Last Egg: Reincarnated as a Dragon in a Game

Chapter 144 New Spells [Bonus]

Vesuvius hovered high above the ground, flapping his enormous wings. Thick black clouds were covering his whole body that slightly glowed in dim white light, giving him an ethereal look.

A shiny black metallic helmet covered in golden ornaments was fittingly hugging his entire head, looking partially like armour used to protect a head of horses. It covered his whole head and a portion of his neck in plates aligning over each other, like plates on a scorpion, leaving his horns, eyes and mouth unprotected.

It was the same helmet that he gained from his quest. With it being a magical item, it easily fitted even a dragon like him.

Originally he wanted to have nothing with the helmet feeling a repulsion to covering his beautiful dragon body. Still, upon seeing the beautiful shiny black metal decorated with intricate golden ornaments and its boost to his defence, he simply couldn’t resist.

‘Time to field test my new magic.’

Immediately magical energy surged through his body, and two glowing magic circles flared up on his wings, the symbols in them pulsing in a repetitive rhythm.

Magical energy flowed through his veins and bones, feeding the circles, their luminescence growing with each second. Finally, as if something snapped, bright orange, almost yellow flames ignited around his wings, their radiant glow penetrating through the thick clouds, his wings looking like the wings of a phoenix.

The dragon flapped his burning wings, and a wave of magical energy rose up in them. Two waves of flames launched out of them as if splitting from the fire engulfing the wings, blasting to the distance, their intensity gradually lowering.

The wings kept burning, and the dragon flapped them again. Two more waves of flames rose up and moved through the sky, the heat of the fire distorting the surrounding air.

Seeing the beautiful dancing flames in the sky, Vesuvius felt his heart beat louder, enjoying the fire show.

‘Another form of attack-oriented more towards the splash damage than concentrated single target one.’ he quickly analysed his new spell, trying to fit it into his current build.

Vesuvius dispelled both circles, their glowing shapes turning into glowing orange motes before dissipating in the sky.

An instant later, more magic flowed through his body, again flowing into his wings. At once, letters ignited in the air, hovering close to his wings and quickly arranging into two squares. Their border glowed brightly as the super hot yellow flames ignited around the skeletal structure supporting his wings. Its glow was even brighter, the heat igniting the surrounding air, with the skeletal structure looking like a cobweb weaved of sunlight.

The dragon flapped his wings, the glow of flames increasing even more as large flaming blades descended from each bone on his wings, blasting through the air at an incredible speed, leaving behind yellow trails, flying all the way into the distance like hellfire rockets launched from an attack helicopter.

‘This one also feels like area damage one, but it feels much more focused on increasing its range. Wonder If I can make them explosive in the future.’ The dragon’s mouth opened wide, with yellow light leaking out as he imagined a large swarm of explosive projectiles descending upon his enemies.

Vesuvius felt like these spells weren’t something game-breaking that would increase his strength by some large margin, but he also felt like they had some potential in them.

‘Another part of my body that I can use to attack can always be useful. They feel a lot like my breath lenses; maybe I can try to combine them. Well, I should first put more points into intelligence.’

After his fight with the demon baron, he realised that his most significant current bottleneck was his intelligence, limiting his ability to control a large amount of mana required by his specialised organs and his extensive array of spells.

‘My magic stat is through the roof thanks to my scaling ability, but my intelligence is behind.’

Knowing where he needed to invest, he quickly put fifty points into his intelligence before reading through his status again.

‘It is looking better and better with each level.’

His eye fell upon the town on the horizon, silhouettes of its grey wall rising towards the sky. He just shook his head, knowing that it would be a bad idea to just directly go there to speak with the new baroness, ‘I should still keep my involvement with her secret, just in case. For public matters, I can use my cult.’

Magical energy once again pulsed through his body, gathering on his wings in an even larger amount than before.
