Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1057: Informants

Kyran’s brow twitched slightly the moment Cyneah voiced her opinion because she had a point.

It was true that if his people entered the Tower of the Ancients, they could improve by leaps and bounds. But that was if they successfully cleared a floor or a level.

The Tower of the Ancients is different from the Tower of Tribulations, and as far as Kyran is concerned, the latter cannot be retrieved. It is not because the Tower of Tribulations is far more dangerous than the Tower of the Ancients. Rather, it is the opposite.

The Tower of Tribulations was created after The Fall and catered more to the Lower Realm dwellers, while the Tower of the Ancients was created as the Ancient’s training grounds.

Kyran learned from Kairos that all Towers except for the Tower of Tribulations were created by the Four Greatest Minds. To give a proper title to them, they were the Creators.

Kairos is the sole Overseer of all Towers that the Ancients created. But being an Overseer does not mean he is the Owner.

The same applies to the Creators.

Once Kyran accepts his identity as the Realm Scion, he will become the Owner of all the Towers. But being the Owner does not mean he can do as he pleases with it. Managing and running the Towers is still the Overseer’s responsibility. And the ones responsible for adjusting its objectives or purpose are the Creators.

No matter how much Kyran prided himself as an Array Saint, he knew he could not be compared with the Four Greatest Minds. As such, if he retrieved the Tower of the Ancients, he could not change or adjust the tower’s challenges and difficulty level.

Peak Sovereigns are already having trouble clearing one challenge. If this were the case, how would his people, who had lower magic levels, survive?

Auto-one mentioned that the Tower of the Ancients had to adjust its program to allow non-Ancients to enter.

Kyran asked Kairos who adjusted the tower’s program, but the latter said that the only thing that changed was its entry requirement. Any Ancient with a high clearance could do that. However, even if they possessed a level one clearance, they were still not allowed to adjust the towers’ purpose. Your journey continues on m v|l–NovelFire

From this, Kyran concluded that retrieving the Tower of the Ancients might not be beneficial.

As if reading his mind, Aki said, “Master, I am sure you are worried your people may not be able to clear any challenge. But what matters is for them to gain insights, is it not? The Tower of the Ancients will also automatically kick out all participants inside after the time limit ends. So long as your people manage to survive until then, they should be fine.”

Kyran opened his mouth, but before he could voice his concerns, he stopped and closed his mouth.

Saying that he was worried about his people’s safety was equivalent to him not trusting their capabilities. That was something he did not want them to misunderstand.

Kyran trusted his people. He especially knew the hidden potential of every Regis Family member. As for the people he recruited— or, to be more accurate, those he turned as his Servants or Sigils— their capabilities and potentials were similarly good.

“Kyran,” Cyneah started once more. “If you can’t decide whether to let your people enter the Tower of the Ancients, you can instead consider not giving the other clans a chance to retrieve any more of the Ancients’ treasures.”

“That is a very good point, Young Mistress!” Auto-one agreed enthusiastically. “Retrieve the Tower of the Ancients, and the other clans will no longer be able to access it.”

Kyran had also considered this point, but he did not give it much thought because the tower could only be entered every five hundred years.

Or was it?

Now that Kyran affected the portals that accessed the space where the Tower of the Ancients is located, would there be changes to when it would open again?

Kyran had no answer to that.

Letting out a sigh of resignation, he finally said, “You’re right. It is best to keep the treasures away from the other clans.”

“You also have the choice of taking all the treasures,” Auto-one reminded. “As long as you accepted your identity as the Realm Scion.”

Kyran chose not to respond to that last comment. After learning about the past and the role the Realm Scion would play in fixing The Realm, he could no longer give a careless answer.

At this point in time, he was the only human who could absorb all Ancient Magic Cores.

Basically, he was the only one who could stop the War of the Sovereigns from happening and also prevent whatever scheme The Emperor had by absorbing Shaiha and the Ancient Magic Cores.

