Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1076: Demand

The Dragon Plane was safeguarded by a formidable Defensive Array. The fact that The Emperor’s pressure extended to the entire plane, even without his physical presence, was a testament to his strength. Yet, the Defensive Array, which was intricately linked to Aillos, stood strong, impervious to the latter’s threat. The only way to breach it was through Aillos’s consent.

During the recent conflict between the Dragon Clan and Solis Clan, the only reason the latter and their subordinate clans managed to enter the plane was because Aillos was in the middle of closed-door training. This caused his link with the plane’s defensive array to weaken.

The Solis Clan Elders, driven by their nefarious intentions, were fully aware of this vulnerability. They seized the opportunity to disrupt Aillos’s training, their actions a clear attempt to hinder his enlightenment and breakthrough. Continue reading at m|v-l’e -NovelFull.net

Aillos took off from the balcony and made his way outside the plane the moment he sensed The Emperor’s pressure. It might be hard for the latter to descend to the plane because of the barrier, but it was not impossible.

The Emperor, a figure of immense power and influence, was dubbed as the most powerful being in the Higher Realm for a reason. His abilities were unparalleled. Alone, he could obliterate any small plane, brazenly enter a medium plane, and force his way inside a large plane.

The Dragon Plane was not an exception. It would take The Emperor some time, but he would definitely be able to force his way in.

Of course, that was only if Aillos did nothing.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Aillos made a bold decision. He chose to confront The Emperor outside the Dragon Plane, a move that could potentially alter the balance of power. Aillos was confident in his ability to stop The Emperor from entering, but the stakes were high. If he failed, The Emperor would definitely sense Coelus’s energy, and the matter about Kyran would also be revealed.

This was a scenario Aillos was determined to prevent at all costs.

The rumor about The Emperor being afraid of Aillos was actually exaggerated. It was true that he disliked the fact that Aillos was on the verge of breaking through the wall that separated the level between an Overlord and a Supreme Overlord. However, he was not afraid of Aillos’s threat once he broke through. He was only afraid of having a competition of becoming the next Higher Being.

But The Emperor was not that worried because he had several hundred years of advantage since he became a Supreme Overlord long ago. Aillos would not be able to bridge the gap of experience even if he became a Supreme Overlord as well.

Aillos knew this, which was why he chose not to comment on the rumor. He also chose to avoid confronting The Emperor to prevent something inevitable from happening.

Frankly, Aillos saw peer pressure as the sole reason for a real war to happen between the Dragon Clan and the Solis Clan. This was because the tension between them was actually caused by the rumors created by those unrelated parties rather than someone from the Dragon Clan or the Solis Clan.

All eight aides of the Dragon Emperor saw his departure and also moved. They did not go out of the plane. Instead, they started making their own preparations if something inevitable happened between the Dragon Emperor and The Emperor.

“Aillos,” The Emperor greeted the moment Aillos appeared before him.

“Lucian,” Aillos greeted The Emperor in return.

The Emperor’s brow twitched slightly after hearing Aillos speak his name. Obviously, The Emperor was only his title, and Lucian was his true name.

A mage’s name in the Higher Realm was precious. For this reason, no one would reveal their real name.

However, there was one thing that no one knew, and it was the fact that The Emperor and the Dragon Emperor were aware of each other’s real names.

Aillos believed that The Emperor had no reason to be afraid of him other than the fact that he did not want to have someone compete for the position of the Higher Being.

However, if someone had asked The Emperor, and he answered honestly, he would have told them that if there were one reason for him to be afraid of the Dragon Emperor, then it would be the fact that he, the Dragon Emperor, knew his real name.

Others would think that knowing the Dragon Emperor’s name should balance them out, but there was actually a huge difference between a Solisian, a being created from light, having their name revealed to others, and a Draconian revealing their name.

That was right.

Aillos never hid his name. Thus, The Emperor could not say that he had the Dragon Emperor’s weakness.

Moreover, as a dragon whose innate magic is one of the four Ancient Magic, other innate magic would never be able to affect them.

“It has been… what? Five years since the last time we meet face to face?” Lucian started, concealing his apprehension from Aillos’s mention of his real name. “Little Ames has been the one attending all the meetings recently, and I’m beginning to wonder if you are avoiding me.”

“I am.”

“How honest.”

“I’m only saying what you already know,” Aillos replied, not even attempting to give Lucian a face. “Let’s stop with the idle chat. You did not come here just to rant about that, right?”

“It is truly a choir trying to speak with you.”

“Thank you.”

“That is not a compliment.”

“I know.” Sёarch* The Novelƒire(.)ne*t website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“…”

Lucian’s pressure erupted once more as he looked at Aillos through narrowed eyes.

“Acting like a smart ass will not do you good, Aillos.”

“It is not an act. I have always been like this, and you know it.”

“True,” Lucian agreed. However, his pressure only intensified as he added, “And I find it truly annoying.”

“What business do you have here?”

“Don’t play dumb. You know full well why I am here.”

“I’m asking because I don’t,” Aillos replied with a frown.

While it was true that he had an idea, there were far too many possible reasons for Lucian to visit the Dragon Plane, which was why he did not know which one.

“I have come here personally to interrogate your clan representatives from the last hunt,” Lucian did not beat around the bush and answered at once.

“Rejected.”

“You are in no position to reject, Aillos,” Lucian said, directing his magic energy to put some pressure on Aillos.

“I will be the judge of that, Lucian.”

Rather than feel intimidated, Aillos accepted Lucian’s pressure head-on and released his own. Still, he made sure that his pressure would only neutralize Lucian’s pressure and not affect the Dragon Plane below.

“My people died in there, and among the only survivors, your clan representatives are quite intact. I want answers,” Lucian growled.

“Just because my people returned intact does not mean they had anything to do with what happened to the others that failed to return,” Aillos growled back. “Do not blame your people’s incompetence on my people.”

White magic energy started to emit from Lucian as he started to release not only his pressure but his Divine Sense.

“I would not have suspected anything if not for the fact that all that returned from the tower are representatives from factions that are on good terms with your clan.”

“You are not an idiot, Lucian. Why would I order my people to kill your people and spare only those who were on good terms with us?”

“You are right; I am not an idiot. That is why it is not wrong to suspect the possibility that your people would have done something so obvious because they believed they could feign innocence because it was too obvious.”

In a sense, Aillos understood where Lucian was coming from. As a matter of fact, the latter was correct to suspect the Dragon Clan’s involvement because Kyran was the culprit behind the deaths of most representatives during the hunt.

“I am not going to hurt your people,” Lucian continued, and to prove his point, he reduced the pressure he aimed at Aillos. “I only want to ask them questions.”

He smiled slightly and added, “If I had other motives, would I have come here alone?”

Lucian was right. He had come alone, which meant he did not want to make a huge fuss over what had happened. Although he was angered by the fact that his people had died, he would not make a move.

At least, that was what Lucian wanted Aillos to believe.

Fortunately, Aillos was no fool. Even alone, Lucian could damage the Dragon Plane.

“I’ll answer your questions.”

In the end, Aillos stood his ground and refused to hand over Ladon and the others.

“Your people, Aillos. I do not want to hear the answers from you but from their mouth.”

Aillos knew exactly what Lucian had in mind. He would pry into Ladon and the others’ minds to get the answers he sought. But if that happened, he would discover Kyran and destroy Ladon and the others’ minds.

“Do not test my patience, Aillos. Hand them over, and I will leave quietly.”
