Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1087: Chase (1)

The base of the Energy Assimilation Array Kyran designed was the seal itself. He could not fix the array, because it was the Void that damaged a part of it. However, since the formulas on other parts were intact, he thought it was a waste not to make use of them.

The seal was irreparable because the damaged part could not be fixed. But if the intact parts were used to create a new array, then it was possible. Rare materials would be needed in order to do this, though. Thus, normally no one would bother reusing an irreparable formation.

Except Kyran, that is. Or to be more accurate, the Void Master.

Using the Void’s nature of creating something out of nothing, Kyran could create the materials needed to reuse the intact formulas of the seal.

He was still bound by the materials present on the plane he would use them for, but the Dragon plane was one of the oldest ones in the Higher Realm. In fact, because the seal used several hundreds of rare materials during its creation— though those materials were mostly imported from other planes— they were considered present but out of stock at that moment.

Creating those materials would require a huge amount of magic energy and focus— the former to ensure the material being created was of high quality, and the latter to ensure the material being created had the exactness of the original one.

With Kyran’s condition, however, creating those materials would likely aggravate his condition further. Worst-case, he might exhaust himself without completing all the materials they would need and pass out cold.

Raya and the other Regis members were aware of this since they had already witnessed their Young Master create materials from nothing when they were creating the warp array back in the Human plane. Although their Young Master did not stay until the array’s completion, he had already prepared all the rare materials that they might need beforehand.

Raya and the other Regis members remembered how their Young Master seemed to have lost weight after creating twenty-something rare materials back then. This time, they needed more than a hundred, and the materials were rarer than the ones in the Lower Realm. They could not imagine how their Young Master’s condition would be afterward.

After sensing their apprehension, Aillos told them, “There is no need to use Void to create all the materials.” He added, “Show me the list, and I’ll check their availability in the treasury.”

Kyran looked at Aillos with a slight frown. He was obviously reluctant to receive any help from Aillos. It was not because he did not trust him. Rather, he did not want to be indebted to them even more than they already were.

“Younglings should accept assistance from the elders without making a fuss,” Aillos growled as if reading Kyran’s thoughts. “Since you brazenly declared that the situation you created can only be overcome through you and your people, then it is only appropriate that we do our part as someone who would benefit after you succeed in whatever you intend to do.”

Raya and the other Regis members felt a cold shiver run up their spine as they sensed the Dragon Emperor’s powerful pressure from his words. Moreover, he might appear to be willing to help them, but he also wanted to remind them that their clan would not have been caught up in the situation if Kyran had not caused it.

Aillos was not wrong, so Raya and the others could only keep their mouths shut.

“If that’s the case, then I will gladly accept them.”

Contrary to what Kyran must have wanted to say, he accepted Aillos’s offer without making a fuss, as the latter said.

But then his next words almost made Raya and the others flip in fright.

“Now that I think about it, since we’re getting rid of the Dragon Clan’s hidden skeleton, it is only right that they provide the materials we’d need to accomplish it.”

Aillos’s brow twitched ever so slightly that no one would have noticed it if they had not been observing him intently.

“You took the words right out of my mouth.”

Not wanting to allow a greenhorn to outdo him, Aillos agreed with Kyran.

The others could only remain silent during their exchange because they did not want to get caught in the middle.

“While we are at it,” Aillos added.

It seemed he was not done with offering their assistance.

“I have complete trust in Ames that she would succeed in explaining the situation and convincing the rest of the aides to assist. Thus, our Array Saints will also assist in the array’s creation.”

Raya and the rest of the Regis raised their brows in surprise. In terms of Array Knowledge, they were considered Array Masters at most. Thus, they estimated that they could complete the array formation their Young Master drafted in three to four months.

Their estimation did not include Kyran because they still considered him as a patient who needed to rest. Sёarᴄh the nôvel_Fire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Kyran thought differently, though. In fact, if Raya and the others were aware of the timeline of the array’s creation projected in his head, their eyes would likely popped out of their sockets. This was because Kyran planned to complete the array in one week.

‘The Dragon Clan’s Array Saints, huh?’ Kyran looked at Aillos skeptically.

It was not that he did not believe the latter’s words or that the quality of Array Knowledge of their Array Saints would be lacking. But he was worried that the Dragon Clan’s Array Saints, with their overflowing pride as beings considered the most powerful race in the Higher Realm, would find fault in his draft.

Besides, Kyran remembered hearing one of Ames and Cyneah’s talk that only a few older dragons were aware of Coelus’s corpse being sealed in an underground place in the Dragon Plane. If more dragons were made aware of this fact, they might have differing opinions about what to do with Coelus’s corpse.

“You don’t seem to like the idea,” Aillos said, sensing Kyran’s reluctance.

“Those who learned array in the Lower Realm tend to get along even if they were from different factions. Is it the same in the Higher Realm?”

Aillos did not answer Kyran’s question at once. Instead, his eyes narrowed as he realized Kyran’s concern.

To be honest, Aillos had the same thoughts as Kyran. But unlike the latter, who was only aware that Coelus was the original dragon and father of the first eight dragons, the former knew the fear of the old, present, and new generations of dragons had for Coelus.

They would never covet the benefit Coelus’s corpse would provide.

As a matter of fact, the thing that Aillos was more concerned about was the dragon’s reluctance to get close to Coelus’s corpse.

“Rather than worrying about something so trivial, let’s start reviewing the list of materials,” Aillos chose not to answer Kyran and focused on the materials they would need again.

But Kyran sensed that rather than avoiding raising a sensitive topic about the dragons’ nature, he sensed that Aillos did not want to discuss that in front of the others. Thus, he took the hint and decided to bring it up again when they were alone.

While Aillos and Kyran were reviewing the materials, Raya received a call from Ames. She told them that Ducal, along with two more aides, Aella and Nithe, were already making their preparations to go there.

“Don’t waste time and use a transmission scroll to get here,” Aillos told Ames without looking at the communication device that Raya and the other Regis members were maintaining.

Ames frowned, “I don’t want to burst your bubble, Father, but have you forgotten? None of the aides knew where Coelus’s corpse was located.”

“Did I say they will be the ones using the scrolls?” Aillos replied while looking at Ames with a wry smile.

Ames raised her brows as she realized he meant her to use it.

“But our transmission scrolls can only take one other…”

Aillos looked over at Kyran, who was already giving him a blank expression.

Obviously, he wanted him to give them more of his transmission scrolls.

“Raya,” Kyran called with a sigh of resignation.

“Young Master?”

Kyran took out three transmission scrolls from his pouch and handed them to him, “You’ve been to the Main Palace, right? Use the scrolls to bring them here.”

Raya kept a calm expression, but his complexion paled a little upon realizing what Kyran wanted him to do.

“Y-Young Master, I…”

“Lady Ames and Myst need to focus on the path creation using the Regis Terram,” Kyran started. “Besides, none of them have the transmission scroll so…”

“Actually, Myst have one…”

“And the one who knows this place is?”

“… Lady Ames….”

“Alright.”

‘If you continue to act intimidated by them, they will continue to belittle us.’

Raya stopped short upon hearing Kyran’s voice in his head.