Of course, Kyran was not entirely clueless about The Emperor’s scheme. The latter would not be able to fix The Realm, but he would likely want to rule both the Lower and the Higher Realms.

To be honest, Kyran did not know what was so good about becoming the ruler of everything. Because, in his opinion, standing above everyone else was boring and pointless.

If Shaiha had known what was going on in Kyran’s mind, she would have already complained about how he lacked ambition.

“Let’s go get the rest,” Kyran said after a short pause.

Ultimately, he could not decide at that moment because he had to consider what would happen to Diara and the other Ancients once the Tower of the Ancients left that space.

The portal through which he came from was still open, and Kairos prepared it in a way that would allow him to go to where his people were as long as he thought of them.

Cyneah, Aki, and Auto-one agreed at once and followed Kyran to the portal.

Upon arriving at the room where Ladon and the others were, Kyran, Cyneah, Aki, and Auto-one noticed the tension between them.

Fortunately, none tried to agitate the tense atmosphere, and all of them remained civil.

Nonetheless, Kyran could glean that they were just in the middle of a strained conversation before they arrived. However, none of them seemed keen on continuing where they left off.

Kyran did not try to point this out, however, and only looked at Ladon and said, “Do you guys still want to hunt for treasures?”

“Our objective is to find the powerful existence in the tower,” Ladon replied at once. “Since we already know who it is, then there is no point in staying.”

“Besides, we got one helpful treasure so returning is fine,” Thorn also agreed.

“Alright,” Kyran nodded before looking toward Shiloh.

The moment their eyes met, Shiloh could not help but flinch in apprehension.

Kyran raised his brows in amusement, “Don’t look at me like that. I won’t kill you yet.”

“Yet.”

“I can always change my mind.”

“…”

“You can also try to change my mind.”

“…What is that supposed to mean?”

Kyran smiled at him, which did not reach his eyes, and said, “You know exactly what I mean.”

“…”

Uilleam, who had been silently observing their exchange, stepped forward and resolutely said, “We can act as your informant.”

“Uilleam!” Shiloh looked at Uilleam in utter disbelief. His complexion also paled as if he could not believe the latter would say something worthy of death.

“If you want to stay alive, please remain silent,” Uilleam told Shiloh.

Shiloh opened his mouth to protest. But knowing Uilleam’s character, he closed them without uttering a single word.

Kyran had already guessed Shiloh was an important member of the Blade Dancer Clan. But the one who possessed greater authority and influence was Uilleam.

“Informant,” Kyran repeated after a short pause. “Good choice of word.”

“We have a good position in the clan,” Uilleam reasoned. “Exclusive information will be made available to us.”

“Will be made available…” Kyran repeated Uilleam’s words again. “Meaning the information has already passed through other members before you.” seaʀᴄh thё Novёlƒire.n(e)t website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Uilleam did not respond. But the way his eyes glimmered while looking at Kyran, it was obvious that he was contemplating how to respond to the latter’s words.

“That’s right.”

In the end, the one who answered was Shiloh, surprising Uilleam.

“But that is only in Uilleam’s case,” Shiloh added, ignoring Uilleam’s gaze.

Kyran looked at Shiloh and already guessed the meaning behind his answer.

“We can also keep an eye on him,” Shiloh said, gesturing toward the Solis representative, who remained unconscious even then.

Kyran looked at the Solis representative. He already judged that the latter would not be much help as a spy to the Solis Clan because he was far too weak. That was not to say that Shiloh and Uilleam were strong. Nevertheless, the fact that the latter two managed to put up a fight proved they were given better treatment in the Blade Dancer Clan.

When Shiloh suggested keeping an eye on the Solis Representative, he intended for them to establish a friendly connection. To do this, they would pretend they saved him from Kyran’s group, which in turn would make him indebted to them. They would then gain his trust and get inside information on the Solis Clan.
