Chapter 399 The Heavenly Speed, Part 1/2
A few days later:
POV A distant observer:
A brilliant light erupted on the distant horizon, rapidly expanding as its pure white rays obliterated the darkness in their way.
Waves swept through the forest, and all sounds vanished, not even bugs daring to beep.
“You have slandered my name, you have betrayed the church and I shall judge you.”
A crescent blade of light cut through the trees and everything in its put, cutting it like a giant laser chainsaw. The trees, animals, and priests, everything collapsed onto the moist forest soil in an instant.
Without delay, the observer, far on the tall peak, sent the message, ‘They have arrived.’
The ground trembled again, and a magic ring lit up on the ground, all the runes and lines pulsing. The next moment the space was torn, and absolute darkness came out. The clouds were so thick they blocked even the light of the angel spread through the woods.
A golden light flashed in the sky, and everything was gone. The light, the terrifying aura, vanished into nothingness. Only the puffs of smoke lingered behind it.
‘Right into the master’s trap.’
POV Vesuvius:
The bright spot of light entered the sprawling world of the sea of magma with occasional icebergs floating on it and lightning striking from the red clouds of fire in the sky.
‘Strike fast, win fast.’ That was his plan and goal.
The dragon wasted no time. He flapped his wings and opened his mouth, with glowing and spinning lenses within. Breath poured out from its throat as his eyes blazed, causing the world to blur with his sudden acceleration.
The angel’s humanoid body exploded into rays of pure light, its blinding halo transforming into hundreds of light blades that shrieked as they pierced through the air.
The dragon didn’t even care, all the air and fire gathering into a bubble that repulsed the blades away.
“Those who oppose the light shall be punished.” The light grew brighter and brighter, with the giant form of the angel, made of pure light, appearing above the sea of lava.
Sixteen wings of lightning blanketed everything in pure white light, lightning bolts raining down everywhere. The angel’s form twisted and warped, leaving no trace of humanity as roaring heads of beasts, mouths filled with blades of light and lightning, emerged from its shoulders.
The monstrosity of light, silver metal, clawed hands, and arms, with the three heads, stared at the dragon with the hundreds of glowing eyes opening all over its armor. One of its heads was human-shaped, with two belonging to beasts growing from its shoulder, all three covered in armor.
The angel’s clawed hands and legs threateningly sliced through the air.
‘To think humans like to depict angels as human looking. How wrong they are. In reality, they are twisted and warped as demons, especially for their higher ranks.’
The dragon stood firm and unleashed beams of purple, gold, red, and black from his mouth. The destructive pulsing ray disintegrated lava, stone, and even the air, while the vacuum sucked everything into its wake.
Its bright light flooded the world and outshined even the angel’s own light.
“Ohh, may God have mercy upon me and protect me!” The angel transformed into a streak of light and lightning, vanishing as the beam smashed into the ground, drilling a giant hole into the world’s foundation.
The air by the dragon’s side vibrated, and his body coiled and twisted as its claws clashed against the incoming claws of light on reflex.
They collided with force to split mountains and crush diamonds into dust, unleashing a tsunami of burning death, light, and lightning across the world.
“This is my world! Strike that pigeon!” Vesuvius’s mana surged through his vocal cords, domain, and divine kingdom, reacting in unity, amplifying each other.
Magma, stone, ice shards, and lightning exploded, descending upon the angel. The escalating heat ignited the air, transforming everything into a fiery inferno.
The angel flapped its wings, dancing and spiraling through the elemental onslaught with the grace of a ballerina in slow motion. Nothing hit the angel, only glancing at its armor of barriers of light.
Even the dragon felt awe at its precise and fast movement, ‘So fast.’
The horns on the dragon’s head shone, and the power as he unleashed even more power.𝗈𝑽xt.𝗇t
The islands were torn from the ground, and the icebergs shattered and turned into blades while the magma surged toward the cherub like a murderous river. Only the distant dark structure of the prison remained unscathed.
“Dragon, you are nothing but a lizard of sin!” A white world filled with interlocking vortexes of holy light and lightning expanded outward, pushing back the flames and forming a bubble of safe haven amidst the apocalypse.
The dragon’s horns shone even brighter as more mana coursed through his veins. Finally, divine energy erupted, causing all the runes and magma in his armor to glow gold.
“Drown in my power!”
The dragon’s domain, voice, and kingdom grew stronger as they relentlessly assaulted the angel’s protective bubble. Fire, lightning, stone, and magma collided repeatedly.
Under the explosions, flashes of light, and the pressure of the dragon’s domain, the bubble gradually shrank before the dragon’s eyes, making his heart pound. However, he remained cautious, knowing that an angel of such rank would not easily succumb.
Vesuvius didn’t relent as the beam exploded once more from his mouth, the fiery inferno parting in its way as it drew the line pulsing in dark color between him and the melting world of light.
The angel flapped its wings, the world collapsed, and its form of light vanished. The angel pierced through the inferno like a bullet through water, parting it in its path and leaving behind a trail.
Vesuvius felt every single of the angel’s moves.
It accelerated even more, leaving behind only flashes of light, arcs of lightning, and afterimages. The angels appeared and vanished everywhere with eruptions of light, burning within the fire only to restructure again and again.
Its speed kept increasing, making the dragon stagger as he felt the angel everywhere.
eαglesnᴏνel ‘This speed. This a next level.’ he felt his head would spin just from watching it. Even he didn’t expect such a god-like speed when he planned it.
At once, more than a dozen afterimages struck the dragon, their glowing claws reaching toward his huge body with the wings of heavenly lightning enveloping him from every side, like a giant fishing net.
They pierced through the barrier of his domain, piercing through its bubble like a hot needle through a piece of plastic foil, only slowing down slightly.
‘Huh, how can something be so fast it looks like it is on multiple spots at once.’
There was no time before the glowing claws struck him from every angle. Pain followed right after. The explosions of light charged with heavenly lightning detonated all over him, with fragments of his armor flying around.
His wing froze briefly as the claws cut into the metallic bone structure.
