and voiced his own opinion. Although he exaggerated the time a bit—actually, it was a lot—he had to do it because he was annoyed by how they spoke of their Young Master as some unreliable human who could very well destroy their timeline.

Did they already forget that the very array formation they wanted to create was drafted by their Young Master?

Raya was not the only one who was annoyed. The rest of the Regis members were, too. If Raya had not spoken, they would have done it even if they would end up getting beat up.

The three aides looked at Raya with narrowed eyes.

“As expected from someone that came from the Lower Realm. Spouting nonsensical things because he does not understand the concept of connecting existing formulas to a new formation,” Ducal scowled. “In the first place, why are you even interrupting our conversation? It’s not like you lot are going to work on the formation with us—.”

“Sir Raya is correct. In fact, Master wants to complete the new formation in a week.”

Before Ducal could complete what he was saying, a voice interrupted him, and they turned to look at the owner.

Ducal intended to rebuke the newcomer, but he soon realized what he was and his level and was shocked.

“You are…?”

Aella and Nithe also noticed this and were dumbfounded. Sёarᴄh the nôᴠel Fire.nёt website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“A Peak High Sovereign Automaton…”

Auto-one appeared before them with a slight smile. He returned after Kyran asked him to oversee the formation while he rested. Honestly, he was reluctant to leave his Master’s side because he would be vulnerable as he slept. Although the Young Mistress was there and he sensed something powerful sleeping within her, he was worried about both of their safety.

In the end, Auto-one was glad his Master told him to return. Otherwise, these annoying lizards would have continued to belittle his Master’s family.

Aella, Ducal, and Nithe were shocked at an automaton’s appearance, but they snapped out of it as they recalled his words.

“Complete the new formation in a week?”

“That is preposterous!”

“Wait… Master?”

They said one after another.

Auto-one could not be bothered to address each of their response, so he decided to introduce himself and the task his Master gave him.

“My name is— sorry, I meant to say is, my temporary name is Auto-one.”

Auto-one added temporary because Kyran promised to give him a proper name when he had rested enough.

“And Master asked me to oversee the formation while he is resting,” he continued while looking at the three aides with indifferent eyes. “As you may have already noticed, I am far more powerful than you three. So it is futile to try anything against me.”

“…”

“…”

“…”

“….”

The three aides and the Regis members were speechless at the seemingly out-of-nowhere remark Auto-one had said.

“Oh, I forgot. If you are wondering who my Master is, he is none other than Kyran Regis, the new Realm Scion who had already gathered the Void core and Draconic core. Ah, Shaiha has also acknowledged him.”

“!”

Aella, Ducal, and Nithe gasped in shock at what Auto-one said just then.

Ames only told them what she knew at that time. Since she did not know everything that transpired in the Tower of the Ancients, she was unaware of how Auto-one and the Ancients referred to Kyran as the new Realm Scion. Apart from that, Ames did not mention that Kyran possessed the Draconic core. She only explained that he possessed the Shaiha and the Void core.

The title Realm Scion was only known by the older generation or those who were aware of The Emperor’s ambitions. Aillos’s aides fell into the latter category, if not the former.

Nonetheless, that was not enough for Aella, Ducal, and Nithe to change their attitude toward Kyran and the Regis Family completely.

“I heard you saying as if Master could not create the materials in time. Let me just say this: the Master has the Young Mistress. She will make it so he is in top shape after he rested for a few hours….”

When Raya and the other Regis members heard him, their expressions turned dull because they knew that it was a lie.

Cyneah would only ensure Kyran gets proper rest by alleviating his condition using her healing. After that, he would have to do his own conditioning.

“…He will then explain how to complete the new array formation in a week,” Auto-one continued, ignoring the expressions on Raya’s and the others’ faces. “After that, Sir Raya, Sir Shimon, Miss Aubrie, Sir Davion, Sir Jair, and Sir Zoll will oversee the start of the first phase of the formation.”

His eyes narrowed as he looked at Ducal, who he already deemed as the most annoying because he was overly biased toward the Regis Family, and said, “You will only support them as Milord, Dragon Emperor, has suggested earlier. You will not lead the creation itself.”

Ducal frowned. He was initially fascinated to see an automaton with such a high magic level. But after confirming he belonged to that boy, he felt somewhat torn.

As Ducal braced himself to refute Auto-one’s claims, Aillos, who had remained silent throughout the whole thing, finally spoke.

“He is right,” Aillos told the three aides. “I understand that you three are eager to start with the array creation, but Kyran’s people knew it better. The only problem is that if they do it themselves, it will take them a few months to complete. With our Array Saints’ assistance, we can reduce their timeline by a great deal.

“Just as you have already noticed, it is not good for Coelus’s corpse’s magic energy to continue to influence our plane for a long time. Otherwise, the civilians will soon be affected.”

“But, milord…”

“Did you forget? Kyran is the one who drafted the new array formation. Thus, he is the one in charge and assign the tasks accordingly. Our role is to gather the Array Saints and support them.”

“…”

“Thank you, milord, Dragon Emperor,” Auto-one lowered his head toward Aillos respectfully.

Aillos looked at him wryly and said, “My aides will probably not take your word for it since you’ve shown such a biased attitude toward your Master. Why don’t you clear their doubts by telling them who your first masters were.”

Auto-one looked at Aillos with a faint smile.

“I see what you are trying to do, milord. Very well, I will make an exception and comply even if you are not my Master.”

He looked at Aella, Ducal, and Nithe and said, “My first masters are the Four Greatest Minds of the Ancients. I have acknowledged a new Master, even though those four were already my masters. Do I need to say more?”

Blade Dancer Plane, Central Palace.

In the palace’s conference room, Lucian sat at the head of the table while Geir and the five elders of the Blade Houses occupied the seats on each side.

At the opposite end of the table, a woman stood with her head lowered. She looked like a pitiful child who was forced to tell the elders a shameful memory she would have loved to take with her to the grave.

The woman was none other than Alta, and she had just finished narrating her encounter with the dark mage.

Lucian narrowed his eyes as he looked at Altan in annoyance. It did not show on his face, but he was very annoyed and disappointed that a High Sovereign like her let some Lower Realm human escape her pursuit.

Even though that human possessed the Void Core, the fact that he barely used it, yet she still failed to apprehend him truly annoyed Lucian.
