Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1083: Taking Advantage

Kyran, Raya, and the rest of the Regis members went through the seal’s formation they managed to recreate thus far. Surprisingly, their progress in deciphering the whole array was slow even with Kyran assisting them. This was because he was still affected by Coelus’s corpse’s magic energy even with Aillos acting as their shield.

While they were busy with the formation, Auto-one and Cyneah stayed on the side in silence.

Back in the cottage, Cyneah used to observe Kyran through her magic sense, as he fiddled around with array formations that Nolan created to test him whenever they had a chance. Others might find the whole thing boring, but not her. She might not understand what they were doing, but she enjoyed the mood around them.

In fact, it was during those times that she got to know Kyran and Nolan better, especially since she barely knew them back then.

Additionally, Cyneah did not find it exhausting to observe them because she got to practice her magic sense. Honestly, observing Kyran was quite a task as he did not possess light and looked like a huge lump of black mist in her sight. But because of that, her control over her magic sense improved significantly

At the moment, however, Cyneah realized how truly boring her little joy used to be without her magic sense. Because Kyran refused to release his domain that still covered her like a protective veil, she had nothing else to do but listen to their alien-sounding conversation while watching several lights dancing before her sight.

“I understand that you might find this a little boring, Young Mistress,” Auto-one started, seemingly noticing her bored expression.

Cyneah straightened at once, feeling a little embarrassed at being caught. She said, “I-I… It’s not that boring… I just don’t understand much of what they are saying and because of my sight…”

Her voice trailed off as soon as the subject of her sight came to focus. She did not want to sound like she was blaming her disability on her inability to understand what they were doing and shook her head.

“No. You’re right. I started late in studying magic so I did not get a chance to explore its branches apart from Alchemy,” she gave him a faint smile and added, “So I have no idea what they are talking about.”

Auto-one looked at her and was about to offer to explain what they were doing when he saw her mirror-like eyes. He was aware of her lack of sight but because she was so good at controlling her magic sense, he did not really put much thought into her condition. Only now when she could not use her magic sense did he truly allow himself to understand her.

He belatedly recalled his comment back at the room with a garden in the Tower of the Ancients and realized how insensitive he had been.

Even if their Young Mistress’s magic sense was very powerful, she could only recreate the shapes and their depths if she concentrated enough, but their colors would be in black and white.

What would happen if she could not use her magic sense then?

Darkness.

“Young Mistress,” Auto-one started to speak after a long pause. “I acted insensitive, please forgive me.”

“Hm?” Cyneah slightly tilted her head in confusion. “Insensitive?”

“I failed to understand your situation and one-sidedly assumed that everything was alright. I’m sorry.”

Cyneah was at a loss. She did not understand why Auto-one suddenly apologized to her. But thinking that it must be related to being unable to understand Array because she started late in learning magic, she simply said, “You don’t have to worry about it. I’m the one who should apologize because you’re stuck protecting me when you clearly want to help Kyran decipher the seal.”

“You are very magnanimous like my Master. No wonder he had chosen you as his life partner.”

Cyneah reddened at the off-handed remark and inwardly scolded herself for having little to no restraints over her emotions.

“I-I’m not…” she started to deny being Kyran’s life partner because they had only taken a step forward with their relationship.

Sharing a kiss when you’ve only taken a step forward? Seriously?

A small voice sounded in Cyneah’s head as if to mock her thoughts.

“There is a potion that can temporarily improve a mage’s magic sense…” Auto-one continued to speak, not noticing Cyneah’s embarrassment. “Actually, rather than improving a mage’s magic sense, it can improve their Divine Sense. Your magic sense is already at the peak level, just a little push then you can enter the Divine realm and use Divine Sense.

When that happens, if you drink that potion, you can also control the magic energies to improve the depth of what your senses could see and also produce their colors.”

Cyneah’s eyes widened upon hearing Auto-one’s words. Her interest piqued, she asked, “W-What do I need to concoct that potion? No, first off, how is it concocted?”

“Such a potion does exist, but it is a god-grade potion that is hard to concoct.” S~eaʀᴄh the ηovёlFire .net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Aillos joined their conversation.

Apparently, he had been listening to them from the start.

Cyneah and Auto-one did not seem to mind his eavesdropping and the former asked, “A g-god-grade potion…?”

“Hm,” Auto-one agreed. “Milord is right. But there is a transcendent-grade recipe available as well. Its effects and duration are reduced but it is still a good alternative.”

“T-Transcendent-grade…” Cyneah repeated once more, her complexion paled further. She could be considered one of the peaks when it came to Alchemy in the Lower Realm, but the tier of potions and pills she could concoct was mostly at high-grade and sometimes legendary grade. Forget about god-grade potions, she could not even concoct a transcendent grade.

In fact, she did not even know there was such a grade. The highest grade she came across was saint grade, and she only saw one after coming to the Higher Realm.

As if reading what was going through Cyneah’s mind, Aillos said, “You said you have studied Alchemy, how is your level?”

