Last Egg: Reincarnated as a Dragon in a Game

Chapter 125 The *Thunder Night, Part 2

(AN: Hopefully, you get that pun with the title, just writing to avoid confusion 😀 You will likely get it after reading the chapter :D)

The dragon descended from the sky, winds surging around him as he opened his mouth. An inferno of bright yellowy flames exploded out, blasting through the lines of demons. Their carapace and horns were melting. Their chaotic bodies with animal features evaporated under the unending onslaught of yellow flames.

Vesuvius flapped his wings, stopping in mid-air, his eyes focused on the wall of bright yellow flames that slowly cooled down, gradually turning towards orange.

‘Dammit, I can’t leave from here. My minions are not enough to secure the base.’

A bright red light flashed through the forest as the giant fiery demon fell to the ground under the unending onslaught of colourful glowing projectiles exploding all over its magmatic body, slowly eating from its mana.

Its whole body suddenly flashed in red as it expanded like a balloon before it burst, crimson red magma rushing out, splashing through the surroundings. Trees and minions hit by it immediately evaporated.

As everyone breathed out in relief, loud shrieks pierced through the night as a massive swarm of large winged demons covered the moon, their red glowing eyes looking like red stars. Their large leathery wings merged with their fur-covered arms and were trailed with a thick web of red glowing veins. They looked like a twisted demonic form of a bat, easily being twice as high as an average human.

The flapping of their wings was loudly rustling in the night forest as they opened their mouth, red light flickering in them. Hundreds of red glowing balls erupted out of the gaping mouths, raining on the forest, exploding in flashes of red energy, tearing through the trees and leaving deep craters in the ground, the shrapnel of red light flying through the woods, mangling everything in their path.

The small minions in their black mantles desperately ran through the forest, hiding behind mages and priests as small spherical magical shields popped through the woods, brightly shining in the darkness.

‘Shit, this way, my minions will all get killed. I need them to guard the hideout!’

Vesuvius’s reverse-slitted eyes flashed in the golden light as he opened his mouth. Thick clouds of smoke and steam rushed out, quickly spreading through the sky, all of the stars vanishing under them as the sky turned dark except for the everpresent red radiance.

Instantly tiny water droplets erupted from the dragon’s body, flying in all directions. The strong wind gushed, pushing the tiny droplets glittering in red light as if someone had spread millions of red rubies through the sky.

Vesuvius could feel his heart wildly pumping blood, his magic conducting blood flowing into his horns.

“Die, you maggots. Lightning will strike you down for attacking my territory and turn you into dust!” suddenly, a large portion of the dragon mana vanished, his voice becoming distorted and loud, the air vibrating under the magical waves spread by his voice.

His horns immediately crackled in blue and gold lightning. Blue light flashed in the dark clouds, accompanied by earthshaking thunderclaps erupting every time.

The dragon pushed more mana into his horns, feeling every electron of electricity flowing in the clouds around him, his vision slowing down. He could feel as if the lightning was an extension of his own body as if it was his additional limb.

‘So this is what they meant by controlling electrical fields.’

Before, he could unleash giant lightning, but he had little control over it. But now, he felt he could move them freely, just with his will.

All of the flying demons felt magic in the air, all of their red ruby-like eyes focusing on the large armoured dragon, with bright arcs of electricity iluminting his body as if he was under the reflectors.

“Giiiii!” high-pitched shreks of demons echoed from the sky.

They flapped their wings, rushing toward the dragon like a swarm of hungry locusts, the red light flashing in their widely opened mouths filled with thin needle-like teeth. At once, a swarm of red glowing orbs erupted out from their mouths, all of them flying straight at the dragon.

Dozens of red lines trailed across the black clouds-covered sky.

All of the black-clothed, masked figures on the ground were watching the show with widely open mouths, their eyes shining with expectancy. They felt and knew that a huge attack would descend upon the battlefield.

“Is the wyrm going to unleash some kind of an ultimate attack?”

“Ohhh, quickly turn on the recording. This will be an epic explosion!”

Strong wind gushed, pushing the water droplets at an immense speed. Immediately the water droplets moved, flying towards the demons, twisting and bending as if they were part of a giant whip, the red light of the incoming red orbs refracting through them, filling the sky in a beautiful light show.

As if time had stopped, all of the players and demons on the ground stopped fighting and looked at the sky, feeling an incredible wave of magic collecting in it.

The lightning crackled through the sky, massive blue and golden arcs descending from the clouds, jumping between the water droplets forming a massive wave of water and lightning. A bright light illuminated the sky, everything as bright as if it was midday.

The thunders shook the ground, causing a large avalanche to descend from the nearby peak, swallowing everything in its path.

As if he swung his own hand, Vesuvius moved the colossal wall of lightning towards the incoming swarm of winged demons, using it as if it was a fly swatter and the demons were just a bunch of flies.

The demons immediately stopped, their red eyes blinded by the shine of the lightning, growing in panic as they flapped their wings, chaotically flying in all directions trying to get away from the incoming doom.

Feeling almighty, Vesuvius felt the adrenaline rush through his whole body, filling him with euphoria as his mana quickly drained, flowing into his horns as if they were a bottomless chasm for mana.

The wave of lightning moved across the sky as a tsunami and swept through the red orbs, drowning them in golden blue brilliance. The ground shook under the concert of unending thunderclaps that just kept banging again and again.

The blue and golden waves passed through the demons, their bodies disintegrating into dust. As if guided by the god’s hand, every arc and lighting surge accurately struck the demons, killing them in blinding blue flashes.

Vesuvius released his control over the lightning, gliding towards the ground, his whole head hurting, with most of his mana gone.

Immediately without his control, the lightning struck the ground, raining destructive rain over the forest, killing everything in its path.

Silence fell upon the woods, a strong odour of ozone drifting across the air, surviving demons and players just looking at the ground littered with black spots after lightning strikes.

Without the adrenaline, the dragon felt like banging his head against the cliff, his horns itching and his brain feeling as if he had put it into a blender. Still, even through the pain, he couldn’t stop thinking about the huge attack that ate all of his mana in one go.

‘Just thinking about a future where I will be unleashing even bigger attacks without blinking makes me happy for this new life.’ Vesuvsiu, a former high-level player, knew that he was still too far from the top. But he felt like his whole life, even though filled with immense dangers, was much better than the life of even the wealthiest human back on earth.

POV Noob:

The noob joined the game yesterday, his excitement palpable as he waited with a black load screen before his eyes, ‘Alright, I should have enough pelts to finish my quest. I will log in and go straight to the town. There is nothing that can go wrong!’

Noob felt adrenaline rush through his veins just from remembering his brutal fight with boars from yesterday, enjoying the feeling of hardship that a challenging and realistic game like LOMM brought to him.

Finally, a sweet female voice entered his mind out of nowhere, his vision turning white “Welcome to LOMM!”

In the next moment, he was standing back in the forest, everything around him red, loud thundering noises shaking the ground, and white flashes blinding him.

Confused, he looked at the sky above him. The whole sky crackled with lightning, burning his eyes as he gasped in surprise, “What the actual fuck?!”

Immediately, all the lightning struck the ground, killing him before he could even register what had happened.

His thoughts were in absolute disarray as his vision hovered above his dead, disintegrated body, watching the destroyed forest. ‘What the hell? This game is broken, I knew it was supposed to be hard, but something like this in a beginner zone is a little bit over the top! Fuck this game! I will fucking report this shit!”
