Last Egg: Reincarnated as a Dragon in a Game

Chapter 518: The War - Dragon Mountains Bloodshed, part 2/5

POV: A Dwarven Player

Shouts and yells echoed between the walls of the enormous cave. Gradually, the light dimmed as the massive metal gate isolating the cave from the outside clasped closed with a resounding thud. A web of magical lights and runes flickered to life across the gate, casting eerie shadows on the stone.

Metal clanged incessantly as an army of dwarves, clad in heavy plate armor that made them resemble bipedal tanks, formed up behind the gate. Gatlin, a dwarven player decked out in his armor, took his spot in the formation, his hand trembling as it gripped his weapon.

Suddenly, a ding resonated in his mind, delivering the message he had expected—and dreaded.

Ding!

//

Hello, I have a new task for you! What, did you think you would be forgiven after the last battle? Haha, we gods do not forgive so easily.

Objective: Wait for the signal and then attack the dwarven city from inside!

Reward: 1 XP; 50 fresh onions

Failure consequences: You will vomit out your eyes through your ass.

Failure conditions: You will not participate in the attack on the defending dwarves; You betray the system by warning the dwarves.

Just looking at the failure punishment, Gatlin glanced at his friend, his face paling. The text was so gruesome that no one even wanted to imagine what it meant, let alone experience it. Yet, he had spent years as a dwarf, fighting as one of them, and was now expected to betray them.

Then, a voice charged with energy resonated through the cave, “Hold steadily, my brothers, as long as my beard stays, I will defend these mountains.”

A dwarf in armor that dimly glowed in the darkness, adorned with countless masterful runes, stomped toward the gate. The formations of the dwarves and players parted, all eyes filled with greed, reverence, hope, and admiration locked onto the graphite-black Warhammer in the dwarf’s hand.

Whispers and cheers erupted from every soldier around Gatlin. “Hero Fatting Fisthammer, the holder of the divine hammer, is here. He will save us.”

Gatlin could feel the terrifying aura radiating from the hammer, an aura so powerful it reminded him of the battle on the marble planet.

Just then, a deafening crash reverberated through the cave as something banged violently against the gate. Each impact echoed like thunder, shaking the ground beneath their feet. The gate shuddered under the relentless assault, the magical runes flaring brightly with each hit, struggling to hold back whatever force was attacking from the other side. seaʀᴄh thё NôᴠeFire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Open the side gate, I will chase away those overgrown lizards!” The hero yelled, and the warriors cheered.

POV: A Wyrm Knight

A young adult blue-scale wyrm in armor descended from the sky, eyes burning with the desire for blood. It was their first chance to show their might since joining the legendary Order of the Wyrm Knights as an initiate.

‘I must show my power!’

The battlefield below was a chaotic storm of destruction and magic.

Hulking stone elementals rose from the mountains, launching thousands of stone and metal spikes. Lesser dragons and more wyrms clashed with the elementals, their roars mingling with the sounds of breaking rock and sizzling magic. Countless breath attacks rained from the sky, shattering and destroying swathes of land.

Mana plasma laser cannons constantly bombarded the mountain’s gate with their blinding energy rays.

‘Beautiful,’ the wyrm thought, admiring the knowledge of mortals—their engineering, mechanics, optics, and physics—powered by magic. They wanted to study it and learn more about it.

In retaliation, primitive mana cannons mounted on the mountain’s gate fired blinding flashes of energy, their beams cutting through the air and striking against barriers, armor, and the scales of any wyrms or dragons caught in their path. The air was thick with the acrid smell of burned ozone from all the magic spells cast every minute.

Suddenly, a shrieking sound snapped the dreaming wyrm back to reality. A stone spike headed straight for them, launched by one of the countless earth elementals.

‘Pathetic piece of stone.’

They gathered their magic power, forming a barrier of pure bluish mana. The spike crashed against it and shattered with a resounding bang, raining down as dust.

They didn’t feel even a sliver of fear as their horns began to shine brightly, a massive magic circle forming in their gaping maw.

In the midst of its casting, the wyrm knight’s attention was drawn to a radiant glow on the ground, their perfect eyes focusing and zooming in.

A hammer ascended with unstoppable force, a beam of divine energy shooting forth. The young wyrm knight barely had time to react, seeing countless dracodactyls and their riders torn apart as the light engulfed them. The next moment, the divine power enveloped the wyrm, their vision darkening.

POV Vesuvius:

With a crack, the dark shadow of the dragon appeared so high in the sky that even the tallest mountains looked like tiny piles of gravel. His eyes momentarily faltered as he watched multiple wyrms and countless lesser kin die in the blink of an eye.

He could see the dust that remained of their bodies drift away in the wind.

‘A divine weapon.’ He immediately became serious, unwilling to underestimate one of the weapons that helped to kill the other dragon kings. He could feel the staggering amounts of energy infused within it—more than he used to have as a lord.

For a moment, tremendous worry and anger exploded within him. His gaze briefly scanned over the battlefield, noticing the young emerald dragon, the demonic dragon, the storm dragon, the death dragon, the fire dragon, his minion knight, and others, checking if his closest subordinates were still alive.

The fear was gone, and the anger slightly subsided.

‘Let’s see what the chosen champion of a god can do, and I hope you are ready to pay for attacking those loyal to me.’ He spread his wings, and the day turned into night as he seemingly absorbed all the light, like a moving black hole.

Then his body lit up with searing, pale blue fire, turning night back into day, but this time he was the sun. Instantly, as his aura washed over the battlefield like a tsunami, all fights stopped.