Cyneah raised her head slightly to her left where Aillos was and replied, “Uhm… I don’t really know. My master is an Emperor Alchemist and I mostly learned her ways… I ended up moving away before completing my studies under her though and could only continue studying by myself…”

“Hm,” Aillos crossed his arms and said, “Let us assume you are already at that level. It is a pretty decent level even here in the Higher Realm but it is not enough to concoct a transcendent grade potion successfully. You need to be at least an Exalted Alchemist but even then the success rate will be at fifty percent.”

“I-Is an Exalted Alchemist the next after an Emperor Alchemist?”

“Yes.”

“Can I ask what level is the highest Alchemy level here?”

“After Exalted is Divine,” Aillos replied.

Cyneah could not help but frown at his answer. She noticed that he did not say Divine was the highest but that it was the next level, which meant that there was a higher level but apparently no one had achieved it yet.

“Alas, after so many years, it seems Alchemy in the Higher Realm has stagnated,” Auto-one sighed in disappointment.

“Auto-one?”

Auto-one looked at Cyneah and said, “In the past, when my original masters still ruled The Realm… ah, apologies, they do not rule per se, but because of their unmatched knowledge in Magic, they were the forerunners in terms of Magic levels and knowledge. Back then, an Emperor Alchemist is very common. Few reached the Divine realm, and a handful reached the God realm.”

“G-God…”

“Well, we did call the peak existence of Alchemy God Alchemists, but… it is far from being a God per se,” Auto-one explained while scratching his head in embarrassment. Read exclusive adventures at m_v-l’-NovelFull.net

“Does Array have the same levels?”

“Array is fundamentally easier to learn than Alchemy,” Aillos explained. “It also has fewer levels. In the Higher Realm, it is very common to see an Array Saint and that is a level lower than the peak, which is an Array Transcendent.”

“So there is no Array Exalted or Array Divine?” Cyneah paused after hearing what she just said. “That sounded a little off…”

“Actually, Array Transcendent has been the peak existence of Array only because my original masters had to stop its study,” Auto-one explained with a bitter smile. “Because of the Higher Being’s threat, my original masters had to hide.”

Aillos narrowed his eyes as he looked at Auto-one. He already guessed the latter was an automaton Kyran discovered in the Tower of the Ancients rather than like Aki whom he created from the Lower Realm. For this reason, he had been very curious about his origin.

But hearing Auto-one openly talk about his origin was giving Aillos a headache. Moreover, he spoke of the Four Greatest Minds as if they were only in hiding.

How was that even possible?

The Higher Being was the most powerful existence back then. Even The Emperor, being a Supreme Overlord, could not hold a candle against him if he was still there. If the former could destroy planes by himself, the latter should be capable of doing far worse. He did something far worse by causing The Fall. However, The Fall was the result of the Ancients being destroyed.

So how come Auto-one spoke of them with such confidence?

Aillos decided to keep his thoughts to himself and observe for now. It made him regret his initial reaction upon seeing Kyran because if he had suppressed his anger, Coelus’s seal would not have been destroyed and they would not be in this situation. He might have also learned the rest of what happened in the Tower of the Ancients from Kryan.

Alas, the saying that old age can cause one to go senile seemed to hold some truth.

“I believe my original masters have improved the study of Array, though. So it is not wrong to think that there is a higher existence than the known peak, Array Transcendent, now,” he paused and looked at Kyran and the rest of the Regis with a smile. “And I believe Master will reach that.”

Cyneah smiled. She could sense Auto-one’s faith in Kyran from his voice. Others would find it strange that an automaton who had only sworn allegiance to someone could have such emotions, but Cyneah was already used to being around automatons, especially Neo and she no longer saw them differently from humans.

“But going back on topic,” Auto-one looked at Cyneah again and smiled. “If you are interested in that potion, Young Mistress, I can help you.”

Cyneah widened her eyes, “Are you proficient in Alchemy?”

“Oh, no,” Auto-one shook his head at once, “But there is someone I know who is proficient in it. But in terms of the ingredients you will need. I can help in getting them.”

Aillos might have decided to observe for now, but hearing Auto-one’s confidence made him scowl.

Ingredients to a god-grade potion were obviously at the same level. Such ingredients were hard to find and even if there were, buying them was simply impossible. No one would sell them because they would rather use it themselves.

“Then I will accept your assistance. But first, I need to increase my Alchemy Knowledge and level,” Cyneah replied with a small smile.

“I’m sure Master has also considered that. After all, that enormous amount of magic energy will definitely be able to accommodate everyone.”

Cyneah’s brow furrowed in confusion, “Accommodate everyone? What do you mean?”

Auto-one raised his brows in shock. He had just apologized for being insensitive earlier and he had done it again!

“I am so sorry, Young Mistress. I should have explained what Master is telling the rest of his people at this moment.”

“N-No, it is fine.”

Aillos sighed. Obviously, he was already aware of what Kyran planned to do with Coelus’s corpse. He actually found it preposterous, but at the same time, ingenious.

Basically, Kyran planned to take advantage of the enormous amount of magic energy from Coelus’s corpse to improve his people’s level.

That was also the reason he wanted the Regis Clan and his people in the Lower Realm to enter the Higher Realm.
